Work saying I'm good to go in

What's the rules on faint positive lft and working?
I messaged my supervisor yesterday evening letting her know I had a faint positive on a lateral flow after feeling a little ropey (I'll attach the faint positive).
I then did another lft immediately after to double check and it was negative.
I did a pcr this morning and sent off as I have symptoms.
I've just asked what the process is in regards to work and I've been told I'm ok to go in until I get a positive.. I'm assuming they mean pcr unless they don't think my faint positive is a real positive.

What are your thoughts? I thought I had to isolate until pcr results but it's constantly changing so I have no idea

That clearly looks positive to me, that's what members of my households tests looked like before positive pcr results.

nordica · 20/01/2022 11:42

I can see the line - I would have just not told work about the second negative test and said you have symptoms, a positive faint line on an LFT and have decided to get a PCR to confirm.

They will have a much bigger problem to deal with if you go in and infect most of the team so that everyone is then off work at the same time.

But still a positive as the gov guidelines state 🤣👍🏼[/quote]
Not from where I am standing. Can't see a line at all. Although wait, my kid has a telescope....I will be right back!

shauna79 · 20/01/2022 11:54

@LettertoHermoine
No problem, you've stated yourself a telescope would be needed so have a look. I'll go to the soft play area I'm taking my baby to later on and risk infecting other babies because of the SYMPTOMS I have. Then I'll go to work tomorrow and again risk other people because letters to Hermione told me they couldn't see a line 😊

Def a v faint line. Can see without even zooming the pic! But this is MN where everyone is apparently using screen technology from the early 90s.

Last time I looked on government site, they had a line about how the line on an LFT might be faint and you might have to hold it up to the light, so you are in the right, OP!

arghdilema · 20/01/2022 11:59

I can see a line on the first one without opening the picture up.
If you can register it online I'd do that.

Can you book a PCR then contact work and tell them you’re following guidelines?

drinkingwineoutofamug · 20/01/2022 12:04

I was told when I had a faint lft like yours to book a pcr and stay off work until I got the results.
I'm nhs and that's our trusts policy 🤷🏻‍♀️

CharlotteGoldenblattYork · 20/01/2022 12:06

Sounds like you're feeling unwell too, so they can't insist someone with symptoms goes in, regardless of any test results.

I currently have covid and as others have mentioned, my first test was very very feint and barely visible to the naked eye, then the next day the positive line on the test was bright red.

You go Girl! Enjoy your time off!

LulaLulaloo · 20/01/2022 12:11

I have covid! Negative all the way through on lateral flow, positive on pcr! My partner was positive from the offset on lateral flow, we both showed symptoms from the same day with maybe a 3 hour gap and caught it from the same place (only place we had been and the person showed symptoms and tested positive about 12 hours after seeing us)

I would isolate!

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 20/01/2022 12:15

I can see the line. I did one last night. It was quite faint but still there and I also feel a bit unwell so I'm with you. You should be at home.

CharlotteGoldenblattYork · 20/01/2022 12:17

You might also find, OP, that you go from feeling a little bit under the weather to suddenly feeling very fluey and unwell, so definitely best to stay home

Hocuspocusandfairies · 20/01/2022 12:19

My LFT looked like that when I was positive.

SaintVal · 20/01/2022 12:20

I can see a line on both of them, albeit they are feint.

Like a PP said, if you registered that test online you'd immediately get a text from the test and trace people telling you to isolate and only leave home to get a pcr. I think your work are wrong OP. Hope you get better soon 😊

cookiemonster2468 · 20/01/2022 12:24

You shouldn't go in if you have symptoms. You need to wait for your PCR.

A negative LFT doesn't confirm that you don't have Covid.

anxiouswaiting · 20/01/2022 12:24

They both look like feint positive to me. It think they must look different depending on peoples screens.

But yes of course if you have symptoms you isolate awaiting pcr result, your boss cant make up their own rules.

I currently have it and I had a very feint like that and the next day it was very dark.

ReeseWitherfork · 20/01/2022 12:28

AFAIK the current guidelines still says PCR if symptoms NOT lateral flow. So you shouldn't have even done a lateral flow by that standing (although I know the reasons you have done). If going by those guidelines, doesn't really matter what the lateral flow says, you need to isolate until PCR back.

I could see a line without even opening the picture and my eyesight is awful. Not sure why anyone would feel superior and snarky for not seeing it.

Broskerempter · 20/01/2022 12:32

Just take another LFT

CockapooMum · 20/01/2022 12:34

I had the same on Monday on 2 lateral flows more of a white line than a pink line in the T part and could only see it as looked really closely. I did another lateral flow Tuesday which was negative but booked a PCR anyway as my throat was so sore and then got positive result from that Wednesday morning. I would definitely isolate and the rules are once you've had a pcr to isolate until you get the results

AnEpisodeOfEastenders · 20/01/2022 12:35

That's a negative test - feel like you're just looking for some time off work

Ahhhhhbisto · 20/01/2022 12:36

My lateral flow lookss like that when i was pcr positive. I think you should be isolating and maybe take another latera flow in the meantime.

Pawprintpaper · 20/01/2022 12:36

Can’t see why your work would want you in, having a workplace outbreak is a nightmare

CA0932017 · 20/01/2022 12:39

Your work is wrong, you can't go in, especially if you have symptoms. Even without symptoms, a positive lft means you should isolate.. I can see the line.

DD's line was very faint like this, probably even fainter on Sunday, then I did another which was totally negative and but then much stronger the next day, positive pcr result now. Have you done another lft today? Hope you feel better soon.

If you get a positive lft, then a negative you cannot disregard the first positive. Is that why they think you can go in? I had this convo with my mum. She thinks if you get a faint positive, then afterwards a negative, you just consider yourself negative 🤦‍♀️

Some work places are assholes. You need to stay home to both get better yourself and keep others safe.
