It seems that it’s not just the Conservative party breaking lockdown rules.

Wouldnt suprise if this was put out by keir his self after all Barry Gardiner is a more serious issue

the80sweregreat · 16/01/2022 16:15

@ancientgran

Did anyone see Trevor Phillips on Sky this morning. His description of his April 16th weekend was pretty show stopping.
I saw this too :( How dignified was Trevor Phillips describing what happened to him and his own family . It was just So sad
ancientgran · 16/01/2022 17:08

Yes he really was dignified, I don't know how he didn't breakdown. How can Johnson listen to that and not be ashamed enough to resign.

OldaRailer · 16/01/2022 17:12

When asked if he stuck to the rules Professor Chris Whitty said he tried.

I think Keir Starmer probably tried too.

Johnson, I'm less convinced.😂

username345 · 16/01/2022 17:52

He had a bottle of beer, during a break from a work meeting he was holding in a constituency room. It was legal for those working to meet at the time. He did nothing illegal. He didn't host a massive booze up out of work hours as Johnson did, while people were sacrificing a lot to stick to the rules.

CheeseMmmm · 17/01/2022 02:07

Is this still going?

Not caught up assume some posts still from people who think long work session, break for food and a beer or 2 then work into evening. With 5 people there. Is a party!!!

Only message I'm getting is that some people have only been to really atrocious parties!

Wonder what else counts?

Stopping for lunch and a pint with partner while out shopping?

Having a beer with an old friend in their house before going bowling?

Small sherry with your gran?

CheeseMmmm · 17/01/2022 02:10

Saw mail front page and commented to DH feels like they want people to think Tories being vv silly and pathetic.

His view. They want Boris out hence making look petty and desperate over one beer long work session.

And someone less ridiculous in to improve Tory credibility election chances etc.

That felt likely to me.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 17/01/2022 07:56

Nadhim Zahawi has just been on the BBC news trying to defend Johnson. He brought up "Starmer's drinking event" trying to equate it to the parties the Tories held.
Pathetic.

pickingdaisies · 17/01/2022 12:15

Drinking a bottle of beer after working all day, and before yet another work meeting - party. Sitting in a garden drinking wine, eating cheese - work meeting. Must be so confusing in Boris-land.

MapleMay11 · 17/01/2022 12:42

@Chloemol

All parties will have broken the rules throughout

Just as millions of UK residents have

Absolutely correct. It's just a case of what comes to light. Starmer has been caught out on this one.
pointythings · 17/01/2022 13:02

If you think a beer during a break in a working day/evening is the same as having a big fat garden party with invitations then you're very hard of thinking. A meal break during a working day is not a party.

Iggly · 17/01/2022 13:06

Starmer was having a beer in May 2021.

I went into my office around then. It certainly wasn’t illegal to be in an office. Ffs.

Boris was partying in may 2020, a couple of months after hardcore lockdown came along.

Yeah that’s really the same 🤔

countrygirl99 · 17/01/2022 14:51

It was even legal to eat indoors in a restaurant in May 2021. Hardly the same as inviting 100 people to a BYOB party.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 17/01/2022 14:55

Lockdown rules or no. I never drink at work its highly unprofessional. Do all these people spend their time pissed?

PinkCheetah · 17/01/2022 14:58

I smell Tory desperation and it's absolutely glorious.

He was at a long meeting that went into the night and they had a short break to have a meal and a beer. What do you expect them to do go and sit in their cars to eat then go back in? Having a beer with your dinner is hardly getting pissed
Iggly · 17/01/2022 15:50

@PinkCheetah

They should bottle it and sell it
vera99 · 17/01/2022 16:12

Anyone who equivocates Keir's beer at a true work meeting with the now dozens of djs ,drink suitcases ,BYOB memos is either working for Johnson or needs their head testing. Look over there migrants in dinghies , abolish the licence start another war with Europe or anywhere. Utterly transparent utterly pathetic. The man is an amoral bloated vacuum who loves only himself and will sacrifice anyone and anything to save his flabby skin.

I love the smell of Tory desperation in the morning
stupendousfragmentariness · 17/01/2022 16:32

There's photographic evidence Keir was galloping around the country trying to solve the mystery of The Reptile, too.

Keir Starmer breaking lockdown rules too
pickingdaisies · 17/01/2022 21:32

Is that a remake of Father Ted? Grin ( I bet that candlestick breaks lockdown rules)

stupendousfragmentariness · 17/01/2022 21:59

It's from the 1966 Hammer horror, The Reptile

Lots of indoor gatherings and no mask-wearing by any of the protagonists or the priestess of the snake people who was offing them all. shakes head

The lead is a dead ringer for Keir!

That Ray Barrett, an Aussie actor. I remember him on tv when I was a kid.

catfunk · 17/01/2022 22:10

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 17/01/2022 22:26
