It seems that it’s not just the Conservative party breaking lockdown rules.

It's hardly the same is it?

frozendaisy · 14/01/2022 18:31

@CassieJumped

It's hardly the same is it?
Just what I thought.
Ijustreallywantacat · 14/01/2022 18:33

Not the same. He was actually legitimately at work. With 5 people he worked with. It wasn't a big piss up.

FlibbertyGiblets · 14/01/2022 18:35

No I don't think that is a fair accusation. He appears to be at a work meeting.

pickingdaisies · 14/01/2022 18:35

Is that the best they've got? They must be bricking it in that case

Sunflowersinthewind · 14/01/2022 18:35

So desperate

Fallagain · 14/01/2022 18:39

But it’s not breaking the rules.

Bobholll · 14/01/2022 18:40

Erm, he didn’t. He was at a genuine work meeting with 5 people.

Boris had a piss up with 150 invited, including his wife. On multiple occasions.

Try harder.

Theunamedcat · 14/01/2022 18:40

There is another thread on this

ufucoffee · 14/01/2022 18:40

I don't know anyone who didn't break lockdown rules at least once. I couldn't give a shit what Johnson, Starmer etc have been doing.

CaroleFuckingBaskin · 14/01/2022 18:43

@ufucoffee absolutely with you on that!

museumum · 14/01/2022 18:43

There was no rule against drinking beer in may 2021.

There was most certainly a rule against large gatherings in may 2020.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 14/01/2022 18:45

That photo came out months ago, I remember seeing it.

Also Keir Starmer is not the PM or the one setting these rules. I've broken lockdown rules, but I'm not the one in charge telling other people what to do and then ignoring it myself.

Flapjacker48 · 14/01/2022 18:46

Enjoy your 2p that conservative central office paid you to post that.

MaryAndHerNet · 14/01/2022 18:46

I couldn't give a shit what no fuck did in no fuck town no fuckshire, it's not the point.

They're supposed to be the leaders of thelis country. They're supposed to lead by following the laws they set.

Keir having a meeting, big whoop, he's opposition.
Tories breaking their own laws and lying in the commons is a big deal and they should be dragged over every hot coal.

sashagabadon · 14/01/2022 18:48

I bet there’s plenty of mp’s frantically think back to various times and double checking what the rules were. Keir supported all the rules and made a big point of doing so in fact he and his mp’s often called for more draconian ones or to keep them for longer Hmm so of course he has to obey them.

SquishySquirmy · 14/01/2022 18:50

Its interesting, because I am very sure that this is the absolute worst they could dig up on Starmer.
Simply because if there was more, they would give us that instead!
It would be like if Boris was accused of armed robbery, and a story emerged that Kier Starmer has an overdue fine on a library book... it would only make the contrast more stark, and make those.defending Boris look desperate!

A small group meeting in an office for legitimate work reasons, working over dinner, and having a something to eat and drink...
Is that really the same as inviting a hundred people for drinks in the garden, with no reference to work on the email? Does it really compare to the other parties that have come to light recently?

Sort0f · 14/01/2022 18:51

Clutching at straws

Sheabutterisdelish · 14/01/2022 18:54

Yup, night and day comparison, ridiculous

EmmaPaella · 14/01/2022 18:54

No.

Player067 · 14/01/2022 18:54

Desperate stuff

SquishySquirmy · 14/01/2022 18:55

May 2021 is not May 2020.
5 people in an office is not many dozens of people at party after party after party.
1 bottle of beer in the evening is not a suitcase of booze.
Drinking a bottle of beer whilst stood near a window has never been illegal.

ZenNudist · 14/01/2022 18:55

Shoot the man for having a beer whilst at work. That picture didn't look like either a party or a large number of people. It very much looked like a meeting.

"The image was taken through the window of the building and appeared to show Sir Keir holding a beer while speaking to two people, with two more people in the background."

Thing is tories don't need to do anything other than cast shade on starmer and some idiots will believe they are all as bad as each other.

forcedfun · 14/01/2022 18:56

Nowhere near the same thing

Againstmachine · 14/01/2022 19:00

Kier wanted worse restrictions many of the time and has supported the Tories getting their obscene laws through.

It might be not worst he could do, but how about not doing it and go home instead of staying behind and having a beer.
