It seems that it’s not just the Conservative party breaking lockdown rules.

It seems that it’s not just the Conservative party breaking lockdown rules.

I thought that this was found not to be in breach of the rules.

Nice try.

Keith drank a bottle of beer while standing near the window

I can quite clearly see a second bottle of beer on the windowsill in the op's link.

Because Hartlepool to London is a maybe just bit of a long way to go for meal before carrying on work?

The photograph is from a constituency office in Durham - but it looks like a 'Beer Fest' en route;

Sorry Clav you are sounding increasingly desperate. So desperate it's rather sad.

Clavinova · 15/01/2022 12:51

Nice of you to care.

noblegiraffe · 15/01/2022 12:54

Can’t believe Clav linked to Starmer being thrown out of a pub as if it had anything to do with alcohol consumption.

Perhaps Clav is worried about losing access to subsidised bars and boozy work events.

kittensinthekitchen · 15/01/2022 13:23

@Clavinova

Your attempt to persuade that a beer with dinner and tasting a beer at a brewery is anywhere near in the same league as weekly "wine time fridays", organised (and DJed) parties for each and every occasion, at least one party with over 100 people invited, is pathetic.

Boris and chums were partying regularly throughout the heaviest lockdown periods. So far, you have the evidence that Keir Starmer - legally - had a bottle of beer with dinner, whilst taking a break at work, and he sampled a beer whilst - legally - visiting a brewery.

What else have you got?

@Clavinova You do understand what this was over don’t you? It’s because Kier lead to back the tories to implement measures during a time of crisis and that ll wasn’t pleased about that.

Personally, I think putting aside politics and point scoring in a situation that requires time sensitive action is pretty noble but clearly that’s not a concern of yours?

Clavinova · 15/01/2022 13:46

Can’t believe Clav linked to Starmer being thrown out of a pub as if it had anything to do with alcohol consumption.

I can't believe someone posted;
Keir is drinking from a bottle, could be a J2O bottle

He clearly likes a pint and no doubt would have drunk one in the pub in Bath.

Boris and chums were partying regularly

I haven't seen any photographic evidence that Boris Johnson was partying regularly - so far a zoom quiz and a quiet chat in the garden.

There was most certainly a rule against large gatherings in may 2020.

An MP has explained his decision to attend a 100th birthday celebration for a Second World War veteran during lockdown.

A video clip showing Labour’s Kevan Jones who represents North Durham, attending the party has been circulating on social media.

Mr Jones said he was invited to an outdoor celebration, organised by the community, for Frederick Herron’s 100th in Quaking Houses, County Durham, on May 10 [2020].

People were meant to join in from their own property, but bad weather meant the party was brought inside at short notice.

Labour Mayor and police officer also in attendance;.

Quartz2208 · 15/01/2022 13:52

Does any of this actually matter though Clavinova. Boris Johnson still comes out of this badly.

Because there were many parties at Downing Street that much is clear. Either he was aware of them and sanctioned them.

Or he wasnt aware of what his staff was up to - which in reality questions his competence.

He has admitted to going to the party in May 2020 and that alone I think signed off on them being something that they should do.

He is in charge - he should lead by example. The image of the Queen sitting alone at a funeral is because she was well aware that as Queen she needed to be held not to the same standard as the rest of us - but to a higher one.

Cornettoninja · 15/01/2022 13:54

He clearly likes a pint and no doubt would have drunk one in the pub in Bath

So what? Was the pub open (albeit with table/distancing restrictions in place)…. Yes it was so it’s a complete non-point.

It’s a shame because your other example of Kevan Jones seems legitimate but he is also very wrong, it doesn’t make the Downing Street fiasco any better does it? Your grasping at straws attempts to discredit Starmer are just pathetic in all honesty. If you have to reach that far to try and drag it down to the level of Boris and his staff you surely have to question what you’re defending.

EngTech · 15/01/2022 13:55

A case of lead by example and not a case of rules don’t apply to me 😾

No one is above the law, or are they ?

CorrBlimeyGG · 15/01/2022 13:59

@EngTech Except that in this case, the rules did apply and were not broken. Have you read anything beyond the thread title?

bigbeatmanifesto · 15/01/2022 13:59

It's been confirmed it was food and drinks in between and at the end of a meeting within guidelines, hardly wine Friday's, multiple parties & a party the night before the DoE's funeral a man who dedicated his life to this country.
The way the conservatives have behaved is atrocious.

Frazzled2207 · 15/01/2022 14:06

If you look into the rules at the time the pic was taken there was absolutely nothing that happened which was against the rules at the time.

Shameful for the daily fail to put up this non story (which they’ve run before!) to try and distract from the real story

Clavinova · 15/01/2022 14:08

He has admitted to going to the party in May 2020 and that alone I think signed off on them being something that they should do.

He said he thought he was attending a work event and left after 25 minutes - even so, I don't see how drinks on the lawn is a green flag to a party in the basement when he is away for the weekend.

bigbeatmanifesto · 15/01/2022 14:12

Come off it not only does he live there, what work event is a boyb to make the most of the weather, an invite was sent out to 100 staff members, His wife attended! What meeting is she a part off? He might of only been outside 25 mins but he wasn't outside telling everyone to get back to work he was outside enjoying the party. Your flogging a dead horse.
kittensinthekitchen · 15/01/2022 14:14

He clearly likes a pint and no doubt would have drunk one in the pub in Bath.

@Clavinova

Have you seen photographic evidence of that?

We have seen photographic evidence of an email sent to over 100 people inviting them for drinks in the PM's garden.
We have seen photographic evidence of a large capacity drinks fridge being delivered to no.10, alongside witness testimony of it's purpose.

kirinm · 15/01/2022 14:15

@sashagabadon

I bet there’s plenty of mp’s frantically think back to various times and double checking what the rules were. Keir supported all the rules and made a big point of doing so in fact he and his mp’s often called for more draconian ones or to keep them for longer Hmm so of course he has to obey them.
And he did.
Clavinova · 15/01/2022 14:17

he was outside enjoying the party

Do you have a photo of Boris Johnson 'enjoying the party''? He looks serious in the zoom quiz and the other garden photo.

kirinm · 15/01/2022 14:17

@Againstmachine

Kier wanted worse restrictions many of the time and has supported the Tories getting their obscene laws through.

It might be not worst he could do, but how about not doing it and go home instead of staying behind and having a beer.

He didn't stay behind. They ate dinner before reconvening the meeting that was going on before they stopped for dinner.
kirinm · 15/01/2022 14:22

@MoggyP

It does however explain why the Opposition is not sticking the boot in.

They know that there's just enough shit about them ready to cone tumbling out

Do you honestly believe if they're was any shit the Daily Mail wouldn't be relying on a crap picture published in The Sun many months ago? There is no other shit other than Tory related shit. The desperation in this article is proof of that!
TooBigForMyBoots · 15/01/2022 14:26

@2X4B523P, that article is so obvious in its desperation to deflect from our government's flagrant flouting of the rules in place at the time.

Please tell me you're not falling for it.

kittensinthekitchen · 15/01/2022 14:27

@Clavinova

I asked if you have photographic evidence that he would have enjoyed a pint in the pub in Bath.

Why are you being so selective in which parts of people's comments you are answering/acknowledging?

Do you have any photographic evidence of Keir Starmer breaking lockdown law?

Clavinova · 15/01/2022 14:28

I asked if you have photographic evidence that he would have enjoyed a pint in the pub in Bath.

I think my post answered that question.
