Sorry if this has already been done, but are we expecting any sort of update from Boris ?
I don’t watch the news anymore so I’m not up to date.

@milly74 what has caused the GP to change how they’re run? Is there anything that’s happened in this 2 year period that you can think of that’s meant surgeries have had to alter how they offer care?

Wizzbangfizz · 01/01/2022 17:30

The NHS problems run far deeper than finding, you could chuck every penny this country has at it and it still wouldn't help - it needs urgent root and branch reform but no political party is willing to be brave as it's such an emotive issue.

Ah you mean the "because of covid" excuse? Nice try. Really nice first chance they got they threw their patients under a bus. Covid was and is the gift that keeps giving for them

Dd had a non urgent not particularly important hospital appointment this week that we all expect to take ten minutes because we had persuaded our GP to make a referral. It took 2 hours as the registrar and consultant found something more interesting that expected and carried out further investigations, meaning they and various other staff went home late.

Next time we see them, we will ask them why they didn't get the memo.

Incognito22333 · 01/01/2022 17:42

I don’t think schools have been told anything because we have started getting emails from schools of our 4 kids stating business as normal and perhaps some staffing issue but they are confident they will manage it just fine. And usual lateral flows to be taken and extra emphasis on that

MrsHamlet · 01/01/2022 17:46

Of course schools haven't been told anything... we don't go back til Tuesday. Sunday or Monday for the updates.

MrsPsmalls · 01/01/2022 17:49

'We will not comply' is the braindead equivalent of 'Brexit means Brexit' and 'Transwomen are women' The very phrases identity the perpetrators as people who think shouting it loud enough makes it so. And reminds everyone else we should never wrestle with a pig.

nevergoesaway · 01/01/2022 18:26

@milly74 it won’t let me quote you, but I genuinely don’t understand your comment. You’re saying then that covid was an excuse they we’re looking for to be able to stop treating patients and shut their doors on the public? And you’re saying covid is a “gift” to healthcare workers?

If I’ve misunderstood please correct me.

milly74 · 01/01/2022 18:28

nailed it I'd say

I'm wondering if Boris and his mates latest bet is to see who can post the most stupid comment on here and see if they can get someone to agree to it.

That’s good because I’m usually crap at understanding comments online!! Ok interesting way of looking at things. Do you know any NHS workers who have confirmed you’re absolutely correct in this? And that they’re actually thrilled covid came along and that they can finally stop having to see patients?
milly74 · 01/01/2022 18:31

i imagine a lot of the British public feel the same way

They do yes, I’ve seen a few posts like yours on Twitter, they usually have the same exact set of beliefs about covid and an answer to everything, and they have no desire or ability to be able to see things from any other point of view.

See I actually went down the whole conspiracy route a couple of times throughout this, I considered it and I read a bit about it. I was open to some of the theories and ideas that you probably believe. I like to talk to people on all sides of an argument so I’m not in an echo chamber. Then having listened to leading peer reviewed scientists, nurses and doctors who have studied and worked with covid patients, I weighed it up and realised it’s sadly very real.

We have a shit show of a government who are liars, and basically utter twats, who have let the country down badly during this pandemic. They can’t be trusted, in my opinion. But covid is not “just a cold” and it has the potential to cause havoc amongst most healthcare systems. It’s not the death rate, it’s the hospitalisation rate that the problem, this is something that clicked a while ago.

If it killed people instantly, we wouldn’t be in such a dilemma I don’t think.

Hope all that makes sense and sorry for writing so much!

Well I can't otherwise account for the rash of bizarre posts on a range of threads today.

For those watching the Tory kite flying press, The Telegraph this afternoon went with:

"Frightening new Covid data shows Boris Johnson’s omicron gamble may be about to implode"

Really ? It's behind a pay wall so I can't see that online The Mail is still going with 'live with it ' narrative so far .

But the Torygraph has long been out to get Boris, they are best ignored.

I don't think anything will change for now. Next change will probably be less restrictions but not yet
Definitely some bizarre posts on here. Not a Teacher but we have teachers in the family. The idea that they clock off at 3 30 is laughable. I have received EMAILS from Teachers at 10PM at night or on their day off.

It is more than a ' cold ' milly
It really is.

Wizzbangfizz · 01/01/2022 22:25

I've had worse colds than when I had covid frankly.
