We cannot keep imposing restrictions to prop up an NHS which fails EVERY WINTER
Talk to someone who works in a hospital. Ask them if last winter felt just like any other winter, and how this winter is shaping up compared to a pre-Covid winter.
More investment in the NHS would help, of course, no argument there. But to suggest that Covid is not adding extra pressure is ludicrous, and to use the NHS’s regular winter struggles as a reason not to comply with any restrictions is….well, words fail me, to be honest.
Back to the OP - no, we’re not expecting an announcement, unless by inference from them previously saying no restrictions before New Year. That doesn’t mean there will necessarily be restrictions after New Year, it’s pretty clear they don’t want to introduce any.
They really, really don’t want to introduce any restrictions. So if they do, it will mean that things are really desperate. Which would make it all the more important that people DO comply. If it happens, which it probably won’t.
