So as the title says I'm triple jabbed and tested positive on a lateral this morning. I've had what I thought was a cold for a few days and was testing every day due to seeing family over Xmas and have tested negative until today. Dp is also positive with no symptoms and dd17 is also positive and feels rough. Dp triple jabbed and dd double jabbed. We all have pcr's tomorrow.
So any fellow positive people come join in and let's get through isolation together

Someone linked an article in the Lancet that showed no live virus was being shedded past day 9, which backs up the ten days so I don't understand why I can't work Confused I'm hoping tomorrow the line will be completely gone though! Also school are telling us the LFT's have to continue even if you've tested positive in the previous 90 days, I think work is the same now. It's all so confusing!

HappyThursdays · 11/01/2022 10:25

that's v annoying @WreckTangled

I am day 6 I think and it's definitely turning into sinusitis (which I get a lot). So annoying as I hoped I would be better by now! Haven't tested yet but will do so later. I am crossing everything that it is negative!

cheeseybeans19 · 11/01/2022 11:22

Can I join? My son age 9 tested positive on Sunday, I just got my positive this morning. Very strong result which came up immediately, I had a feeling it would as I started with awful backache last night followed by pain at the back of my neck. Feeling cold and tired and like I’m coming down with a cold. Hoping this is as bad as it gets as I suffer with health anxiety since my mum passed away. So that’s 2 of us positive, just DP to go!

WreckTangled · 11/01/2022 11:34

cheesey my DH didn't catch it. I had the weird back ache too!

cheeseybeans19 · 11/01/2022 12:02

@WreckTangled oh really? Maybe he will escape it then! Did you find anything helped the back ache?

WreckTangled · 11/01/2022 12:04

No I just let it run it's course. It only last a few days. Paracetamol helped a bit and I would recommend a hot water bottle if your temperature isn't high. My son tested positive on Boxing Day and dh has remained negative, we have a tiny house and he didn't distance. He's the only one in the house who didn't get it!

Plantsandpuddlesuits · 11/01/2022 12:54

Day 16 here and still recovering. I don't feel ill anymore just exhausted. Keep needing to sit down. Have been popping to the shops etc and taking toddler to the park and it's really tiring me out!

DH caught it from me on day 9, we thought we had escaped it! So there's been some overlap where we were both poorly but he's got it alot milder than me and can still potter around the house whereas when I had it I was in bed for days having my meals brought on a tray etc!

I'm getting a bit frustrated at how long my recovery is taking me. I said to DH I would take toddler out all day tomorrow so he can have a full day of rest but I honestly don't think I'm up to it ☹️

StoopitAutocarrot · 11/01/2022 13:03

Dh still negative on lft, but has a temperature so went for pcr this morning.

HappyThursdays · 11/01/2022 13:56

did my day 6 LFT and it's positive :(

was really hoping to escape isolation early but it doesn't look like I will. Stuck at home now for the rest of the week most likely. This test was positive in less than a second! argh!

Benjispruce5 · 11/01/2022 15:00

DH was the only positive in my house. Three of us stayed negative. Now on his day 14 so I think we’ve escaped. I shared the bed with him too! The only difference is I had my booster 6 weeks before and his was only 2 weeks.

WreckTangled · 11/01/2022 15:04

Benj dh (who didn't get it) had his booster two weeks before ds (patient zero) got it. I had mine three months before Hmm I got it

Benjispruce5 · 11/01/2022 16:37

Oh that does throw a spanner in the works! Grin

WreckTangled · 12/01/2022 06:09

Day 14 still have a line. I'm going to ring occupational health again but I'm guessing they'll say a line is a line 🤔 so annoying.

StoopitAutocarrot · 12/01/2022 07:29

Day 3. Dh still negative.

He came up with the genius idea yesterday of giving me a kettle, tea bags, and a vacuum flask of milk in my room. Washed the flask overnight, but I’m still waiting for the “milkman” to arrive this morning. Come on DH, you know how much I need that first cuppa!

nopenottodaysatan · 12/01/2022 07:55

Day 10....still have cold like symptoms but i have tested negative this morning.
Its my sons turn now, he tested positive yesterday, very mild symptoms so far.

I hope everyone is doing ok Thanks

HappyThursdays · 12/01/2022 07:58

Day 7 here. Still feel v sinusy and struggling to get out of bed in the morning (really really unlike me).

The 3 other people in the house still clear including Dp (sharing a bed etc!).

They had a nasty non covid cold over new year when I didn't and we are now wondering if that's stopped them from getting it, whatever it was!

StoopitAutocarrot · 12/01/2022 08:09

I’ve commandeered the main bedroom with en-suite. Dh is in stepsons room ( not with us this week as he’s CEV). I appreciate how lucky we are to have those options, plus a large garden I can get into a few times a day.

Sainsburys delivery arriving today ( ready meals, satsumas, pot noodles and individual cans of GnT. Plus a big bar of Tony’s chocoloney)

Definitely feeling a bit brighter, throat still sore but not the “razor blades” rough it was previously.

Plan for the day: jigsaw, book ( Chris hadfields novel) couple of episodes of Ghosts on iplayer, knitting ( a scarf that’s been on the go for years, maybe I’ll actually get it finished!). Oh, and there’s a ukulele in the corner, I might teach myself a few chords.

LadyPenelope68 · 12/01/2022 08:56

@WreckTangled
Day 14 still have a line
☹️ not good for you.

cheeseybeans19 · 12/01/2022 08:56

I tested positive yesterday so I assume this is day 2? Feeling worse today, sore throat, aching all over, headache and blocked nose. DP still clear on lateral flow, son age 9 who tested positive on Sunday now much better but still no appetite which is not like him! I’m confused with the day 6 testing, if that is positive do you then have to isolate for the full 10 days? My boss emailed me to say he expects to see me back on the 18th 😑

LadyPenelope68 · 12/01/2022 08:57

Anyone else had the loss of taste and smell? Not liking that side of it at all, it’s very strange.

LadyPenelope68 · 12/01/2022 08:59

@cheeseybeans19
I was told by my work if I get negative day 6 and 7 then you’re free, if not then it’s the full period of isolation.

user1471604848 · 12/01/2022 09:02

This is a genuine question. If you have symptoms and test positive on a LFR, why do you need to get a PCR test?
The LFTs don't have false positives, so the PCR will just confirm what you already know.

Is it so that official Covid numbers can be tracked?

WreckTangled · 12/01/2022 09:03

@cheeseybeans19 no you're day 1. The day you test positive or get symptoms (whichever is first) is day 0.

StoopitAutocarrot · 12/01/2022 09:04

Surely you could have negatives on days 7 and 8,or 8 and 9, or 9 and 10? And once you have 2 negatives 24 hours apart you are free?

WreckTangled · 12/01/2022 09:05

@StoopitAutocarrot

Surely you could have negatives on days 7 and 8,or 8 and 9, or 9 and 10? And once you have 2 negatives 24 hours apart you are free?
Yes that's how I understand it. As long as you have two negatives 24 hours apart.
