From living in an area that thankfully had low numbers in previous waves, it’s been the opposite this time and I’m surprised how many people I know currently have it. Some of them aren’t sure where they’re catching it either (no kids/jobs); are triple jabbed and ‘careful’ with mask wearing etc.

  1. A family member and a friend.

I was a close contact on the 22nd but I didn't catch it myself.

About 30, quite a few of those have never had it before and are fully vaccinated and boosted. On the plus side, other than feeling grotty, they are all ok.

Over the last 2 weeks, about 20 including 1 of my DDs. Most are in their 20s and friends of my DDs, although I know of 2 in their 50s. The younger ones have not been very ill and mainly picked up through lateral flow testing - they wouldn’t have known they had it otherwise. The 2 older ones have been more ill but not hospitalised. All vaccinated.

3 currently but overall since the start, I've known of 16.

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 29/12/2021 08:27

@MarchSurprise

Zero - my circle is controversially mostly unvaccinated. A couple have colds and have done negative LFTs.

Whilst unvaccinated we are all taking precautions such as regularly testing, avoiding crowded places and wearing masks.

I'm hoping you know this but worth saying just in case, regular testing isn't a precaution. It won't help in stopping you catching covid in any way

I know of 2 people but I dont really know them personally

GlowWine · 29/12/2021 08:33

None, but I do have a very small social circle.... our area is only second to London as rates got though.

Chocoqueen · 29/12/2021 08:37

Zero. But then I only know 2 people who have had it since March 2020 (knowingly anyway, I guess people could have had it before mass testing)

Although not all personally I must admit 😉

Ostryga · 29/12/2021 08:51

10 who currently have it and 6 who’ve just come out of isolation.

I went though the whole pandemic only knowing 1 person in my social/family circle to have it. It’s slightly unnerving!

Dd and I have been in contact with 4 of the people (albeit only for a short time and no hugging etc) and still testing negative, so finger crossed we make it to New Year without having to isolate.

Siameasy · 29/12/2021 08:53

Three people at work

FASDE1517 · 29/12/2021 08:54

Literally more than 30. No one with more than the sniffles but so so many at the moment.

diamondpony80 · 29/12/2021 08:57

Quite a few, and I never really heard of anyone I knew having covid in previous waves.

A few asymptomatic (tested because they were close contacts) and a few got it like a bad cold. Haven't heard of anyone with a really bad dose of it, but I think pretty much everyone I know is vaccinated.

MissMaple82 · 29/12/2021 08:57

And I bet none of these are even really ill

Siameasy · 29/12/2021 08:59

@MissMaple82

Yup Actually just remembered I know two others None are ill And another had it before Xmas unvaccinated and said it was a mild cold.

I think isolation will end soon. It’s impractical

Kshhuxnxk · 29/12/2021 08:59

@CoedenNadolig

0 but then in two years of this bloody pandemic I've only known 2 people have it and one worked in a hospital and I worked with her husband who understandibly caught it from her.

Me and my son haven't had it, my mother and grandmother who I visit daily haven't had it. My brother and his wife +3 children haven't caught it.

No work colleague other than the one mentioned has had it, and we all work in the community and have done so on a face to face basis throughout the pandemic 🤷🏻‍♀️

It's bizzare. However covid does exist and is real. I think me my family and my colleagues are just an anomaly 🤣

I currently know 1 and in total since it began personally know 9.

At this time that I am on annual leave and all my friends are busy with their plans and families… zero.

We are not catching up with each other or meeting enough for us to update each other on who has it or not. The fact that we are not talking about it doesn’t mean there are less cases.
