What day do you think we are likely to go into lockdown if another one is introduced?

We have our wedding day on the 27th but I can't say it's looking too promising. Anybody know when they are planning on making an announcement?

It's starting in 5 minutes

FanGirlX · 18/12/2021 21:18

@GarlandsinGreece

The 27th and the 30th are being floated as possible dates.
Where?
LaurieFairyCake · 18/12/2021 21:18

Well a circuit breaker is a lockdown

A 2 week lockdown

The amouse bouche of lockdowns HmmGrin

A year ago today I went into hospital to have my baby. I sat up all night reading these exact words, it won't happen, it won't happen.

I turned my phone off, had a planned section. Dh stayed an hour. Left to collect toddler and was asked to collect me Sunday, so 20th.

I was in a private room, due to work. I turned my phone on to call Dh and sil 19th. Then off.

The nurses came in at 430 on the 19th and said can we sit with you to watch the emergency press conference. I had no idea whAt they were talking about. They brought tea and the four of us sobbed as they announced what everyone had said they wouldn't. The tears from the nurses were pure relief.

I feel a serious sense of repetition this weekend

Toddlerteaplease · 18/12/2021 21:19

My sister is getting married on the 4th of January. I don't think there will be another lockdown. But after that date they can do what they like!

the80sweregreat · 18/12/2021 21:19

I follow the news and it's been brewing since the 22nd nov ( I was in isolation myself then with the virus )
I felt it was enviable then to be honest but was as just hoping it was all going to be fine
I don't think it will , but you never know?

GarlandsinGreece · 18/12/2021 21:19

Tabloid chatter, derived from a DM report, but that shit is always annoyingly accurate:

DaisyNGO · 18/12/2021 21:20

@AnyFucker

Even on this thread, it appears people are ready for lockdown

Why ???????

I don't want one

But I expect it because of what I see in Europe....restrictions for a while now, never had a mask free summer over there etc.

Maddymorphosis · 18/12/2021 21:21

'2 weeks' lol yeah right

x2boys · 18/12/2021 21:22

@the80sweregreat

It might not happen? It feels pretty bleak , but can there enforce it? Will people comply ? It is so grim !!
If we do go into lockdown and I hope we don't ,they can control pubs and clubs etc closing down but they can't control people mixing in their own homes I'm hoping they don't close down schools but if they do they have to do it properly they can't have every man and their dog claiming to be keyworkers they are either open or they or not My child is in a special school and has a full EHCP regardless of what the government's said last year he stilll couldn't go into school
NoNameHere12 · 18/12/2021 21:22

Friends are getting married on the 30th. They will be devastated if their wedding can’t go ahead- it’s already been postponed so much!!

the80sweregreat · 18/12/2021 21:24

It is devastating to be honest , but when the scientists met that Saturday in November I thought hmm! :(

paranoidnamechanger · 18/12/2021 21:25

Weddings can still go ahead, it’s just that numbers will be capped.
Lorriestakingppe · 18/12/2021 21:25

It's just unbearable

ElectraBlue · 18/12/2021 21:26

Who is going to follow this anyway? how would we pay for it?

Personally I will never again follow any restriction on social interaction.

Thanks. Yeah, the government do seem to like softening us up by leaking this shit to the tabloids first.

"The earlier interventions happen the greater the effect they will have (high confidence). This may also mean that they can be kept in place for a shorter duration"

jimmyhill · 18/12/2021 21:28

Good point. The 29th then. The point being, lockdown will start on the first day most people would have been back at work. That way Christmas holidays aren't completely fucked.

ninadust · 18/12/2021 21:29

Thanks for everyone's replies. I have messaged the venue to look at alternative options just in case. Can only keep positive at this point but it's completely and utterly shit :( i'm pregnant too so this was really the only time we could have the wedding before baby!

"The timing of such measures is crucial. Delaying until 2022 would greatly reduce the effectiveness of such interventions and make it is less likely that these would prevent considerable pressure on health and care settings."

Retrievemysanity · 18/12/2021 21:32

I’d imagine they’ll do it just after Christmas. The whole situation is just so grim. Hope your wedding goes ahead as planned, op.

crispsinasandwich · 18/12/2021 21:32

I hope you get to have your wedding OP.

Personally I don't think there will be a lockdown- there will be recommendations not to get together over Christmas- people will think we did that last year yet the government ignored their own advice - when cases rocket in January the government will blame the public- they always like to pass the blame to someone else.

52andblue · 18/12/2021 21:34

My prediction: Boxing Day / 27th announcement for Restrictions from 28th. Initially a 2 week 'circuit breaker' repeated 3 times. Until mid Feb (ish)

IWannaWishYouANutNutsChristmas · 18/12/2021 21:35

@Treez21

Am I going to be the only one in complete shock if this does actually happen??
I'm shocked that anybody is shocked tbh.

Where did you think "highest cases of the pandemic and doubling fast" was going?

GreenLunchBox · 18/12/2021 21:36

What's the difference between a circuit breaker and a lockdown?
