Potentially ruined Christmas.

Dd22 phoned last night to tell us her boss tested positive for covid yesterday ( they even went into work after doing the PCR test). She's supposed to be coming home for Christmas on Tuesday (, she's at uni 100 miles away). She's being hesitant about getting a PCR herself as she knows if it's positive she's gonna have to self isolate.Weve booked her one for this afternoon anyway.
I just feel panicky now about her coming home,myself DH and ds all had covid a month ago and I really don't want it in the house again (as it may be Omicron so we could get it again ).
Leaving her to self isolate down there will be worrysome anyway as she has history of self harming/suicide attempts and if she's alone over Christmas that'll heighten her feelings for that.
I know alot of this is what ifs until she tests positive/negative but it's sending my anxiety through the roof!

Have you been able to have boosters or can you book them yet?

But if she has a history of self harm I'd bring her home.

Get her home. I'm not usually always a fan of 'her mental health is more important' in the way it can be used these days but... her mental health in this case really really is more important.

If you had it a few months ago the chances are low. She can always isolate within your house in a room.

Her mental health is the most important thing here not the very slight chance you may get Covid again. She may not even have it. Of course she can’t spend Christmas alone.

Her medical history should take precedent over anything else. Go and get her ASAP. It is entirely possible she doesn’t have it / will not get it.

1)You may have had Omicron last month anyway
2) If your daughter is positive and doesn't come home, you are likely to come into contact with Omicron in the next 2 weeks and could still contract it
3) With your daughters history, there is no way I would leave her to self isolate alone
4) She may not even have it

For what it’s worth I have suspected Omicron from a party. At least 60% of the party tested positive. Those that had a recent Covid infection (last month or 2) did not catch it. Even though spouses have.

Go and get her. You all had it a month ago. Are jabbed. There's a lot of new evidence that says recent infection with any variant is good enough protection against Omnicron. She can do a pcr test if your anxiety is high but honestly her mental health is more important.

Presumably, you’re all fully vaccinated/boosted?
You can’t leave her there alone.

You are highly unlikely to get it again after month, omicron is a variant of covid, not a totally new disease. Go and get your daughter.

I would go and get her today - I definitely wouldn't leave her alone with her mental health history. I am reassured that so many posters are also saying this.

She doesn’t have to self isolate now. Surely the best course of action is that she does the pcr and then travels to you early. Then if she’s positive she’s isolating at your house.

Go and get her. The chance of catching it again is extremely low, but the risks to her mental health are very high.

Christmas isn’t ruined as you’ll be able to spend time with each other.

So I wouldn’t hesitate to get her even if I hadn’t had covid already!
