On a scale of 1-10?

I'm triple vaxxed but haven't had Covid yet (lucky me)!

I'd put myself on about a 5 anxiety wise for Delta, a 7/8 for Omicron.

Just don't know who or what to believe on infection risks...

Potential new lockdown:1
Endless new virus mutations and climate change impact on humans:10

He indeed said that @TheVampiresWife I found it quite reassuring for the longer term scale of things!

A vaccine to tackle all variants I think is already in the works.

The only possible good think for this one is that pretty much everyone will have been infected by it in such a short time that the will then have immunity which may act as a “circuit breaker” of its own accord.

However in the meantime it will put enormous pressure on vital services due to people off sick or isolating and also the pressure on the nhs from the huge number (although small %) of those that are actually Ill enough to be in hospital.

Bricksgotatrident · 15/12/2021 21:39

1 for Covid.

10 for the state the country and society because of lockdown, hysteria and now segregation, discrimination and dissension. The future is more concerning for those reasons.

FreakinFrankNFurter · 15/12/2021 21:39

About 2/10 for catching it (with the old wobble every now and then)
DH had it about 6 weeks ago and was rough for a few days but nothing too bad. DS and I didn't catch it.

6/10 but rising for restrictions/school closures /impact on seevices/ not getting healthcare if we need it

lolapalooza3 · 15/12/2021 21:43

2/10

WhoWants2Know · 15/12/2021 21:48
@WhoWants2Know - this is exactly the worry, but it won’t just be healthcare rotas which have gaps - people will be sick and isolating everywhere in every sector. The petrol shortage showed haulage is already fucked - these are the impacts we need to worry about (as well as inadequate care in hospital for the small percentage who become seriously unwell, raising the chance of death for those people, and raising the chance of death across the board, COVID or no)
That's exactly what scares me. It's not the idea of being sick myself. It's the gaps left in our "just in time" society by lots of people being sick at the same time,

I've been reading for a couple months about ambulance waiting times outside my nearest A&E topping 9 hours, and that was before omicron.

I had a colleague test positive today. He's had 3 jabs, and feels awful. His (also 3 vaccine) wife hasn't left the bed in days. If enough people feel like that, things will grind to a halt anyway.

bumblingbovine49 · 15/12/2021 21:49

Catching Covid about 3-4 . I am 57 and severely obese though

More restrictions ( short of lockdown) 4-5. Not great but also not the end of the world as far as I am concerned . I'm not too bothered about masks, vaccine passports etc
Full lockdown 0 because it isn't going to happen so not worth getting worked up about.

Any member of my family needing medical care in the next 3-4 months 10. This is truly the main worry I have

BringBackThinEyebrows · 15/12/2021 21:56

@Onegingerhead

Covid-wise - 1 Lockdown, societal consequences and such - 10
Same. I'm double jabbed and haven't caught covid yet.

Phew. I was worried that I was so desperate for a crumb of good news, I'd made some up!

Not so concerned about catching it (though I do battle with health anxiety so that goes up and down)
Very concerned (8) about the state of hospitals and whether they can cope.

Fendidntdrake · 15/12/2021 22:20

9 re effects on societal infrastructure if omicron really takes a hold

onlyreadingneverposting8 · 15/12/2021 22:47

Covid for me personally (had it once) - 2
For my kids - 3/4 except one who's CEV - 6 (he's had it once)
Restrictions 2
Affect on NHS 10
Affect on the economy 9
