On a scale of 1-10?

I'm triple vaxxed but haven't had Covid yet (lucky me)!

I'd put myself on about a 5 anxiety wise for Delta, a 7/8 for Omicron.

Just don't know who or what to believe on infection risks...

8 - I am early 30s, double vaccinated and nothing underlying and still recovering from covid in September. Shocked at how it impacted me.

10 - worried NHS will be overwhelmed and not cope should it be needed for non-covid concerns.

I can't put a number on it, but one of the things Chris Whitty said tonight made me worry. "It's an inevitable and pretty depressing reality that lots of health and social care staff will get COVID at the same time, leaving big gaps in rotas"

Pretty similar to the doom and gloom perpetuated through the last Lockdown briefings.

Yet here are.

About COVID - 0

I had it last year, and I had no symptoms despite being morbidly obese and asthmatic; I only got tested because I had been exposed. I'm now triple vaccinated.

As far as restrictions, I'm in Ohio, we don't really have any anymore. People who want to wear masks do, others don't. Everything is open and it's mostly business as usual. I don't know about hospitals; the website for one of the two in my city says that the current ER wait time is 50 minutes, if that is an indication of anything. That's actually pretty high, it's usually more like 10 or 15 minutes.

enjoyingscience · 15/12/2021 18:50

@WhoWants2Know - this is exactly the worry, but it won’t just be healthcare rotas which have gaps - people will be sick and isolating everywhere in every sector. The petrol shortage showed haulage is already fucked - these are the impacts we need to worry about (as well as inadequate care in hospital for the small percentage who become seriously unwell, raising the chance of death for those people, and raising the chance of death across the board, COVID or no)

Mybalconyiscracking · 15/12/2021 18:50

My DD tested positive this afternoon. If it is Omicron my other DD will miss her best friend’s party on Saturday, she has had a shit year and this will make her even more unhappy.
This is what I am worried about!

JanisMoplin · 15/12/2021 18:53

@NightmareSlashDelightful My views on restrictions and lockdowns have changed after seeing just how much they have affected children and young people. I have only just managed to hang on to my own sanity myself. Now we have the vaccines, I will endure almost anything so schools and unis don't shut.

NannaMcPhoo · 15/12/2021 18:53

When it first started making the news Feb 2020 - 9/10
During the delta outbreak - 4/10
Now - 1/10

SilverGlassHare · 15/12/2021 18:55

Not at all. I’ve had my jabs, I have my booster booked for January, I had Covid mildly last month. I’m done with worrying about something that is for the VAST majority like a cold especially with vaccines.

NotSonicTheHedgehog · 15/12/2021 18:56

Covid - personally for myself 2-3 for my gran 6-7 but she’s triple vaxxed and we can make sure she can minimise her contacts if that’s what she wants.

Restrictions that mean a full lockdown or not seeing friends and family 10. I’ve just recently been diagnosed with bipolar type 2. I finally feel I’m getting on top of it. I worry another full lockdown would break me Sad

SayAaa · 15/12/2021 18:57

Worry about covid: 1

Worry about the impact of the stress and uncertainty on everyone: 9

Jacketpotato84 · 15/12/2021 18:58

3 I don't want to get poorly, who does!
The kids are off school soon so that reduces the chance of getting covid.
It's when they go back I'll be highly anxious if they close the schools in Jan but I doubt that will happen.
In fact I will be absolutely livid if they close the schools and leave pubs and clubs open but again I very much doubt that will happen hence my 3 answer.

RestingMurderousFace · 15/12/2021 18:58

3/10

I'm over it.

Phyllis321 · 15/12/2021 18:59

Catching it 2
Full lockdown with remote learning 6

I’m a teacher and hate teaching over Zoom.

Lanique · 15/12/2021 19:00

Covid - 0
Full lockdown - 10

This is all getting ridiculous now.

ThievesTemple · 15/12/2021 19:00

Don’t care about lockdown, will cope as we did before.
Extremely worried about the NHS, horrible thought to think there will not be anyone there in an emergency.

NotSonicTheHedgehog · 15/12/2021 19:02

@LifeIsWhat thank you Flowers

Jacketpotato84 · 15/12/2021 19:03

I think they will consider giving vaccines to under 12s soon

dilly123 · 15/12/2021 19:04
@twosticksandanapple - I don't really know anything about RSV. Is that a child illness? I've only ever seen it mentioned on MN. Interesting to hear that from SA.
My now deceased toddler dd was severely disabled including under developed lungs & reliant on 02 ... I was told about the possibility of her receiving a vaccine to help prevent her from RSV as she was extremely vulnerable to even a common cold turning into a deadly chest infection.. at the time consisted of 3 jabs but I was told by my LHA it was too expensive to administer.. she ultimately died of acute pneumonia which indeed started as a sniffle... There are thousands of fragile children that would benefit from the vaccination for RSV

Siameasy · 15/12/2021 19:06

Zero for Covid. Double jabbed, booster booked and have had Covid.
6/7 for them closing schools, cancelling all the joyful things in life and the inconvenience of it all.

Zotter · 15/12/2021 19:09

Listening to Dr Nabarro of WHO stresses to me the risk is our NHS being overwhelmed due to the expected extremely high cases of omicron even if turns out to be milder and more and more double vaccinated and booster.

BiscuitLover3679 · 15/12/2021 19:09

For myself- 4/5
For being sick and looking after a toddler- 7/8
Vulnerable - 8
Restrictions- 8
NHS overwhelmed - 9/10
