On a scale of 1-10?

I'm triple vaxxed but haven't had Covid yet (lucky me)!

I'd put myself on about a 5 anxiety wise for Delta, a 7/8 for Omicron.

Just don't know who or what to believe on infection risks...

OP posts:
FutureHope · 15/12/2021 19:48

Same as others.

Covid 0-1
Lockdown and schools closing 10-11

IfIHadAHeart · 15/12/2021 19:54

Covid - 0
Endless fucking restrictions, repeated boosters, pointless lockdowns and the ongoing misery - 10

BogRollBOGOF · 15/12/2021 19:54

Being ill: 1.5, no one wants to be ill, and I could do without a tedious recovery, but lots of "mild" illnesses can do that and if that's the price of a full and active life for most of the weeks of the year, that's life.
10 days of isolating while feeling functional is a deeply unpleasant prospect (especially if according to DH's work policy, I'm trapped living in his fucking home office)

Restrictions: 10
We've suffered enough misery. Poor mental health, loss of education, poor healthcare, child abuse, loss of earnings from lost business. The costs of restrictions are vast and will take years to become fully apparent. The erosion of personal freedoms is deeply alarming.

FestiveMelts · 15/12/2021 19:54

Zero fear re Covid, my only (big) worry is the response to it.

MummyMe87 · 15/12/2021 19:55

I’m triple vaxxed, fit, young healthy (bar being slightly overweight), work in a hospital (maternity, so high turnover of people plus visitors). I’m on my last day of isolation for my 3rd bout of covid.

Anxiety levels for covid - 1/2, for lockdown/restrictions -10!!!

I do not think people are aware of the oncoming financial impact -

Huge taxation rises and massive cuts to public services

OpalOwl · 15/12/2021 19:55

Worry of catching covid about 7 or 8.
I had the Alpha strain(I think) it didnt really go well for me and I ended up in hospital.
I then got long covid and just over a year on I'm finally starting to feel like my old self again.

Worry of lockdown 7.
It wont really affect me as my workplace wont close and no children in school.
I worry for those it will affect though.

Ohpulltheotherone · 15/12/2021 20:21

As per 99% of pps

Getting covid or being ill from it -1/2

But the wider consequences really do worry me especially the financial implications - price hikes, tax increases, welfare cuts, fuel rises etc etc

And I really really do not want more lockdowns and restrictions so 10 for all of those things

TheCreamCaker · 15/12/2021 20:24
  1. I had Covid in July, was on a ventilator for 2 weeks (had Pneumonia and a stroke whilst unconscious too), was in hospital for 6 weeks.

This time, this new type apparently doesn't affect the lungs. I'm double-jabbed, have had the flu jab, also Pneumoccochal one.

Worried about catching covid - quite a bit. I have a heart condition so anything that could exasperate that (coughing is a risk) is scary. But I also feel the same way about any common illness, so not a particularly covidy worry. I’m a single parent of 4, 2 with ASD so anything that inhibits me will have a knock on effect. But I’ve had 2 vaccines and a booster so 🤞🏻 It’s enough.

Really wish they could hurry up figure out what it is that makes the difference between asymptomatic, mild, and severe reactions.

1dayatatime · 15/12/2021 20:28

++++

I completely agree with you that people are either unaware or prefer not to think about the future financial impact, or future mental health impact or educational impact.

Whilst there will undoubtedly be tax rises and cuts to public services both of these are electorally unpopular so I think future governments will prefer to inflate the debt away through high inflation, and we can already see this starting to happen. This still has the effect of making people poorer, especially those that are already less well off.

Sosoo · 15/12/2021 20:30

I’m a bit worried about catching it again. I’ve been left with some residual side effects that I don’t like and wouldn’t want it again. It was horrible.

Restrictions in winter don’t bother me as I am a hermit until March.

Thewiseoneincognito · 15/12/2021 20:39

I’m genuinely concerned about a lot to be honest, we’re in an extremely dangerous point in our society and I truly fear how we will look on the other side of this pandemic. What concerns me now:

Omicron multiple reinfection risk with unknown consequences

Chaos caused by mass sickness across the whole country

Need for continuous boosters and vaccine mandates

The next variant that will no doubt be worse

Bankruptcies from no support package and huge job losses

Children’s education being poor quality due to ongoing staff sickness

Long Covid implications from Omicron

NHS services impacted by Omicron surges

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 15/12/2021 20:44

Worried for my own health should I catch it? About 2

Worried for my DPs if they catch it? 6

Worried about not being able to see people over the next few weeks if we or they catch it? 7

Worried about imposed lockdown? 1. Seems unlikely Johnson will act.

Worried about health service and supply chain collapse? 10. It's pretty certain we're in for a very tough few months.

Littlecaf · 15/12/2021 20:47

Worries about catching it - 2
Lockdown restrictions - 8

We’d definitely do a proper childcare bubble with my parents if that is allowed again though. We didn’t last time as nobody was vaxxed but I can’t work with a 6 & 4 year old and homeschool - so if we’re not seeing anyone else I don’t see why not.

Roundeartheratchriatmas · 15/12/2021 21:00

Believing I will be seriously ill ? 2.

Believing the nhs and other vital services will be seriously effected or even overwhelmed ? About an 8 or 9 at the moment.

My personal feelings are that I’d hate a lockdown and wouldn’t fully comply due to the serious effects the last one it had in my MH but I would certainly be willing to avoid excessive social contact.

userxx · 15/12/2021 21:08

@Yellow85

Just to say, isn’t it amazing how our views are so drastically different to that of 2020. We’d all have been a 10 for catching it.

I disagree, many of us weren't too concerned back then either.

stockpilingallthecheese · 15/12/2021 21:10

Currently isolating with covid and am fortunate to be barely affected at all so 0. Parents and grandparents have all had it and all were fine with it as well.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 15/12/2021 21:12

@Onegingerhead

Covid-wise - 1 Lockdown, societal consequences and such - 10
This is me too
sausagepastapot · 15/12/2021 21:12

Covid 0

everything else going to shit 4?

I have it now and I am absolutely fine. Fine.

Wizzbangfizz · 15/12/2021 21:14

About covid - 1 although will be happier when DH has booster tomorrow.

Shit scared about lockdown and depression though so will put that at a 10.

Zotter · 15/12/2021 21:16

Fromdownwest, wrote

Also his eact words

David Nabarro, World Health Organization special envoy for covid-19, has separately appealed to government leaders: “Stop using lockdowns as a primary means of controlling the virus. Develop better systems for doing it.” Speaking in an interview with Spectator magazine he said, “The only way that lockdowns are justified is to buy you time to reorganise, regroup, rebalance your resources and protect your healthcare workers.”

I didn’t say he was calling definitively for lockdowns today but Dr Nabarro stressed today people should reduce to essential contacts only, (he said he includes emotional as essential), face masks, sd, open windows/good ventilation and get boosters.

RagzReturnedUnwrapped · 15/12/2021 21:18

For myself and my family in terms of the virus itself? About a 1.
For the country as a whole with high case numbers having the potential to seriously disrupt essential services, maybe a 7?

TheVampiresWife · 15/12/2021 21:25

The next variant that will no doubt be worse

Unless I misheard, Chris Whitty said today that a variant like this one would be unlikely again. He also said that at some point there would be vaccines which could tackle all variants at once, negating the need for regular boosters.
