What are you reasons for not getting the booster?

I'm not. I'm double jabbed but won't be getting the booster. I'm past caring.

LemonadeSunshine · 12/12/2021 21:41

Yep, walked in last week and had it within 10 minutes. Actually felt a little tearful from the relief of being in the first world and able to access it easily, rather than in a country where it's just not available or easy to get

ToastofLandon · 12/12/2021 21:41

@onewayandday

Me, I won't be getting the booster. I've had both my Pfizer jabs and 2 weeks later found out I had myocarditis after crushing chest pains days after the jab. Coincidence or not, I don't know.
This year I’ve had awful health anxiety (covid related, plus other things) which have given me awful chest pains when the anxiety strikes. I’ve just about got it under control but know I’m going to be plagued with anxiety again wondering if it’s myocarditis if I have the booster and get any side effects.

Other reasons for not getting the booster…We had Covid in our house last Christmas and for us it was mild. Also my monthly antibody tests as part of the ONS study, continue to show I have antibodies. I was happy to have the first 2 vaccines but this whole thing is becoming a farce.

LastTrainEast · 12/12/2021 21:42

BubblingRiver Do you think "never ending mutations" are designed to annoy people? There is a reality that we must deal with. Wishing it were not so gets us nowhere.

It's NOT FAIR if that's what you mean, but life isn't.

And no it's not comparable to the flu. That's just something the extreme antivaxers say. but we shouldn't take them seriously. They believe in all sorts of crazy things.

Porfre · 12/12/2021 21:42

I will but not keen to get stuck in a queue.

Will have to time it right, but might not be in the next 2 weeks then

Comedycook · 12/12/2021 21:44

I'm not anti Vax or a conspiracy theorist, but the longer this goes on for, they sound less and less crazy...

IncessantNameChanger · 12/12/2021 21:44

I was going to get my booster after Christmas as I was hospitalized after my first AZ. Probably just coincidence but I'd rather not risk being in hospital over Christmas.

However I tried to book a booster and the app crashed last week, now it seems I will be catching omi in the next month anyway.

Not sure I want covid and a vax on top of each other. Also not keen on three monthly boosters. If I do get mine before Christmas I wont be getting another until my next winter flu jab.

Just personal choice as it's a massive faff.

Remmy123 · 12/12/2021 21:44

it's very mildI don't see any point.

Also, I felt shocking when I had my vaccines.

Now5sos · 12/12/2021 21:45

I've had shoulder and upper arm problems since my 2 vaccines, waiting for a physio appointment atm
Can't raise my arm above shoulder height and have constant pain
Been told this can happen with vaccines (Not just covid vaccine) but tbh I'm not too worried about covid

Chachasha · 12/12/2021 21:46

This thread is ridiculous. I really hope it's not representative. It's almost like we deserve extinction. One injection other countries would be devoutly thankful for. We're too spoilt and lazy to show up.

Just don't go to A and E if this doesn't work out as you assume it will.

luckynumber7 · 12/12/2021 21:46

I agree it is absolutely well worth supplementing with vitamin D, and things like this should be promoted more, as well as improving metabolic health by trying to optimise weight etc.
I am unsure about a booster. I have had 2 x AZ. As I understand this will give some protection from serious disease but it will not prevent transmission as discussed on the Andrew Marr programme this morning.
I had very unpleasant ongoing symptoms from the vaccine and am reluctant to take another especially as it will be Pfizer. And I cannot find any readily available research on mixing vaccines.

fabricfanatic · 12/12/2021 21:46

No immediate plans to do so. I was slightly anxious about it the first go around, and I'm not at all happy with the prospect of repeated doses multiple times a year.

BackBackBack · 12/12/2021 21:46
@BackBackBack if that is the case then why are we talking about going back into restrictions again & travel bans again? I got my 2 vaccines “for the greater good” & all it’s done has made a normally healthy 26 year old have constant fatigue, colds, coughs & generally run down. I’m choosing not to get a booster because when will this end?
It will end when enough people are vaccinated to reduce the impact of the virus into something milder and more manageable.

In the meantime restrictions are needed because the NHS is buckling. And this isn't just about getting sick with covid - it's about needing any treatment at all. There are people dying of heart attacks in the back of ambulances because the paramedics have had to wait hours because the hospital is full and they cannot unload their patient. Stroke victims are suffering life changing injuries because they can't get the treatment drugs within the time limit to be effective.

This is about trying to keep as many people out of hospital with covid - so that it stays a relatively mild illness that you can see out at home. Which keeps the NHS available for the day to day - which includes the operations and cancer treatments which are on hold. It also means that the NHS should have capacity for you if a nasty accident were to happen - whereas at the moment I really would not fancy my chances going into hospital right now, with short staffed wards and patients on trollies I'm corridors because there are no beds available.

@Remmy123 who says it’s very mild?

NMC2022 · 12/12/2021 21:47

@Ariann I got free vitamin d as I was shielding but it was a low dose
Had my bloods done and my vitamin D was 12 Blush I'm a pale redhead who works indoors all day with no windows
Now taking 4000 a day plus whatever is in my multivitamin so maybe 4400 after a high dose course

Benjispruce5 · 12/12/2021 21:48

@luckynumber7 I had 2x AZ but my booster was a half dose of Moderna. I was fine.

Flapjak · 12/12/2021 21:49

Had my two jabs and covid, not sure how confident i am that a booster is going to be that effective against this variant as supposedly it is so different to the others . What iscthe point if a) it doesnt stop us from catching and therefore passing it on and b) if we are in a low risk group and catch corona (as we are told it wont stop us getting it and passing it on) then we arent going to get seriously ill with or without the vaccination. I am struggling to see through the misinformation. South Africa are reporting low hospital admissions ao why the panic and why does the booster miraculously protect us against this variant

BackBackBack · 12/12/2021 21:49

Anyway, off to bed. I sincerely hope that those who are wanting boosters have success with getting appointments.

The Pfizer CEO is already planning the fourth one for us and surprise surprise we might need sooner than he thought www.cnbc.com/2021/12/08/omicron-pfizer-ceo-says-we-may-need-fourth-covid-vaccine-doses-sooner-than-expected.html

Now that’s exactely the reason why I’m having hesitation getting the booster!!

lightand · 12/12/2021 21:51

If this thread is at all representative of the general population , then there have been an amazing amount of people who have some sort of reaction to the vaccines.

PopUpShop · 12/12/2021 21:52

I despair at how thick people can be.
