What are you reasons for not getting the booster?

Why would you not get a booster if you can? I do not understand why you wouldn’t.

Hah - sorry I thought my post hadn’t loaded

Because I’m still recovering from the first 2…

Riskyrice · 12/12/2021 20:10

I will get it but I'm not massively thrilled about it to be honest, just fed up.

Is this going to be life now? Vaccines ever few months - could there be long term health impacts from constant vaccines?

I'll get it eventually, but i'm not in any rush. The thought of having any more than an annual vaccine is pretty shit.

Valhalla17 · 12/12/2021 20:11

How many of these threads are we going to have? Hmm

megustalacerveza · 12/12/2021 20:13

@LostForIdeas

I’m very hesitant because I’m wondering what is the point of getting a booster when we are also told said vaccines are not working for omicron.

If getting a booster, I’d rather have one that actually works for the variant that is predominant iyswim

That's not what we were told. The booster is extremely effective against Omicron. That's why all the scientists and the government are telling us to get one.

Was that to me? If so, I specifically said if you were able to do so…..

Pfizer's research shows that if you had AZ for your first two jabs and then have a Pfizer booster, your protection against Omicron rises to over 70% from around 10%.

Well there's only been a trial with 3 x Pfizer jabs hasn't there, do they know how effective 2 x AZ and a Pfizer or moderna is? I'm not wildly against them of course, but I don't know what uptake will be like, 2 doses seemed fairly hefty but boosters what sounds like every 6 months, not sure.

JemimaMuddledUp · 12/12/2021 20:17

I had mine 2 months ago

Oh that's good then, didn't know they'd released that info!

What do you mean? Did you have a reaction?
Waxonwaxoff0 · 12/12/2021 20:20

I will, but probably not before the new year. I only had my second vaccine at the end of September (Pfizer) and I had Covid in August so I want to wait a bit rather than get another so soon as my immunity is probably still high.

Where are you getting your information from ? Because what you are writing is bollocks 🙄
LunaDeet · 12/12/2021 20:20

I’m on the fence. Omicron is so transmissible that we are likely to be exposed to it in the next few weeks. I don’t think I’ll get an appointment in that time frame so why bother after I’ve had it.

Two vaccines in a year is quite enough thank you.

DialsMavis · 12/12/2021 20:20

As another poster said, I will have it but not over the moon about it. When I got my first 2 I was under the impression that it dramatically reduced the chance of me passing Covid on and now that doesnt seem to the case. I know it offers some protection in this regard but I read so much conflicting information (some of which is probably misinformation). I am willing to be reconvinced that a booster will have this function though Smile.

Marypoppins19 · 12/12/2021 20:20

Does this mean children aren’t protected now then?

wanttomarryamillionaire · 12/12/2021 20:21

I was hesitant because i felt so ill after my 2nd jab. However i had it yesterday and am fine so far.

girlabouthome · 12/12/2021 20:21

They need to stop calling it a vaccine.
It's not.

It's a drug.

Partially effective and one that we will have to continue to take.

Not anti vac by any stretch, I've had all mine, but there needs to be more transparency about its efficacy and frequency requirements.
