Anti vaxxers question *title edited by MNHQ at OP's request*

Watching the local news last week our local hospitals ITU is 6/8 full with covid patients. All unvaccinated. Youngest is 20 with no underlying heath conditions. I am continually hearing about covid patients in or just out of ITU saying 'I wish I'd got the jab'.

How do you (as an anti vaxxer) reconcile your attitude but still expecting to be treated in ITU? If they said ' right, no jab, no ITU bed' would you still refuse the vaccine?

What would it (genuinely) take for you to have the jab having seen all the other anti vaxxers encouraging people to have it after realising how ill they were?

Just because someone may be “polite” doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t be called out for posting shite. And you’re right, for people like that i don’t display any empathy.

HTH

So it's ok if they don't happen to agree with you or do what you want to speak to them in this way?

Ok got it. What a good person you are- give yourself a pat on the back

too right

There are some really unpleasant people on this thread. It reminds me of question time with the loudest and most obnoxious people shouting the loudest and insulting others. It’s a but embarrassing tbh on a forum for parents.

TomelettewithGreggs · 29/11/2021 12:28

Absolute unsubstantiated drivel with a bunch of anecdata going against the data and advice of EVERY scientific body in the world and all the principles of public health.. I am not polite and I do not have empathy for anti vaxxers and their anti science. Report it.

Mischance · 29/11/2021 12:28

It's no one else's business

It is everyone's business.

The more people who are vaccinated, the less virus is circulating and the less chance it has to mutate and reproduce.

I say again IT IS NOT JUST ABOUT YOU.

We are trying to wipe this illness out (as we virtually have with TB, polio, measles, whooping cough, diphtheria). If YOU do not get vaccinated this shitshow will go on and on and on......

Turquoisesea · 29/11/2021 12:28

I think people do have personal reasons not to vaccinate, I’ve had both mine but having recently had Covid and recovered I don’t want the booster yet as I will have some natural immunity. But now I will be classed as not fully vaccinated! My DH only had 1 vaccine as he had a bad reaction to his first which he is still suffering from now, he also had Covid and has recovered fine so for him the risk of another vaccination is not worth it at the moment, my DCs (13 & 17) are not vaccinated but have recently both had Covid and are fine and will have some immunity. So I think there are many reasons why people chose to vaccinate or not and like another poster said most people decide based on personal circumstances. I think calling people names / idiots is never going to change personal opinion and just create more division.

I wouldn't be polite with flat earthers either. Even though I am a parent.

Report it?! Seriously?! I haven't said anything worthy of reporting. I haven't reported any of the abuse thrown at me, although I'd probably be entitled to. I haven't sunk to the level of the nasty posters, there is no need, that's just not me.

Obviously if you think I should be reported go ahead, but I really don't see that I've posted anything at all that should be deleted.

Bluepinkyellowcakes · 29/11/2021 12:34

Thanks Pobbles & ktel Flowers

TomelettewithGreggs · 29/11/2021 12:34

Lol. I meant report me if you think I am being rude and bullying. Calling out bad science isnt bullying.

OK, clearly misunderstood. Looked like you were saying to report me.

There has definitely been bullying language and behaviour towards my posts. Not going to report it, I think the posts should stand. If people are happy with this being how they present themselves online then so be it. It's only them that looks bad.

@mnhq why was my post about bullies deleted please?

IHateFlies · 29/11/2021 12:47

There are actual scientists who believe that only the vulnerable should have been protected and everyone else should have have carried on as normal. Very similar to how Sweden managed it.
Scientists who believe that not everyone needs vaccination, especially those who have recovered from covid.
It’s not right to abuse and shut everyone down if they have a different opinion.
The route most of the western world took may not have been the best with hindsight. Lockdowns had serious implications for many vulnerable people, many people still died yet others who wanted to discuss a different approach were dismissed.

Good job MNHQ 👏
Really this sort of unscientific drivel has no place on the largest parenting website and rightly the posters are annoyed. Even at the top of the thread it states to check information from gov.uk and the NHS so coming here and spouting unproven nonsense is hypocritical and doesn’t adhere to guidelines.

User it was a post saying that bullies don't like it when you stand your ground, too bad. That's what was deleted. Not anything scientific or unscientific at all.
Bluepinkyellowcakes · 29/11/2021 13:10

Besides, I've posted links from gov UK and apparently they weren't good enough.

Kind of ironic that this poster jumped in without being in possession of the facts .

Antivaxxers hear what they want to hear and will interpret data in a way that suits them.

TheNoonBell · 29/11/2021 13:28

I've had COVID and survived. Why would I need a short lasting jab that does not offer any additional protection? Seems that jabbing me would be a waste of resources that could be used on someone vulnerable.
