Anyone else fancy a grouch at having Covid? I’m a few days in, feeling like crap and fed up with the world in general.
Tea and sympathy to anyone in a similar position?
Catatemyhomework · 06/12/2021 22:49
Hi there, can I join. I'm on about day 15 I think but feel terrible. Terrible wheezy chest and painful back. The Dr gave me antibiotics and an inhaler but it's not working. I feel really depressed and upset too. I'm exhausted but I have developed terrible Insomnia and anxiety.. Honestly I am a shell. I am really worried. Dh and the kids seem to be over it now but I'm not getting any better. Has anyone else had this? Thanks.
Auntycorruption · 07/12/2021 04:03
I think it's only a fever which keeps you in isolation for over the 10 days. Other symptoms are deemed ok to be out & about.
Auntycorruption · 07/12/2021 04:06
Here it is
FrenchyQ · 07/12/2021 08:07
Went back into the office yesterday for the first time in 3 weeks, completely wiped me out , so back working from home again today
LadyCatStark · 07/12/2021 11:18
I’m on day 5 and only have a mild cough and no sense of smell or taste. I am very lucky but I’m so bored and fed up. DH and DS are negative so far.
Riomama · 07/12/2021 11:31
@LadyCatStark
@LadyCatStark I’m day five too and it’s really dragging. I just keep thinking I need to get through another day, and hope nothing gets worse, but it’s very hard mentally. I still have taste - sort of- but no smell whatsoever
Palosverdesblue · 07/12/2021 12:46
I feel better today, I slept for the first time in weeks, when I woke up at 5am and realised it was 5am I thought thank the lord for that. Amazing how a bit of sleep helps.
LadyCatStark · 07/12/2021 13:37
@Riomama I was cleaning the bathroom before (and actually enjoyed it, that’s how bored I am!) and squirted a load of bleach over the shower and I couldn’t smell a thing! I occasionally get the odd ghost of a taste but I’m not sure if it’s real or just because I know what it should taste like.
Softpebbles · 07/12/2021 13:47
@Catatemyhomework I am the same. I tested positive on the 18th November. Had a chest X-ray yesterday. My chest is so sore, tight and painful. Coughing isn’t quite as bad as long as I don’t do anything! I’m on antibiotics too.
Riomama · 07/12/2021 15:11
@LadyCatStark wow you have more energy than me! I have done a few things like putting the laundry away, but after every little job I then go and have to sit down- or a lie down!
I keep also stressing that other people have said they got bad in the second half of their isolation so am worried to do too much in case it sets off other issues- I feel so unsure about everything. The anxiety is the worst
LadyCatStark · 07/12/2021 16:42
@Riomama oh no I hope I don’t get worse too! I do feel a bit breathless after an hour long Teams call for work but I think I just talked too much 😂. I know what you mean, I’m usually very disciplined about exercising but even though I feel like I could, I don’t want to go on my cross trainer incase it puts too much strain on my lungs and makes me worse!
Catatemyhomework · 07/12/2021 21:02
@Softpebbles, sorry to hear you're feeling bad too. Hope you feel better soon. It's a rubbish virus! Glad you managed to get a chest xray. I wish I could get one. Still feeling terrible.
sofakingcool · 07/12/2021 21:52

I was exactly the same, couldn't work out if I was imagining the flavour!
I've lost my total sense of smell, got excited this morning as I thought I could smell my perfume, but I think it's just my imagination

@Catatemyhomework
Oh gosh- I’m so sorry you are having such a hard time- and I feel like it’s really lonely during isolation. I know you have finished your ten days, but it feels long when you are trying to get better. Can the doctor help you with the insomnia? Or have you tried taking a nytol to get you through the night? Or night nurse? Not sure if you would want to, but it sometimes helps just to break the habit of not sleeping….
Catatemyhomework · 07/12/2021 22:17
@Riomama, Thank you. I didn't really feel lonely in isolation as I felt so ill I couldn't do anything and didn't feel like getting out of bed. It was weird. I thought I might miss going out but I didn't. Now I'm heading in to week 3 and still don't want to go out. My chest is so painful. I'm going to give it till Thursday and if the antibiotics haven't done anything I will ring the doctors again. Yes the insomnia was awful. I used to suffer badly with it years ago when the children were small but I managed to get over it and have slept pretty well for the past 10 years or so give or take the odd fretful night if I've been anxious about something. This insomnia that I've had since Covid is awful. I literally go to bed and lie there for hours. I go downstairs and try and sleep on the sofa. I end up crying because I feel so tired and anxious and then it's morning and I make a cup of tea at 4am. It's insane. I do actually feel like I'm going insane. I am finding sad things unbelievably unbearable and it's an awful feeling. It's all come on since Covid. I'm going to do some googling and see if it causes problems with sleep and mental health. Anyway, I really hope you feel better soon. Hopefully you will make a quick recovery and have none of this stuff.
Riomama · 07/12/2021 22:20
@Catatemyhomework I have heard recently that insomnia has definitely been a symptom that people are complaining about…I have often had bouts of insomnia too and it is just the worst- everything seems more hopeless in the middle of the night when you are tired. I hope you can get some sleep tonight!!
timestheyarechanging · 07/12/2021 22:24
I'm recovering ok - day 10. Boyfriend is in hospital in icu though. So worried
bloodyhoodedeyes · 07/12/2021 22:33
@timestheyarechanging oh I do hope he's going to be ok, I can't imagine the stress you have right now, sending big hugs xx
PossiblyPertunia · 07/12/2021 22:34
Oh I'm so glad (not sure that's the right word really...) that you are talking about insomnia here as it's been a major symptom for me! That and severe sinus headache have been my worst symptoms by far. Aware still how lucky I am to just have those bad.
Riomama · 07/12/2021 22:35
@timestheyarechanging
@timestheyarechanging I’m so sorry to hear that. Sending you a big virtual hug
timestheyarechanging · 08/12/2021 00:28
Riomama
Thank you - he's being pumped through with antibiotics and steroids.very upset. We lost a friend to Covid in September aged 46, no underlying health conditions so he's very scared x
timestheyarechanging · 08/12/2021 00:31
Bloody hooded eyes
Thank you. It's tough. I can't see him and he's very scared but says he's having great care in the hospital x

@Newbabynewhouse
LFT lines got fainter and fainter during isolation, and tested PCR negative 25 days after first symptoms (required for travel).
Meanwhile I have seamlessly gone from CV symptoms into yet another cold.
sofakingcool · 08/12/2021 08:35
I tested negative on day 8 (was being nosey), now day 14 and still feel spaced out and tired. Yesterday was a turning point for me, I had a few comments at work that I suddenly had a bit more colour in me. Appetite also reappeared too which is nice!
