Anyone else fancy a grouch at having Covid? I’m a few days in, feeling like crap and fed up with the world in general.

Tea and sympathy to anyone in a similar position?

Inacountrygarden · 27/11/2021 15:16

Day 5 for me.
It's felt like a heavy cold, nasty headache, achy limbs, intermittent cough, generally feeling tired and weak. Also slight nausea. Don't feel like eating much and off coffee and wine (unusual for me!). Still taking cold and flu tablets four times a day.
I don't want to speak too soon but I may be feeling slightly better today.
DH also has it, similar symptoms.
Good luck to others!

Newbabynewhouse · 28/11/2021 00:30

Choccyaddict4eva · 28/11/2021 16:56
@Choccyaddict4eva exactly the same has happened to me. Got through Covid. I'm on about day 24 and them boom! Heavy cold, sore throat, feel dreadful!!

My DH now has Covid, he is day 3 and I feel worse than him! I tested again yesterday thinking I can't have caught Covid again?! Negative thankfully.

So I have either caught a cold straight after Covid, or it lingers!
@MrsTumbletap so sorry to hear you’re not feeling well! I’m feeling absolutely rubbish- I definitely think I’ve caught a cold, the worst one I’ve had in a long time! I mean it doesn’t feel like Covid atm…it just feels like a cold. I’m SO fed up of feeling poorly. Had a broken sleep last night. Work again tomorrow, could do with the weekend lasting a few more days!! How are you feeling today? And your husband? I reckon my immune system must be a bit broken right now!

Grapewrath · 28/11/2021 18:21

I’m day 8 and fully recovered. I felt unwell for a day or two with cold like symptoms and then felt fine but with blocked sinuses. Smell and taste have gone, which feels odd.
Fwiw I’m 42 with no health problems and am currently unvaccinated

the80sweregreat · 28/11/2021 19:41

Just feeling so dizzy and now have a weird itchy rash come up on my chest.
The dizziness is hard as can't walk around very well :(

ComeAllYeFaithful · 28/11/2021 21:46

My DD has just tested positive on a lft and I am absolutely petrified reading page one of this. I have health anxiety and the thought of it’s weeping through the house… god no. I am dreading it, I know I’ll catch it as I catch everything.

yoshiblue · 28/11/2021 23:16

Freedom day today, I'm generally feeling well now except for low level headaches and still feeling a bit tired. Back at work tomorrow but WFH and boss is very supportive. He's already told me to do half days if I feel tired and he sent me a large M&S fruit basket through the post last week!

DS has just been confirmed positive so home schooling all this week too Confused

BigRedDuck · 29/11/2021 00:21

Day 6. Feeling much better but have lost taste and smell. Very weird. Hoping it returns soon! DH has tested positive on a PCR despite negatives on LFTs all week. Completely asymptomatic and furious. Oops!

andi62 · 29/11/2021 09:00

Day 29, at least in the dangerous first phase i slept for up to 12 hours a day, back to somewhat crappy insomnia and the post covid exhaustion is mutant.

Picklesbaby · 29/11/2021 09:09

Day 5 or 6 ? Here have lost count .
No taste or smell still but can get up and walk around now . Sweats and breathlessness when I over do things still on 4hr paracetamol
Everyone else in house still negative atm

Chaosandmadness · 29/11/2021 10:38

Day 29 for me and the doctor has just signed me off work for another 4 weeks. I'm so fed up of feeling like this now.

Budapestdreams · 29/11/2021 11:10

I'm 4 weeks in too. I still have hardly any energy. I have to sleep halfway through the day and I just want my life back.
I don't know if my GP would sign me off for 4 weeks, what symptoms are you having @chaosandmadness?

Chaosandmadness · 29/11/2021 11:23

Fatigue, brain fog, dizziness all the time and then when I try to do something more physical (like the school run) I get covid symptoms returning - breathlessness, headache, sore throat, earache, aches and pains in my joints, nosebleeds. They run in a cycle so I don't get everything at once thankfully but its still shit. I had a shower yesterday and washed my hair so today I've woken up with swollen glands in my throat and cold sores up my nose. The doctor was very interested to hear I reacted badly to the vaccines when I had those.
Budapestdreams · 29/11/2021 11:38

@chaosandmadness I'm sorry to hear you're having such awful symptoms. I get a recurrence of symptoms too if I do too much (like pop to the shops).
Having a shower is a huge effort for me too. I feel like I only have certain amount of energy per day and once it's gone, it's gone. I spend most of my day on the sofa or in bed.
My GP told me just to rest. Has your GP suggested anything else that might help?

FrenchyQ · 29/11/2021 11:48

Last day of isolation for me, was feeling relatively normal over the weekend but now today I feel really light headed and my stomach hurts.

ablutiions · 29/11/2021 11:52

Well hello everyone. I hope you are all feeling OK today

After months of being ill I finally managed some light yoga today. Feels like a big step forward and that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Still living in dread of getting the new variant though - anyone else feel the same?

ablutiions · 29/11/2021 11:55

@Budapestdreams @Chaosandmadness I hate to tell you but I have been off work since late July and go back part time this week. The symptoms waxed and waned over that period but kept coming back.

The doctor has been pretty good in signing me off - he can see how ill I've been. Don't be afraid to ask for the month as you are likely to end it. Advice with long covid is to rest as much as you can or it prolongs the liners even more. It's a total shit this covid thing. Angry

No suggestions from the GP other than rest and sleep whenever I need to. He reassured me that I would recover but only when my body is ready to and I can't force it. Like you my energy is in limited supply and my days are spent drifting between the sofa and bed. It's frustrating watching others recover quickly and I'm getting nowhere. I hope you start to feel better soon. I really wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.

Since July??? Oh no you poor thing that sounds awful. I hope it goes ok with going back to work this week. My manager had covid right at the beginning of it all and barely took any time off. She is still suffering with symptoms 18 months later so she is pushing me to take as much time as I need as she knows what it's like. I am extremely lucky to have a supportive manager and workplace.

Umbongoumbongo999 · 29/11/2021 12:50

I'm on day 4 of symptoms here. My dh tested positive last monday on LFT, confirmed by PCR on Tuesday. His symptoms started with shivers and fever overnight . I continued wfh Tuesday to Friday. I work in a hospital and our rules are more restrictive in that we are not allowed to come to work even if we are double jabbed ( which I am) to prevent staff outbreaks.

Good thing too or I would have been spreading it around, no doubt. I developed just a cough on Friday and booked a PCR test. I had a negative PCR on Tuesday and daily negative LFTs right up to Friday but I knew I had it. The PCR came back positive on Saturday night. By this time I had aches and fever. My eyes are really sore and my whole face hurts like sinus pain.

I have two teen dds at home. One had already had asymptomatic covid, the other continues to be lft negative and both are going to school.

Counting my blessings, 19yo ds is at uni so I have moved into his room, initially to isolate from my dh so he could quarantine in our room with the en suite. I could probably move back as no need for us to be apart, but it's just easier with both of us coughing/napping/sweating at different times. I knew this was coming so had time to get a food order delivered from Ocado on Friday, so have plenty of food in. I've read two books already in between naps. I was able to look after dh for the first four days of his illness, and make sure he was medicated and eating well. Hopefully this will speed his recovery.

Worst bits: I didn't know I would feel as bad as this, being double vaccinated. I feel pressure to get better and get back to work. The anosmia is disconcerting. I'm totally off my food as eating has lost all meaning for me. I'm suspicious that I could be eating/drinking something that is 'off'.

It's been really insightful reading all of the different experiences on this thread.

Hope those of you who are currently suffering feel better soon.

Positive LFT this morning, awaiting my PCR result. It started yesterday but was hoping it was Saturday night procescco hangover. Feel drained with a pounding headache. 2 people at work have also tested positive this weekend. 3DC's 13 ,15 and 17, just debating if I should tell them to make their own tea's 🤣
