Anyone else fancy a grouch at having Covid? I’m a few days in, feeling like crap and fed up with the world in general.

Tea and sympathy to anyone in a similar position?

I popped out earlier to look at the Christmas lights, my isolation finishes at 23:59. Basically I got in the car, drove all of two miles and then collapsed on the sofa with my inhalers, grim.

I'm sure that dh will catch this and I'm dreading it as he is the worst patient known to man.
He has a bit of ' runny nose ' and that's how I started on Sunday. He is fighting it off , which is what I tried to do as well .. it's not that easy to do though.

Freedom day here!

Onceuponatimethen · 25/11/2021 08:22

Congratulations @flowerarrangement must be a great feeling!

Onceuponatimethen · 25/11/2021 08:24

On day 7 here and today my eyes suddenly look red and are gritty feeling. Has anyone else had this? Looks and feels like an eye infection but not sure how I could have caught anything when I’ve been away from people since Friday

Onceuponatimethen · 25/11/2021 08:46

Just found an article in Scientific American which says that one in ten of all people with covid get eye symptoms

MondayYogurt · 25/11/2021 08:56

Yes conjunctivitis for all of us. Day 31 and still suffering, gumming up, red eyes.
My throat also seems to close down/tighten painfully each evening, wearing off throughout the day. Hurts to swallow.
Phlegmy at night. Dragging on.

Onceuponatimethen · 25/11/2021 09:03

It’s just unbelievably long - I just thought I would start to get better. Last night I walked around my room putting old cups by the door. Was just a few minutes and then I felt breathless so used pulse oximeter and my pulse was 110.

Onceuponatimethen · 25/11/2021 09:04

@MondayYogurt should have said I’m really sorry you don’t feel well

FrenchyQ · 25/11/2021 09:31

Day 5 for me and I seem to be feeling worse as the days go on. Might be as I've had to continue running the house and working while my husband puts his feet up as he feels worse (he's on day 4).

flowerarrangement · 25/11/2021 09:55

I didn't have sore eyes (although they did pound along with my head for the first week).

I feel rough today but I am going to embrace freedom and pop to the supermarket.

Flowers to all the sufferers.

andi62 · 25/11/2021 10:20

Day 25, have more regular ocular migraines, than pre covid, red eyes, sore. At least I can read books again, I couldn't for the first 3 weeks. Rampant tiredness, roughly one better day, in every seven.

Does anyone have any tips on how to keep young children entertained while isolating ? I barely have energy to move

Also why are my ears hurting so much 😭

Onceuponatimethen · 25/11/2021 13:20

@Picklesbaby how old? I always got them on CBeebies all day

Picklesbaby · 25/11/2021 13:31

@MissHavershamReturns 17months & 5.
5yr old will be happy enough with screen time ,Youngest not so much sadly

Onceuponatimethen · 25/11/2021 13:35

Ah ok that is a really tough age when you are ill yourself. I remember it well.

Mine used to like those kiddie music cds - maybe playing some toddler music on YouTube.

Some nice food treats if you have any in

Get out a toy they haven’t played with for a while

When is the next nap due?

Struggling here too, two doing school work, two the same age as yours. At least all getting it over with in one fell swoop. Am worried about long covid though
Picklesbaby · 25/11/2021 15:19

@MissHavershamReturns 1 nap 12.30-1.30 if I’m lucky . Alexa is now favourite today & picnic lunch is on the cards tomorrow ,thanks for the suggestion

@Happydaysandhappysmiles oh my that sounds tough ! Look after yourself . mine havnt even got it yet ! Both of their pcr were negative, I just have none else to take them to nursery/school 😔 the thought of weeks of this when they catch it from me is killing me.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 25/11/2021 15:59

Day....18.
Last night I told myself I would be phoning the doctors this a.m. as I spent another evening struggling with the coughing and feeling out of breath. I wondered if I needed something for my asthma maybe.

This morning I can breathe and have barely coughed all day. I have on purpose barely moved and really rested as I want to recover as quickly as I can. And it will be full on again when I go back to work.

I am wondering whether the symptoms will rear their head again this pm but I hope that is the last of it now.

flowerarrangement · 25/11/2021 16:01

I went out earlier, met a friend for coffee, I was clammy, sweaty and faint, mopping my brow and top lip within five minutes of leaving the car.

I am completely done in.

the80sweregreat · 27/11/2021 09:48

The tops of my legs and bum just ache so much now :(
After nearly six days I still feel awful as well
Can't eat anything without feeling sick
It seems to be getting worse rather than better

Chaosandmadness · 27/11/2021 10:42

Day 27 and the first day of no headache....so far! Just done a little bit of cleaning and my head is still OK so keeping my fingers crossed. Could do with a nap now though.

MrsTumbletap · 27/11/2021 11:25

@Choccyaddict4eva exactly the same has happened to me. Got through Covid. I'm on about day 24 and them boom! Heavy cold, sore throat, feel dreadful!!

My DH now has Covid, he is day 3 and I feel worse than him! I tested again yesterday thinking I can't have caught Covid again?! Negative thankfully.

So I have either caught a cold straight after Covid, or it lingers!

Onceuponatimethen · 27/11/2021 13:42

Today is day 9 for me. I felt a lot better yesterday and had a shower but today I’m headachey and tired again. Feel a bit annoyed

BigRedDuck · 27/11/2021 14:01

Day 4 here.
The last 48 hours have been the most terrifying of my life.
I can breathe today but now struggling with nausea, diarrhoea, complete exhaustion. I walked 20 metres with the dog and have had to lay down since, that was about an hour ago. DCs caught it too and were mildly under the weather with it but both back to normal today.
Double vaccinated and extremely grateful, I think I would have been in hospital without them.
DH is still fine and testing negative so keeping fingers crossed.
