Please no not schools. Children have lost too much education and social development already and are suffering for it. Parents should be allowed the option of having 12+s vaccinated so that their education can normalise.

IcedPurple · 06/09/2021 22:06

@HalfShrunkMoreToGo

According to the front pages of a couple of the papers tomorrow there will be a firebreak in October

www.tomorrowspapers.co.uk/i-front-page-2021-09-07/

This again?

It's contingency plans. Nothing more than that. It would be very bad if such plans weren't in place but that doesn't mean it's going to happen. The usual media drama.

TheKeatingFive · 06/09/2021 22:06

I'm scheduled to start the November 19th thread think you've been pencilled in for the one after that.

Cool, I’ll get it in the diary

Won’t they put it over October half term?
ReginaaPhalange · 06/09/2021 22:07

I wouldn't be surprised if we are here in Scotland....

HungryHippo11 · 06/09/2021 22:07

Not in my house. We've been vaccinated and the kids have all had covid. Nobody will be keeping me from my family this time.

mayblossominapril · 06/09/2021 22:07

I read something can’t remember where that boris would allow 1000 deaths a week (May have been a day) before another lockdown.

Remmy123 · 06/09/2021 22:08

No

Fubitch · 06/09/2021 22:08

@SonnetForSpring ahh ok.

PicsInRed · 06/09/2021 22:09

It’s not the children going into hospital. There are masses adults still not vaccinated at this point.

Right, but its kids without education, mothers (realistically) who will lose their jobs and businesses and families who will be financially ruined. Our children need a functioning society in order to live the 1st world life we expect for them.

Unvaccinated adults will be covered through vaccine passports.

Explosivefarts · 06/09/2021 22:10

I mean obviously I can’t go to hospitality if it’s closed . But I will not be staying away from family again .

PileOfBooks · 06/09/2021 22:10

Oooh Id vote for extended halfterm holiday personally.... (I realise that wont work for lots of others .)

Isn’t half term different all over the country? Ours break up on the 9th October
AlecTrevelyan006 · 06/09/2021 22:12

I think it’s unlikely

HoppingHamster · 06/09/2021 22:14

I think yes because:

  • numbers are obviously sky rocketing
  • everyone is acting as if it’s over and they’re bored of it all now
  • it’s not just about the numbers IN hospital it’s the extra delays these cases add to already catastrophic waiting lists which have to be cleared. The only way to do that is keep Covid low in every way and keep people from having to use medical services in first place
  • there are also many unknowns around long Covid

I think no because

  • politically it’s too damaging
  • the vaccines really are doing a good job
  • restarting furlough would be a huge step backwards… people need to be working, at home or otherwise, but no more furlough
clarkkentsglasses · 06/09/2021 22:15

No - otherwise it proves the vaccine doesn't work

PileOfBooks · 06/09/2021 22:15

Wow yes thats different to here. Ours is last week in October. I thought some areas were week before - and some areas have 2 weeks. Id like 2 weeks Grin

That isnt quite what it says though

it says it COULD be IF cases threaten to overwhelm

Which has always been the case surely?

NannyAndJohn · 06/09/2021 22:17

It's looking very likely that we will need another Lockdown.

Whether our government actually does the right thing is another story.

Though it is reassuring that they appear to be considering a half-term circuit breaker.

AledsiPad · 06/09/2021 22:18

They can fuck off.

Marmelace · 06/09/2021 22:19

Oh ffs, please no, only just started going out again. I know if it happens it happens, not sure my head will survive it again. I'm being dramatic now, hearts pounding and teary at the thought. Counting slowly to 100.

No thanks.

JBlow · 06/09/2021 22:25

The Government are planning a firebreaker in October by extending the half term by one week.

Lockdown last resort
