In November time?

OP posts:

@NannyAndJohn

I do have to say I got the heebie jeebies watching the Proms and the tennis tonight.

No SD, hardly any masks.

We all saw what happened with the Euros.

Why, because people were enjoying themselves?

The tennis is in the US so I'm not sure why you've got the 'heebie jeebies' about that, it's not going to affect you

NannyAndJohn · 11/09/2021 23:02

I know it's in the US.

Where Delta is raging.

And travel to the UK is allowed.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 11/09/2021 23:05

As travel is allowed to and from other countries where delta is 'raging' I can't get too wound up about a tennis match.

Good match though!

notgotthehelp · 11/09/2021 23:05

@NannyAndJohn but we already have Delta?

Moonface123 · 11/09/2021 23:16

If planet earth was to spontaneously combust, we wouldn't be missed.
The universe would just carry on without us.

Quartz2208 · 11/09/2021 23:55

It seems masks and wfh are the measures being looked as to control - which makes sense and ones which I for one can live with.

Plus booster shots and 12-15 year olds.

And the removal of pre departure on holiday tests - so foreign travel will become more accessible if double jabbed

@NannyAndJohn having been to the theatre a few times recently what you saw is fairly normal now and has been for I would say a month or so.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 11/09/2021 23:58

I can live with masks but not permanent WFH. I have no idea what I'll do if that comes back but I may end up handing in my notice, I can't do it again.

I've booked a holiday to Corfu next year so I like the idea of removing the testing, one less thing to worry about!

Droite · 12/09/2021 01:29

Why, because people were enjoying themselves?

The reasoning was given in literally the next line, @PinkSparklyPussyCat. A little matter of a lot of people crowded together with very few masks.

Willyoujustbequiet · 12/09/2021 01:35

Yes I think there will be.

The Government only has itself to blame. Opened up too quickly and got rid of masks and distancing. Any idiot could see where this was going.

Gothichouse40 · 12/09/2021 01:56

Well, considering up here they have allowed various football matches and thousands to attend TRNSMT Festival, there better bloody not be. I for one won't be penalised again. I won't be giving up Christmas either. If things are really that bad, why were football and festivals allowed?

Wellbythebloodyhell · 12/09/2021 04:13

If things are really that bad, why were football and festivals allowed?

Because they generate money into the economy

Some of the scenes from TRNSMT cases are going to be even crazier soon
Primrosejoy · 12/09/2021 07:14

I'm so pissed off the government ended all restrictions before the summer and let all these massive events happen. There's no reasons why masks couldn't face remained at least. Now the kids have gone back to school with already massive levels of covid.

Same here. I am not WFH again. It's hell

I love this, all the "I won't" , " they can't make me" and "I've had enough". How are people planning not to WFH if the goverment makes it law again ? We are 18 months in none of us gets to decide none of us can control the spread and restrictions may be necessary again.

Rhinothunder · 12/09/2021 07:50

Same here. WFH is awful. So glad to be back in office.

TheKeatingFive · 12/09/2021 07:52

Change job I presume.

My workplace didn’t enforce wfh after the first few months. There were plenty of grey areas in the guidance that let them do that.

traumatisednoodle · 12/09/2021 07:57

Yes there has been lots of hybrid working. However if the hospitals are full and the goverment issues a stay at home notice then unless you work in job that can't be done from home you won't have a lot of choice. Ditto if schools close again.

rookiemere · 12/09/2021 08:09

I'm in Scotland where they're still promoting WFH. I started going into the office one day per week in June - you can go in if you say it's for health reasons- but I've stopped for now because the numbers are so high.

People think wfh is some cushty little number and aren't we lucky being able to do it. In reality I've found it soul destroying and it's removed any enjoyment of my job that I used to find quite fulfilling.

I appreciate though it's an easy win for reducing contact numbers, I just wish people weren't so blase about it.

TheKeatingFive · 12/09/2021 08:22

Well I’m pretty confident my workplace won’t shut again, regardless. Like I say, plenty of technical ‘outs’ in the guidance.

Anyway, I certainly know people who would quit their jobs and apply for essential work out of home job rather than go back to wfh.

User4378645 · 12/09/2021 08:30

I quit my job last year when it was wfh, fortunately I was able to retire and was doing the job because I enjoyed it and enjoyed going out to work, no joy in sitting in the spare bedroom for evermore so I handed my notice in

Justrealised · 12/09/2021 08:34

Sky news are reporting that parts of the coronavirus act are being repealed. The parts that relate to shutting the economy, shutting schools and restrictions on gatherings and events. Surely this is good news and means further lockdowns and school closures aren’t on the radar.

Good if so

Quite easily. I will be going into the office.
