Dd has a positive LFT. I stupidly did the test close to food, remember reading something on here about certain foods causing a strong positive , is that true and if so how long do I need to leave it before testing again ? Assume we all need to test now ?
She has done it for school , DH and I have never needed to test, hence me not knowing the drill.

I'm in work and trying to keep my distance. Just got news of friends who have recently recovered from covid. Husband tested positive and the wife was negative until exactly a week later.

🙄

SirVixofVixHall · 02/09/2021 19:10

A week, oh dear. I thought maybe it could be a while, Dd still feels fine, I hope the results come back tomorrow.

@SirVixofVixHall

She is still feeling fine. I don’t know the timescale for when symptoms might appear, is it fairly fast ? Eg if she is positive as is most likely, but stays asymptomatic for a couple of days , is she unlikely to get ill ? How long might it be before the rest of us show symptoms?
Ive heard 48hrs for the delta. Although don't take that as gospel. I do think it is faster than other variants.

Our dc knew they caught it on a weekend and was doing LFT everyday. All neg...booked a pcr for the Friday ( so five days of neg lft) and the pcr came back pos on the 6th day

SirVixofVixHall · 02/09/2021 19:30

Ok, that is helpful re a rough timescale because of our personal circs.
Dd possibly caught it on Saturday or Sunday, so three or four days for her if she is positive, which I am assuming she will be. So the rest of us could be any time up to next Tuesday, hopefully not later than that.
She would have been contagious from around Tuesday I assume ?

I've known four people in the past few weeks test positive. All had symptoms about3 days after infection. All of them had an upset stomach right at the start of symptoms before the sore throat/cold

howtodealwithit · 02/09/2021 22:04

@EmmaGrundyForPM

My.manager had 2 positive LFTs but her PCR was negative.

Fingers crossed you get the PCR result quickly

My friend has just had this too, first time I'd known someone to have it that way round
SirVixofVixHall · 03/09/2021 00:17

Well we will hopefully know for sure in the morning. She is still bouncingly fine. Rest of us all ok so far, we all did another LFT each and are still negative.

BlackAlys · 03/09/2021 06:22

Hopefully your results will appear this morning @SirVixofVixHall

FridayKiss · 03/09/2021 08:32

Is your Dd testing negative on LFT now?

SirVixofVixHall · 03/09/2021 10:25

Results back, she is positive.
The rest of us getting PCR tests this morning. She still has no symptoms, she is totally normal, so it does show the value of doing the LFTs twice a week.
I suppose the rest of might not show positive for a few days anyway ? Will we need to do another PCR in a couple of days if these are negative ?

Oh dear hope she will be okay.

Raindancer411 · 03/09/2021 12:03

Fingers crossed she will carry on with no symptoms. Friends daughter had it and none of them got it, so fingers crossed for you all. Do you know where she may have picked it up?

whynotwhatknot · 03/09/2021 12:56

oh thats a shame op but at least shes not ill with it

i think they say yo0u should do a pcr if yo0u live with them but its not mandatory

SirVixofVixHall · 03/09/2021 13:54

We will get our PCR results in the morning. I don’t feel ill but I am a bit breathless . DH and Dd both fine, DH tired but he didn’t get much sleep last night.
My gut feeling is that I will be positive, and it would be best for us if we are all positive now rather than it being staggered over weeks.
Don’t know for sure where she caught it. She did a group activity last weekend and subsequently a couple of the other kids tested positive so that is the most likely scenario, but we also have a lot of cases locally and people out and about without masks but with covid infected family at home, ( which is within the rules but seems mad to me). So any of us could have picked it up locally .
If it wasn’t for the important thing , I would be more sanguine about it, as I think she would almost certainly have caught it in school this term.
Although I am also worrying about getting really ill as I know a few other double vaxxed people who have been pretty rough with it, one hospitalised.
How quickly do you get ill once you have it ? I don’t have a temperature or anything, still have taste and smell, just this tight chest.

Right if you use neat orange juice it only slightly turns into a second line

Covid straight away turns into a positive line.

Are you double vaccinated? If so you don’t need to isolate if other people test positive.
Kitchendrama1 · 03/09/2021 15:12

^uniess you test positive.

SirVixofVixHall · 03/09/2021 15:59

Yes we are all vaccinated apart from dd2, the one who is positive. Dd1 is 16 so has only had one dose as that is all they are giving her age group.
We are staying home as we don’t want to risk passing it on to anyone.

OP posts:
SirVixofVixHall · 03/09/2021 16:01

So are you no longer infectious after ten days ? Eg if I am positive will I be able to be with someone in two weeks time ?

Government will still let you and the under 18 out (who doesn’t have covid) because of their age and you being double vaccinated.

Stupid rule but if you aren’t able to work from home etc it’s worthwhile for finances.

After symptoms started or you got the test
Sunshinesandice · 03/09/2021 16:08

Hope you’re ok OP!

SirVixofVixHall · 03/09/2021 16:16

Test was this morning, i do have a tight chest but sometimes get that anyway as I get wheezy easily. So both coinciding. So ten days from today I won’t be contagious ?
What happens if I am positive but DH or DD lag behind me, would i be able to meet someone after my ten days were up, or could I still pass it on somehow due to being around positive people at home ?

Have you done a lateral flow?

You get a PCR test and unless it’s positive you don’t isolate.
