Dd has a positive LFT. I stupidly did the test close to food, remember reading something on here about certain foods causing a strong positive , is that true and if so how long do I need to leave it before testing again ? Assume we all need to test now ?
She has done it for school , DH and I have never needed to test, hence me not knowing the drill.

After your 10 days you are free to do whatever you want.

It maybe best if you avoid elderly or non vaccinated people for another week but you don’t have too! That said it would be polite to mention it prior to going.

Only if she tests positive on the PCR test.

We are all isolating anyway, even though we don’t have to yet, as I don’t want to risk spreading it about locally.
Results in the morning with luck. I will be surprised if I am not positive but the jury is out on the other two.

If your later flow comes back negative you’ll be fine.
SirVixofVixHall · 03/09/2021 18:27

My lateral flows were negative, but I feel like my PCR will be positive, so I am isolating anyway.

Shwmae @SirVixofVixHall

Track and Tracer asked us to get a PCR test on day 2 (it was negative) and day 8 of DD's positive result so that falls on Monday for me.

Because I'm teaching, I'm taking LFT's every morning to doubly check that I'm ok to work.

DH is on day 6 and has this evening lost his sense of taste. Still pretty weak and looks rather rough.

DD

BlackAlys · 03/09/2021 21:04

Sorry...

DD who has covid is ok - no energy but ok.

SirVixofVixHall · 03/09/2021 21:26

Ie day 6 seems to be the day that taste goes. I really hope that doesn’t happen to me as I have a freezer full of icecream..
I very much hope you escape catching it. It is so weirdly random. I will be very surprised if I am negative, but so far not feeling ill, just strange and a bit breathless.
Dd still normal.

Diolch.

I'll be really, really surprised if I continue to be negative.

This virus is bizarre!

Lifeispassingby · 04/09/2021 07:34

I know of 2 colleagues who have had it in past 2 weeks, 1 caught it from her DH who caught it from his workmate and they both went down within 48hrs of each other so presumably delta variant. The other tested positive 10 days after her DH and due to not having to isolate has then passed it to others at work.

Cuck00soup · 04/09/2021 08:17

Hope you are all feeling OK today.

I just wanted to add that the isolation period is 10 days from other onset of symptoms/positive test OR WHEN SYMPTOMS END. The relevant symptoms being a raised temperature or diarrhoea. Having recently had Covid despite being double vaxxed, my temperature didn’t return to normal until day 17. This was also the day that I finally felt human again.

Speaking to colleagues at work who have also been infected, unfortunately it seems sensible to manage your expectations about when you may be fully recovered. On the other hand, now I am actually better, I do seem to be recovering faster than the people I know who had Covid pre-vaccination in the winter, so it’s not all bad news.

Fingers crossed for the short and kind variety, if your tests are positive.

Cuck00soup · 04/09/2021 08:19

Also, I wanted to add that although I was never short of breath, my first “symptom” was that I found it harder to breathe with a mask on.

BlackAlys · 04/09/2021 09:36

This virus is so strange.
DH's first symptoms was feeling extreme fatigue and loss of energy (could barely walk up a slight hill to his car after watching a football match). His temperature hasn't registered above 37.3 degrees throughout the whole period.

Same with DD - no temperature increases nor cough with her. Fatigue and sore eyes/head.

Frazzled2207 · 04/09/2021 09:50

Oh dear sorry to hear that she’s positive but best news is that nobody is ill
Just proves that you can get it without realising
I honestly think that we’re all going to get it this autumn. Wishing you all the best

Thanks for this. Our test results are not back yet . I feel the same as yesterday, Dh still the same too, dd1 hasn’t got up yet. Dd2 is still fine, she says she has a very slight sore throat but nothing she would normally notice. In that strange limbo waiting for someone to suddenly get a lot more unwell. My unvaccinated friend had the same symptoms that I have now, she didn’t get ill at all, so I am clinging to that and my 85 year old vaccinated friend who was also fine.

WHEN SYMPTOMS START Your isolation period includes the day your symptoms started (or the day your test was taken if you do not have symptoms), and the next 10 full days.

Kitchendrama1 · 04/09/2021 13:34

OR WHEN SYMPTOMS END

You can return to your normal routine and stop self-isolating after 10 full days if your symptoms have gone, or if the only symptoms you have are a cough or anosmia, which can last for several weeks. If you still have a high temperature after 10 days or are otherwise unwell, stay at home and seek medical advice.

AlexaShutUp · 04/09/2021 13:42

Hope you're all OK, OP!

SirVixofVixHall · 04/09/2021 13:53

DH is positive, I was negative as was other dc
I feel definitely rough now though, but my LFT is negative. So I don’t know what to do.

As my boss said the other day when I felt poorly with no CV symptoms "other illnesses are still available".

You could test again in a couple of days. Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery.

Yes, I would think this normally but I have not been anywhere or seen anyone apart from immediate family so I think it must be the dreaded Covid as that is the only thing I have come into contact with. .

@Tryingtryingandtrying

I don't understand how you've managed to avoid any sort of test especially for your older daughter? Are you in England?
I've not had to test. There was a thread on here some time ago. It's not unusual at all.
Raindancer411 · 04/09/2021 18:38

The PCR test would pick it up before symptoms, so if yours was clear, it is possibly something else. Friends PCR was positive and LFT was negative and only went positive when she got symptoms

Tryingtryingandtrying · 04/09/2021 20:26

@lockdownmadnessdotcom I thought everyone was encouraged to do LFTs twice weekly. And obv if anyone in your family has cough or temp. And secondary school kids. Or has it basically been toddlers and teens having to suffer this?
