DD has been wanting her vax for weeks and is feeling impatient! Any healthy 16-17 year olds had any info on booking yet? We've heard nothing since it was announced last week.

We finally got one at a local walk-in clinic today. So pleased!

My local centre has opened to 16-17 year olds too. I'll take ds over the weekend

EndoplasmicReticulum · 13/08/2021 18:34

Son got his today too, local walk in dropped age to 16+.

Marmaladeagain · 14/08/2021 18:29

www.nhs.uk/service-search/find-a-walk-in-coronavirus-covid-19-vaccination-site

type in town and scroll down will show centres open to 16 and over or just 18 and over.

PermanentlyDizzy · 16/08/2021 16:31

Only one 16+ walk in centre within a 20 mile radius of us and even that one is only doing 16+ for a few set hours next Saturday. All the others are still 18+ only. Local CCG and GP group FB pages say wait to be texted and they will start calling them this week. Seems much slower than other areas for some reason.

WhatHaveIFound · 16/08/2021 17:30

Nothing within 15 miles of me and when I phoned the GP they say we have to wait until we get a letter or a test to book. This is despite his doctor trying to book DS one last month (pre announcement) to see if it helps with his long Covid.

To those whose 16-17 year old DCs have had their jabs - any side effects?

Marmaladeagain · 16/08/2021 17:41

no side effects here - just the sore arm - DC us very happy to have had it done.

Eaumyword · 16/08/2021 18:09

DS (16) had his on Friday. No side effects at all other than a sore arm.
He's pleased to be jabbed.

Watsername · 16/08/2021 22:01

Sore arm and a headache for a few hours 24 hours after the jab.

bellsbuss · 16/08/2021 22:10

My daughter received hers today and has an appointment for Wednesday.

EmmaStone · 16/08/2021 23:20

Nothing local for walk-ins for 16-17 year olds yet, but school contacted us today and are doing a clinic next week, so my 16YO has enrolled to attend that. No contact from GP yet either.

SilverGlitterBaubles · 17/08/2021 07:40

Nothing in wall in centres within a 20 mile radius all for over 18

SilverGlitterBaubles · 17/08/2021 07:40

Walk Blush

Coffeeonmytoffee · 17/08/2021 07:49

My DD had it last week. An invite from our GP surgery.

ReallyNeedToPrioritiseMe · 17/08/2021 07:52

My 16 year old did the walk in service 10 days ago. He did wait nearly two hours and almost fainted at the end- but he’s been vaccinated!
Other friends kids have had their appointments through quickly.

No walk in centres for 20 miles here. How poor is that? Angry

smartiecake · 17/08/2021 10:04

We are in the west mids (black country) and I can't get DS 16 an appointment. The walk in centre wont let him attend as they said their system won't let them register 16 year olds and the GP said no they are only doing 17 year olds. He starts FE college in 3 weeks and is keen to have the jab! So bloody annoying

Have you tried the link I put above? I typed in Tamworth as an example (Black Country - wasn't quite sure on exactly what would be good town to put in). It comes up with over 16's at Tamworth available (Baptist Church).

We're home counties but I drove to a London Borough as that was nearest place at the moment.

smartiecake · 17/08/2021 10:34

@Marmaladeagain thank you. Yes it looks like the nearest centres are nearly 20 miles away for us. I guess it could change daily so will keep checking for the next day or two and if our local ones are not updated then we have a trip!

Apparently Primark in Birmingham are accepting anyone over 16 on Sunday and Monday.
Comefromaway · 17/08/2021 13:41

Ds's girlfriend turns 16 this week. They want to go get jabbed together!

Just in case anyone has been trying to get a 16/17 vaccine in the NW/East Midlands, there seem to be quite a few centres showing on the nhs walk-in finder that now show as 16+ but were showing as 18+ a couple of days ago. Just took my DD for hers and it was an incredibly easy process- clearly signposted, no queue (although I understand evenings and weekends are busier), really friendly and all done within a few minutes. It was actually quicker than when I went for mine with an appointment at a local clinic!

FionaJT · 17/08/2021 13:49

My dd had hers on Sat, was invited by a text from the GP last Monday. She said she saw half her year group there, so that bodes well for the autumn.

Lovemusic33 · 17/08/2021 14:20

Nothing here (Dorset), we are away next week so was hoping she would get it done this week but not received a text.
