DD has been wanting her vax for weeks and is feeling impatient! Any healthy 16-17 year olds had any info on booking yet? We've heard nothing since it was announced last week.

@SallyLondon I’ve looked into it a bit more now, and found the JCVI statement, sounds like they’re fully expecting to offer second dose to all 16-17 yr olds with a 12 week gap, but I guess the extra 10-11 weeks between now and then will provide a few million more teens data from the US and others (and the at risk 16-17s in UK already getting both doses)

Walk in last Saturday and this coming Saturday for anyone 16-39 they only have the Pfizer then. For AZ you book at your gp now

woulducouldushouldu · 11/08/2021 12:58

@YumBroadBeans

No success yet. Called 119 and they say she can't book til called. Will try phoning GP tomorrow. If anyone has any ideas for walk-ins in North London who will do it, I would be grateful.
Try central Middlesex hospital. Dd 17 got her second one there last week

If anyone is in the East Midlands, Derby Arena on Pride Park are doing walk ins for 16/17 year olds and it doesn't matter where you live apparently.
I took ds (16) last night.
They did Saturday and Sunday last week, yesterday and are doing it again 8.30-6.30 this Saturday 14th.
We went at 5.40 and it was still quite busy but very well organised. 16/17 year olds can attend alone or with a parent/guardian.

Eaumyword · 11/08/2021 14:28

East Mids (Lincs): we've just been called by the Drs to book an appointment for DS (16) at our vaccination hub.
Poor lady sounded a bit harassed, think she's working through a big list of GP surgery eligible ages to book them into the hub.
Really pleased it's booked for before return to school for 6th form.

Most Nottinghamshire walk in centres are now open for 16 upwards as of today

LCorp · 11/08/2021 19:28

I had mine at sixteen due to CEV family members and being an unpaid carer. One of my friends with asthma had hers after her eighteenth birthday, another two of my friends that are seventeen have been invited for theirs and no underlying health conditions. A few of my friends tried the walk in centre but were turned away due to being under eighteen

If anyone is in Worcestershire then the Artrix in Bromsgrove is doing walk ins for 16+

DentonsFringeArnottsWaistcoat · 11/08/2021 20:02
@DentonsFringeArnottsWaistcoat - where in Kent are you?
Canterbury and coastal area. I’ll try to find the FB post for the address of the walk in….

DentonsFringeArnottsWaistcoat · 11/08/2021 20:09

Walkaround
It was the Queen Vic Herne Bay - advertising they had left over Pfizer at the end of the days they had it and 16+ could come for walk ins. They posted once they’d run out - take up was high. Think the Vauxhall Road Canterbury site did the same but I can’t find the post now. Don’t know if they check you’re from the area though (we’ve all had ours as CEV DH), where are you?

PaddingtonPaddington · 11/08/2021 20:45

I’ve just been scouring local Facebook groups where I know there are walk in Pfizer clinics in our county and have come across a post saying they are doing 16+ (despite the nhs page saying 18 plus) so going to take DD (17) tomorrow and see if she can get one

dementedpixie · 11/08/2021 20:48

I'm in Scotland and 16-17 year old were invited to register for a vaccine. Dd(17) has had an appointment sent through and its on Saturday

Please let us know how you get on? Currently all the walk in clinics in my city are stating 18+ and DS is desperate to have his.

Sandown Park Racecourse in Esher, Surrey is a walk that is doing 16-17 year olds if that helps anyone.

haliborange0verdose · 12/08/2021 13:13

I was wondering how my 17 year old will be contacted for his vaccination, given that I don't think the surgery have his mobile number. Will they send a letter do you think? He wants it as soon as poss, as he's mildly asthmatic (didn't qualify for 16-64 CV category as not severe enough asthma).

StiggyZardust · 12/08/2021 13:20

Sandown Park is open from 8am to 7pm every day for 16 -17 year olds, drop ins. They're doing loads every day.

cherin · 12/08/2021 13:28

Haringey council in north London is now advertising that they accept 16+ at two of their walk-in clinics
www.haringey.gov.uk/news-and-events/coronavirus-covid-19-haringey-together/health-advice/vaccines-and-vaccinations#clinics

EndoplasmicReticulum · 12/08/2021 14:09

Our GP surgery don't have sons number either, they contacted via me (but only to say please don't phone us trying to get a vaccine!)

PaddingtonPaddington · 12/08/2021 15:38

@WhatHaveIFound DD got her vaccination at the 18+ walk in clinic today - hooray. If she had been 17 years and 9 months she would have booked in for the second dose but as she’s under this it’s just the one dose for now.

frankienotbenny · 12/08/2021 15:42

In our area (town in Yorkshire) 16 -17 year olds can get a vaccine at a drop in clinic.

blahblahblah321 · 12/08/2021 16:01

Online booking is now updated saying 17yrs 9 months + eligible. Annoyingly it's not accepting DS even though he falls into that bracket

OxanaVorontsova · 12/08/2021 16:09

Both my 17yos done at walk-ins this week, Co Durham. Facebook local NHS pages have info about which are vaccinating 16+

EndoplasmicReticulum · 12/08/2021 17:01

Woo! Facebook stalking paid off he can go to walk in tomorrow.

Redcrayons · 12/08/2021 17:06

Mine was doing it by text, but I never got one even though I called to update the number in January. You don’t need to wait, either book in on the NHS website or if he can’t do that then find a drop in and take him.
Watsername · 13/08/2021 16:57

There are walk-ins just announced at 2 vaccination centres near me- DH is taking DS right now!
