Any 16-17 year olds actually had an invite yet?

DD has been wanting her vax for weeks and is feeling impatient! Any healthy 16-17 year olds had any info on booking yet? We've heard nothing since it was announced last week.

I am in London , so I went to one of the walk in centres with DS. Didn't need an invite.

OrangeBananaFish · 08/08/2021 21:11

Tried to book for DS on the off chance that they were doing bookings without telling everyone, like they did with every other group previously. Haven't been able to book him in, but there was a pop up bus in our town centre for anyone over 16 to get jabbed this weekend. I think bookings are going and its going to be walk ins from now on.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 08/08/2021 21:14

Nope. NHS website won't let him book. GP has sent text saying "wait, don't ring us". Local walk-in still over 18s only.

RoseDog · 08/08/2021 21:19

Our walk ins and pop ups have been open to 16 and 17 year olds since yesterday, also they can register online, we are in scotland.

lurker101 · 08/08/2021 21:21

NI walk ins opened on Friday, no appointment required just walk in with any available ID (birth certificate/bus pass/employee is/passport) but they said they’re flexible if people have no ID too,

Muchtoomuchtodo · 08/08/2021 21:22

My colleague has 17 year old twins.

One had their first dose yesterday and the other today

We’re in Wales

HazyDaisy123456 · 08/08/2021 21:22

Yes ,our GP surgery were quick off the mark and both our 16 year old and 17 year old had theirs at the surgery on Friday.

Apparently they can attend walk in’s without an appointment at 16 and 17.

Neverrains · 08/08/2021 21:24

Our smallish village has had a clinic for 16-17 year olds this weekend. Invite and walk ins.

Travielkapelka · 08/08/2021 21:28

Pretty much all the 16 year olds I know were done weeks ago at walk in places

Lemons1571 · 08/08/2021 21:40

No chance around here. Have searched for walk in places, and the nearest is 32 miles away and there is no public transport route to get there. Just have to wait for someone to set something up I guess. Did you need ID?

Darbs76 · 08/08/2021 22:00

No we having heard yet. Happy to wait until called as we are recovering from Covid a few weeks ago. He will still have the vaccine though. His choice, but he know we are vaccinated and pro vaccine. He is thinking about getting into football stadiums etc!

StephanieJ · 08/08/2021 22:03

I'm not sure where you're based but I'm based South Yorkshire and we have a lot of 'open days' for vacs that for anyone 16 or over, these are normally advertised on fb through docs/ Nhs for the town so maybe worth looking that up

wintertravel1980 · 08/08/2021 22:25

Many walk-in clinics in London are vaccinating 16-17 year olds. It is worth checking the NHS website to confirm whether your local clinic is doing it.

As an example, here is South East London:

Howshouldibehave · 08/08/2021 22:29

No invites but Dc and all of their mates have been into the local Walk-ins and been done over the last few days.

Bagelsandbrie · 08/08/2021 22:30

My 17 year old dd had her invite via post this week and went and had her jab at a walk in vaccine centre - she is 18 next week.

ChilliChaos · 08/08/2021 22:31

Dd got her letter last week for a jab this Wednesday. She’s 17 (18 in October)
We’re in Wales

Angrymum22 · 08/08/2021 22:41

Yes our surgery has been offering them since June. DS has just been invited for second vaccination so will be fully vaccinated ready for return to 6th form. He was happy to have the vaccine and despite having a number of very close contacts over the last few weeks (covid has spread like wildfire through his social group) he has not had symptoms or tested positive. He does have a particularly robust immune system. Since starting school he has had probably 5 days off sick.
He did voluntarily self isolate but it wasn’t difficult since he spends most of the time in his room.

Lucia574 · 08/08/2021 22:42

Text from GP telling us which walk ins we could go to.

flotsomandjetsome · 08/08/2021 22:44

DD16 has one friend who's had an invite a couple of days ago, but DD and a lot of her friends went to a drop in centre today and got theirs.

The drop on centres seem to be a bit word of mouth, this centre had excess vaccines so the word went out they'd do 16/17 year olds without an appointment.

YumBroadBeans · 08/08/2021 22:57

In north London so looks like we need to try going to our local centre and asking, though it still says 18+ on their website. You'd think the GP would send out a text or something, to save a million people clogging up their phone lines with the same question!

Nope - Bucks

flubbagump · 08/08/2021 23:06

Mine were done a while ago via gp. Both double jabbed now.

MerchSwyddEfrog · 08/08/2021 23:43

Not heard anything yet for my 16 year old. We are in Wales.

54321nought · 08/08/2021 23:44

No, many over 20 still waiting here

DowntonCrabby · 08/08/2021 23:47

16/17 year olds can attend drop in here in Scotland from this coming Tuesday.
