FFS Been pinged & were due to go on holiday tomorrow

Well that's it then. We have to cancel our holiday. This year feels like I have been cursed. I've had two eye operations to stop me going blind, and now this.

DH & I have been doubly vaccinated but the DC are too young.

I completely understand that vital care for other operations have been reduced due to Covid and its heartbreaking, which is why if you have been pinged you need to do the right thing, for everyone x

Thank you so much, I really appreciate your message. He is currently on oxygen, on a covid drip and antibiotics plus on medication for a fungal infection in his mouth due to Covid. It is a living nightmare x

Well she obviously has, otherwise she wouldn't have been pinged. Can she categorically state that she hasn't left her house her house in the last 10 days? I very much doubt it! This is the problem. People just don't care anymore. Shame on all of you that are not doing the right thing.

I was pinged and absolutely hadn’t been out of the house, it could have been a neighbour or someone just walking past my house.

Regardless, you still do the right thing? Why are people not getting this!!

If you havent been out of your house for 10 days so you can categorically say you could not have been pinged, what is your issue with staying indoors for another 10 days???

Just delete the app and go. Like others, I never trusted it to work properly and never downloaded it in the first place. The latest research confirms that those who are double vaccinated are most unlikely to catch covid19 or pass it on (as carriers). DELETE IT AND GO! If you didn't live in the UK, you wouldn't have your life blighted by this government's handling of the pandemic, Brexit, and everything else which they have mangled. We are the laughing stock of the whole world. Go ahead and enjoy 😉!!!!!!

I'm a nurse and have been told if we are pinged and it's not from a close friend or family member we can still work. So if you don't know where its come from you probably checked into somewhere where someone tested positive but it doesn't mean you were anywhere near!! Do a LFD and if they are negative I'd say you are safe and OK. Obviously up to you but that's advice we are given as health care professionals

@fayebelle I’m sorry to tell you this, but the reason they’ve encouraged HCPs to turn off the contact tracing on the app is simply because the level of exposure at work & subsequent need for isolation was crippling rotas. It is, rather bizarrely, a measure to “protect” the NHS. I know at one point people were told to stay isolated at home, but come to work (on the wards) after being advised to isolate.
Moreover, how you’d know that your exposure was a close friend or family member, rather than say someone you’d been out clubbing & on the dance floor next to… you wouldn’t. (I’m not doubting what you’ve been told, btw - sometimes the NHS internal staff advice is very odd).

Doing the "right thing" isn't slavishly following the alerts from a discredited app to the extent that you ruin your family holiday!

Given that more than a quarter of the country has probably caught Covid over the past 18 months, the majority have now been vaccinated, and society is open again without the NHS being overwhelmed, it's totally crazy to continue with the mindset that stopping Covid transmission is so critically essential that we expect people to forego a holiday simply because they might possibly have been in the proximity of someone with Covid.

By testing every day, the OP is far "safer" than someone who never downloaded the app and therefore has no idea.

I have the app, which I have used to check in since the option became available, but I afjusted the settings fron the start so it won't ping.

Delete it forget about it, there is no need for all this now, it's only the gov scaremongering what's making people paranoid and teriffied. If you don't do it for flu don't do it for covid they are the same now the vunerable are vaccinated .. go and enjoy yourself .

You do know that just having the vaccine doesn't mean it worked? I have had two vaccines and blood tests show it hasn't worked on me. I'm not saying the world should stop for people such as I - but I am saying stop spreading misinformation! Educate yourself

Can you really get blood tests that tell you if you're vaccines have worked? I mean I'm not a medical professional obviously, but I did not know this was a thing!? 🤔.... also, the poster (musical frog) isn't spreading misinformation in terms of 'all the vulnerable people will be ok now as they are vaccinated' she simply states that they have been vaccinated... whether those vaccines work or not is nobody's fault so we have to carry on with our lives.... whether ALL of the vulnerable people have actually been vaccinated now though or not, is a different story.. (my mum is 70 and vulnerable but refuses the jab) she doesn't go anywhere to spread it, but if she picks it up from my dad then that's down to her

@emmadenning, some people may be doing the right thing without all this , you just don't know about it , there is a natural everyday item antiviral out there fully researched to show it stops replication of the virus, stops it attaching, if you're having it before you contract covid which you can as its something you can and some probably do have everyday, just got to have the right quantity to work. it doesn't have time to spread in your body so you don't become infectious, if people were told about it and were having it in the right quantity everyday , it would help stop getting symptoms with it. just because the GOV don't tell you about something doesn't mean its not out there and doesn't work. No money in it for them if people found out , so they won't tell you and most people won't research anything they just leave it to the GOV to tell them what to do. It all out there to research yourself, EGCG and Covid, zinc is also good too to go with it ( in right amount ) i came across it just over a year ago being using it since, 3 times a day strong good quality one (not had symptoms of Covid since) there is quite a few sites about it, as you won't believe me , if on medication though it as to be discussed with a doctor first and having too much can be bad too long as you have the right amount its fine, and really nothing to lose trying it. especially for anyone who doesn't want the vaccine.

Sorry but you’re all very disappointing. Op was pinged. If I caught covid off someone who had been told to isolate but chose not to because it interfered with their holiday plans I’d be pretty pissed off. Cancel the holiday. A lot of people who are vulnerable or immunosuppressed can’t have the vaccine. It’s up to us to be responsible. Stay home and get tested.

@PrincessAnnaOfArundale if you think like that where does it end , will always be someone who can't be vaccinated , how do they cope with flu/ pneumonia around, can't go on like this forever, its always going to be here and always going to be deaths and the vaccine doesn't stop you getting it just stops you being severe. No ones like this for flu as they didn't have the fear instilled in them , if you can look at one of my other posts , explains something people can do. if not just research Covid and EGCG plenty of it around. Where does it all stop. If i were vulnerable and couldn't have a vaccine i wouldn't and I don't expect people to isolate , vaccinate, lose jobs, ruin economy etc for me , i'd do what i can research things i could try and have or do to help myself and let others get on with their life and definitely would not listen to the GOV or so called Scientists SAGE.
