So the Boardmasters thing is obviously there in the SW? But how does that work ? Not all those kids are from the SW? Do the cases get registered there?

@boys3

45-49s sharp uplift in South West
Wee i would have expected teenagers and young adults be higher in South west. That age group would have been offered vaccine from late June as took ages to do 40s to 50s here. Me and husband in 40s and only had 2nd 3 weeks ago with 12 week gap. So presumably the vaccines not worn off yet. Unless large proportion that age group unvaccinated. Or maybe many that age group mostly az which is less effective against delta.
boys3 · 23/08/2021 22:35

The graph axes vary ; so whilst the SW 45-49s has seen a marked change in trajectory , it stands at under 400 per 100,000 still so is lower than by a long way than the 15-19sat over 2000 per 100,000

I have a very different experience than some: I find that in London a few things are normalized that I have not seen elsewhere: nits, having rodents in houses/flats and having mold. As if these things were inseparable from life.

@TheSunIsStillShining

Do you not have these problems in Hungary, where some people live in substandard accommodation.

Its not a situation I recognise although I won't pretend it doesn't happen.

Overall England context on case rates by age band; tabulated.

These tables contain identical data (7 day rate per 100,000) but one has a single overall conditional format; showing peak cases in the 15-24s and to a slightly lesser extent the 25-34s, and lowest cases in the very youngest and the older age groups.

The second then formats each age group individually. Hence for 20-24s the most recent rate is just about the lowest for the period shown for that age group; although remains one of the highest rates across all age groups. For the aged 90 and over the most recent rate is the highest over the period for that age group, although still one of the lowest across all age groups.

and the percentage movement - with all the caveats that percentages bring - by day for each age band as compared the 26th July starting point.

I don't believe so Piggy

Cases are allocated to the person's area of residence. From 16 November 2020, PHE has updated the way it records the location of people who test positive or negative for COVID-19 in England. It now prioritises addresses given at the point of testing over the details registered on a patient’s record in the NHS Digital Patient Demographic Service. This better reflects the distribution of cases and testing.

The above was brought in to start to resolve some of the anomolies from Uni students testing positive last Autumn. I'm less convinced that Festival site would count as an address. :) Increase also in a number of regions, South East quite pronounced as well. London and East both up, although at much lower levels. Whereas north east and north west flat presumably the teens there did not feel the need to attend some sort of Point Break re-enactment in a far flung and largely infrastructure free extremity

I compare London to Budapest. Of course there are substandard accommodations in Budapest and especially in a few counties on the eastern side. And you truly would not believe your eyes if you saw it. :(

But the amount of times I just got a shrug when asking about mice in affluent parts of London and the comment that it's normal is extremely high. In Budapest even the worst parts don't have mice/rats as it is mandatory 2x a year to get rodent services in to do a sweep and put out traps if needed. And there is a mandatory reporting obligation if you spot rats.
Also 4x a year you have to have your flat/house sprayed against cockroaches and such. If you don't comply you'll get a hefty fine. This was true 10 years ago, I think I've heard my parents mention some changes. It's a historical thing - after ww2 they set out to rebuild and without any rodents. They managed to do so.

Thanks for the tables boys
Piggy it could be Boardmasters - they'd need temp staff (security, catering etc) and you'd expect some to be locals at least. If not, then those staff may have taken it home and seeded it...
