@KeyWorker

Freedom to catch Coronavirus…

I’ll be sticking with a mask indoors in public I think. Shopping, public transport ect. I do think I’ll drop the mask for outdoor stuff tho, school yard I won’t bother now, we’re spread over a biggish yard and also moving around outdoor beer gardens ect, no need now I don’t think.

Or more worrying freedom to spread coronavirus as mask prevent you giving it others. At least we will know who are selfish people easily.
Pissinthepottyplease · 19/07/2021 07:39

@KeyWorker I think your approach is sensible btw. I was referring to people indoors and on public transport

TabbyStar · 19/07/2021 07:39

Don't know. I hate wearing it as it reminds me of sexual assault, and I've been getting panic attacks, which I hadn't had for years, and my mental health in general has also been bad as a result. I also think there's a very small chance of asymptomatic transmission and masks aren't particularly effective anyway. But I don't want people hassling me, so I'll just see how it goes.

People with very low IQs

Theworldisfullofgs · 19/07/2021 07:42

Delphigirl evolution.

kimlo · 19/07/2021 07:42

I will. I live in newcastle, I've never known so many people testing positive. I have to wear one at work all day anyway.

TheVampiresWife · 19/07/2021 07:42

Friendly reminder that some people are unable to wear a mask - please don't immediately assume no mask = thick Smile
Theworldisfullofgs · 19/07/2021 07:43

TheVampiresWife all the more reason for others to do their bit.

Getyourarseofffthequattro · 19/07/2021 07:44

@Silvercatowner

This thread is a good demonstration of why the government's plan to rely on people's common sense and community spirit isn't going to work.
Community spirit? You must be joking.

That went out with the first lockdown.

There's none left. Those who've been left peniless because of lockdown weren't cared about by the mask living work from homers or the vulnerable, it anyone who was happy in lockdown so why would they expect those people to care about them?

It's been s two tier society the whole way through and that won't change for some time.

Whiskycav · 19/07/2021 07:44

@TheVampiresWife that might not have been aimed at people wearing them.

You can never tell as the extremists on both sides use the same phrases Grin

hellcatspangle · 19/07/2021 07:45

Depends where I'm going. If I was going on public transport I would, to pop in a shop and back out quickly, probably not.

Good point Grin

LST · 19/07/2021 07:46

I don't really go anywhere anyway and don't need to use a train so mine won't be used unless specifically required.

MyGardenSanctuary · 19/07/2021 07:47

Masks are nothing more than a psychological comfort blanket. An advisor to SAGE said the same over the weekend. The masks the public wear are totally ineffective.

Getyourarseofffthequattro · 19/07/2021 07:47

And this thread is good evidence of why it won't work too - why would anyone want to protect someone who thinks they're thick or stupid or selfish? Doesn't make me wanna protect anyone tbh.

phoenixrosehere · 19/07/2021 07:47

This thread is a good demonstration of why the government's plan to rely on people's common sense and community spirit isn't going to work.

It was never going to work and relying on people’s common sense only works if many people actually have and/or use some sense in the first place. Many people couldn’t even be bothered to learn what a meter is to SD or to wear a mask properly ime especially when rules loosened. The amount of noses I see sticking out of masks when people come into our shop and other indoor places is ridiculous. I don’t like wearing a mask but I also rather not end up having to isolate, end up in the hospital, or make someone else sick. Definitely still going to wear them in small, crowded places, indoors and on public transport. See more reason TO do so than to not.

southeastdweller · 19/07/2021 07:47

Wearing a mask in this heat when I don’t have to? No way. Mines already binned.

Whenthedealgoesdown · 19/07/2021 07:48

No

Neverendingstory356 · 19/07/2021 07:49

I am pregnant and pregnant women are vulnerable to COVID so it doesn't real feel like "freedom day" for me. I will be keeping inside and away from others as much as possible, but I need to use public transport to travel to work, doctor's appointments, etc. I know it isn't a legal requirement anymore, but I will greatly appreciate anyone around me who also continues to wear one on public transport or in close spaces.

Obviously I myself will be wearing one, but that will help to protect others more than myself.

AlwaysLatte · 19/07/2021 07:51

Well you don’t have to so you’re not unreasonable on that front. I’ll be wearing mine. It does no harm to me or others around me. Offers me and others some protection and helps others to feel safer and more comfortable, particularly those who work in public transport and retail who according to research would rather customers continued to wear masks. If I can do something that makes others feel better without any detriment to me why wouldn’t I?
⬆️ This. I will be continuing to wear one.

Garfunkle · 19/07/2021 07:51

I’m on the train on my way to work at moment. Every single person in my carriage is wearing a mask 👌

Medievalist · 19/07/2021 07:54

I guess I'm being a bit stupid not to wear one in certain places. It's just been so hot and unbearable

I'd say selfish rather than stupid op.

Wearing a mask protects other people more than it protects you.

So I will continue to wear my mask in busy places out of respect for the welfare of others.

awaywiththefae · 19/07/2021 07:54

Just wondering… if masks really work then why have we been in and out of lockdown/seeing cases rise. I realise there are variants but surely a mask should prevent spread of all viruses, the fact they don’t surely means they’re useless?

AbsolutelyPatsy · 19/07/2021 07:56

so many train staff are having to isolate currently

Whyarewehardofthinking · 19/07/2021 07:57

Masks are still compulsory in our school, we have cases as recently as Friday popping up... I'll be wearing a mask at work and elsewhere for the sake of others.
