I think we should all just look at the stats and deaths elsewhere in the world and have a think.

Frogsandsheep · 19/07/2021 06:53

I am still wearing one a lot of the time mostly to try to protect other people. I think shouting ‘freedom’ @ItsVousNotMoi is incredibly thoughtless - freedom for you will not feel like freedom for many others. By all means throw your mas away, but your overall attitude of glee is incredibly selfish when many others are fearing what today will bring.

ArnoldJudasRimmer · 19/07/2021 06:53

Definitely still wearing one. Also not going to shops (unless necessary) or busy places for a few weeks now to avoid the initial surge.

poshme · 19/07/2021 06:54

Nope. Not wearing one unless absolutely required.

I'm double jabbed, and have just recovered from covid, so I'm no risk to anyone else.

I hate them- it makes it much harder to see & I'm short sighted enough already...

Coldilox · 19/07/2021 06:54

This is the problem with “personal choice” and responsibility.

Wearing a mask primarily protects others. I’m happy to choose to protect others by wearing a mask, but plenty of others will choose not to wear one, leaving me unprotected.

So it’s not really a choice is it?

Toomuchspinning · 19/07/2021 06:57

I would be leaving the mask off for the outdoor, distanced school run today, yes.

But we are self isolating, so it’s moot. Though nobody offered me any pilot schemes to join? Funny, that.

Badhabits1 · 19/07/2021 06:57

I would wear one on the train especially if it was busy. You don’t know who you could be sitting next to.

TeddingtonTrashbag · 19/07/2021 06:57

Nor wearing one -no!
If anyone gets arsey will just ignore them.

ThreeB · 19/07/2021 06:59

Still wearing mine. It's around 99% mask wearing on my train this morning which I am very glad about.

I will still be wearing one here (Essex) rates are really high, schools have had to close. Doesn't seem worth increasing my risk by not wearing one. Will be insisting my teens keep wearing theirs for now as well.

endofthelinefinally · 19/07/2021 07:01

I hate the fact that people are given the choice to put others at risk. Most people are selfish.
I have got family and friends in the far east. Deaths are rocketing and they are back in lockdown. It turns out the Chinese vaccine isn't very effective and most people there have had that one.

redcarbluecar · 19/07/2021 07:04

Wearing one has never felt like entrapment, so not doing so won’t be ‘freedom’- the dramatisation isn’t really necessary. I’ll still wear one whenever it seems right.

Coldilox · 19/07/2021 07:05

I love how when people don’t like something they just sweepingly claim “there’s no evidence” when in fact there is plenty.

FourEyesGood · 19/07/2021 07:05

I’ll be wearing mine. The infection rates in England are terrifying, and some people haven’t been able to have the vaccine. They must be really scared about ‘freedom day’.

SpringRainbow · 19/07/2021 07:06

As far as I am concerned nothing has really changed.

I’ll be carrying on as I always have.

Crowsaregreat · 19/07/2021 07:06

I'll be wearing one wherever I've always done and will be avoiding populated places because I don't want covid. People will look back at this time and be absolutely baffled why people thought it was liberating to massively increase risk when we're already seeing numbers ramping up. You enjoy your freedom to infect others, I'll stay home.

ParrotShoulder · 19/07/2021 07:08

I guess I'm being a bit stupid not to wear one in certain places. It's just been so hot and unbearable

You're being really stupid for not wearing one today, purely because Boris says it's okay not to, while cases are going up and up everyday, and a bit of goady fucker for starting a thread on here about it.

You could have not worn one before if you were that bothered, and just claimed that you were exempt if anyone tried to fine you.

Personally I think that they should have kept masks being compulsory on public transport and shops, a lot of people don't have a choice about using public transport and shops.

MaltedMilk88 · 19/07/2021 07:08

I think I'll try to assess the situation whilst I'm there
Supermarkets when busy I'll wear but if it's 10pm at night and hardly anyone is in there then I'll probably not bother, same with normal shops. I don't use public transport luckily but if I did would probably wear one!

Benjispruce5 · 19/07/2021 07:08

I’ll be weary mine. Not because of what the twerps at no 10 say but because many scientists and medical experts recommend it.I’m double jabbed but still can catch it .

Benjispruce5 · 19/07/2021 07:09

Wearing

AbsolutelyPatsy · 19/07/2021 07:09

i thought you had to continue on public transport? or was that just london and manchester?

NigellasGuest · 19/07/2021 07:09

I will wear one on the tube but only on the train if it's really really REALLY crowded. Also if I go to the dentist, doctors, a hospital or any medical type setting.

I won't be going to any shops that require masks thank you very much. I haven't been shopping properly since masks became mandatory because they make me incredibly uncomfortable and it's no fun browsing.

Poppynit · 19/07/2021 07:10

I’ll still be wearing one at work today.

Rates are high, personally know more people testing positive than I ever have, and it’s my first all-day shift back in pharmacy after a couple of months out of it so I’ll be serving vulnerable people. I would rather go to sleep tonight with a clear conscience that I’ve done everything to make them feel as comfortable as they can. I also just don’t think it’ll look very good from a healthcare professional when rates in our area are so high at the moment.

My asthma is playing up a bit recently (thanks pollen), my anxiety is high, and it’s obviously boiling today so it’ll be amazing to take it off for a breather in the dispensary and back shop when I’m not customer-facing ☺️☺️

Benjispruce5 · 19/07/2021 07:11

@ThreeB that’s reassuring and love the name.Grin
