I am guessing last week of August/beginning of September, and schools won't be going back when they are due to!

Don't kid yourselves, the virus still has lots of people left to infect. It won't peak unless people change their behaviour to make it difficult for the virus to spread. With restriction just lifted on Monday, I'd say people aren't going to change their behaviour enough, just yet.
Right on cue! The triangle of doom - Sonnet, Nanny and PrincessNutNuts.

I'd say people arent going to change their behaviour, full stop.

You remain free to lock yourself down, though.

@NannyAndJohn

Well I wasn't that far off from the 19th given that we're only one doubling time away from 100000.
Cases today under 40,000 less than 25% up in a week, you might need to revise your calculations
SpnBaby1967 · 22/07/2021 17:04

The eleventy-third of sebrutober at precisely 2.03pm unless the wind is blowing northwards in which case it'll be 26.78a/PM exactly.

Or, how about noone on MN knows the answer to that so stop fucking asking!

I'm not that far off having a million pounds in my savings account!
I'm not that far off marrying Jensen Ackles Grin

Testing is down 172k compared to last Thursday.
The zoe app says more like 60k.
Bristol and South west is on its knees with covid.
Will take 3 weeks to see results loosening restrictions.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 22/07/2021 17:10

I’d be surprised if that was an actual peak.

Right, so when there are less cases it's because there is less testing, but not the other way round?
Backofbeyond50 · 22/07/2021 17:13

Cases in our area have gone from 350 per 100K to 550 per 100K in two days. We are fairly rural and not in a hotspot.
I hope that the final easing of restrictions doesn't impact too much.

NannyAndJohn · 22/07/2021 17:13

Even our "let it rip" supporting Health Secretary has admitted that we'll reach 100000, and even 200000 may be possible.

It's a question of when, not if.

SonnetForSpring · 22/07/2021 17:16

Testing is down. People not testing because they want to go on holiday and also PCR results take longer than usual.

Whatever9999 · 22/07/2021 17:16

@TheVampiresWife

Numbers are coming down pretty sharply where I am, and we've consistently had some of the highest rates in the country for weeks. It may be due to students going home (we've three universities nearby) and of course it may change in the coming days/weeks (we're a city famous for its nightlife), but it's still good to see.
Numbers still rising here and the headline number looks quite scary until you realise it's probably 5 families and the per 100000 doesn't take in to account that the village has virtually doubled in size over the last couple years. Still only know a couple people who have had it in this wave and for them it wasn't as bad as my hayfever
Backofbeyond50 · 22/07/2021 17:16

Come on time after time we are told cases are only high because we are testing more.
Yet testing has been flat for ages. Yet cases are rising.

SonnetForSpring · 22/07/2021 17:17

It's so strange why people post on here just to call those who are relaying the facts, doom mongerers. If you are all so sure everything is fine and dandy, why are you looking at the covid board daily. Why not get on with your lives.

Well one thing is for certain that if/when we hit 100,000 you will be cockahoop with 'I told you so' joyfulness.
SonnetForSpring · 22/07/2021 17:18

Right, so when there are less cases it's because there is less testing, but not the other way round.

Think about the logic of what you have just written.

NannyAndJohn · 22/07/2021 17:18

It seems as though we're seeing a brief plateau as the football has been over for a while, but we'll be back in the shit once the effect of Monday is seen in the figures.

This is the calm before the storm, if you like.

Because people who scaremonger and throw around ridiculous predictions need to be called out.

Testing today is 172k down on last Thursday. Vaccination also slowing down.

Maybe some delaying tests as going away.

Yep, it's rather laughable.

Innocently read off some figures from a government created table or graph and you're treated like the spawn of Satan.

Whatever9999 · 22/07/2021 17:25

Sorry testing is down 11% and cases down 17%

3asAbird · 22/07/2021 17:29

I hope we seen results of euros already but not sure.
But other large scale events like silver stone has happened.
Night clubs open.
Some state school in England don't break up until next week.
Bristol only broke up this week.
Or cases are awful and rising.
Only 50% of population is double jabbed.

Anyone want to predict when the next lockdown will be?

Some of us are relaying facts, too - such as the fact that cases are falling where we are, that hospitalisations and deaths are very low compared to previous comparable points in the pandemic, that even one dose of vaccine offers up to 94% protection against hospitalisation, that those who catch it but are double jabbed are reporting very mild illness, and so on.

But these facts don't seem to interest you. Where most would (and do) feel relief, gratitude to those who have pioneered vaccines, hope and a bit of optimism, whenever anyone posts facts like these you, Nuts, Incognito or N&J pop up to tell us we're wrong and everything is shit. And that we're heartless harpies who want to 'let it rip' and are happy people are dying.

Maybe it's not those with a more balanced view of the whole thing who need to get off the covid board and get on with their lives.

Where I live in the Southwest cases have come down slightly so saying we are on our knees is over-egging it a bit IMO.
