I am guessing last week of August/beginning of September, and schools won't be going back when they are due to!

@MagicSummer

Well, when you hear that supermarkets are taking away the social distancing marking on the floors, you do worry about what the hell is going to happen!
They'll be going wild in the aisles!!
HarveySchlumpfenburger · 18/07/2021 15:43

I think Jenrick said end of August/or Sept on sky news. Which would be after the schools go back.

I’m not quite sure what it is about schools going back with no mitigations and fewer isolating requirements that would lead cases to fall or continue to to fall if we’d reached the peak a week or so earlier. Something doesn’t quite add up given the reason they gave for going now was so we weren’t doing it as schools go back.

September

TheVampiresWife · 18/07/2021 15:44

Meh it’s Not going to happen again

2boysand1princess · 18/07/2021 15:48

I reckon restrictions will start to come back in October/November to help push numbers down in hot spot areas. Will be only some restrictions first and then if that doesn’t work full short lockdown to bring cases down over winter.

CovidKingfisher · 18/07/2021 15:51

There won't be any more bloody lockdowns. We have to live with it now.

I swear some posters on here love to be locked up and get excited about having an excuse to stay indoors Hmm

Cornettoninja · 18/07/2021 15:52

I’m really not sure, I’m not even convinced there will be another lockdown if there’s not even a hint of discussion about it now. Hospital admissions are manageable right now but it’s clear they’ll continue to rise alongside cases (but much lower than before) and there’s no confident suggestion that cases are levelling off yet. But then our cabinet are due their holidays and clearly not in the mood to talk shop at the moment…

I’m slightly comforted by India in that there wasn’t any nationwide intervention (though I believe there were localised and private restrictions) and their cases seemingly went down after about a month. The last article I read on it was discussing the fact that nobody can really pinpoint why and that’s within a country with no where near the same level of vaccination.

It’s a pretty fragile hope of mine at the moment though and I wouldn’t be shocked to find us back in very strict measures if not lockdown.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 18/07/2021 15:53

I bloody hope we're not locked down in September, I've got a weeks holiday booked!

Seriously, why do people do this, it's almost as though they are looking forward to another lockdown.

No doubt the three stooges will be along soon to spread their doom and gloom!

MyGardenSanctuary · 18/07/2021 15:53

It's the prepper types that love a good lockdown. Hmm

SonnetForSpring · 18/07/2021 15:54

I was wondering this...I hope it is after August. I'm not sure we will make it that far though to be honest. Sad times. I have know idea what they are playing at.

LaurieFairyCake · 18/07/2021 15:54

Never

It won't happen again

MyGardenSanctuary · 18/07/2021 15:54

And yet here you are on a covid board adding to a thread that’s very clear in what they wanted to discuss? Why would you even be giving these discussions the time of day let alone adding to them?

Absolutely. They can close restaurants and shops but I will certainly not "stay home" or distance from family and friends again, nor will anyone I know.
Lemonmelonsun · 18/07/2021 16:12

Cornet that's interesting, do you think they started to surpress figures? Or cases literally went down?

Deux · 18/07/2021 16:13

I don’t think there’ll be any more provided deaths are low. I see it as the new phase where Covid is endemic.
