Anyone want to predict when the next lockdown will be?

I am guessing last week of August/beginning of September, and schools won't be going back when they are due to!

Because cases are very high and CEV people might not feel comfortable going out?

Those of us under retirement age are working and have been at least since the end of the last lockdown if not all year, depending upon employer, so it's not like we've had any choice about going out or not.

Maybe it is just coincidence and GDPR related or a rare example of forward planning where they've removed the requirement for supermarkets to offer priority slots but said 'you can still do it if you want to with the data we've already provided' and those supermarkets have thought it makes business sense to have that particular customer base to market to.

SonnetForSpring · 21/07/2021 21:44

Whatever, here is the table showing 11%.

Anyone want to predict when the next lockdown will be?
SonnetForSpring · 21/07/2021 21:45

It's from coronovirus.data.gov.uk

Bordois · 21/07/2021 21:55

They're England only figures up to 16th July

NannyAndJohn · 21/07/2021 22:27

@SonnetForSpring

The data coming out of Israel seems to suggest the reduction in transmission due to the vaccines is offset by the evolutionary advantage of delta. So although the vaccines do protect well against hospitalizations and death, there are going to be a lot of cases if we have no restrictions. Israel have decided it is not possible to rely totally on the vaccine, vaccines have to be combined with other restrictions. People are testing less in the UK so the positivity rate is increasing and is now just over 11%. This means we do not have a clear picture of what is going on. So we will have to wait and see how many hospitalised and deaths we get. Awful situation. This is summer, heading into respiratory illness season. What a bloody mess. I really think schools are going to be impacted in autumn/winter. The government have decided to put the economy over health and education. So saddened by the inevitability of it all. The government are criminals.
That's what I've been saying for months - Delta outweighs the vaccines.

I'd hoped I was wrong but deep down I knew I was right.

We're in for another year of carnage.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 21/07/2021 22:33

I'd hoped I was wrong but deep down I knew I was right.

There’s a first time for everything I suppose. What’s that saying about a stopped clock?

TheKeatingFive · 21/07/2021 22:34

I'd hoped I was wrong

You are such a blatant liar 😂

Bordois · 21/07/2021 22:40

Oh, is it that time already? The beclowning hour is upon us.

TheTallOakTrees · 21/07/2021 22:53

@NannyAndJohn

What's your dream outcome?

TheKeatingFive · 21/07/2021 22:59

What's your dream outcome?

I think I know this.

Lockdown forever
Health anxiety as everyone’s top priority
Wfh for all (except for food production people, medics, cops and delivery guys. They need to take all the risks I’m not prepared to)
Zoom Christmas dinners, weddings, parties, all social interaction.

Keep going until death is eradicated.

Covid is all but gone and we can carry on as normal (a slightly different, but improved version of the pre-2020 "normal").

TheKeatingFive · 21/07/2021 23:25

Covid is all but gone

This isn’t going to happen. Wake up.

Quartz2208 · 21/07/2021 23:25

@NannyAndJohn but I think that it the oxymoron nature of your posts the dichotomy between

I think explains a lot. Two competing sides where the actual reality of what needs to and probably will happen lies in the middle

And what would you do to improve the pre 2020 normal

MarshaBradyo · 21/07/2021 23:27

Covid is all but gone

Worldwide? How would you achieve it

NannyAndJohn · 21/07/2021 23:44

@TheKeatingFive

Covid is all but gone

This isn’t going to happen. Wake up.

I know, thanks to the decisions of our government.

But I was asked for my dream scenario, not the most realistic one.

TheVampiresWife · 21/07/2021 23:50

@NannyAndJohn covid would have to be 'all but gone' globally for it to be all but gone here. That's never going to happen, even if we had a fit for purpose PM. He's a twat but his decisions have no bearing on the covid status of other countries.

TheKeatingFive · 21/07/2021 23:52

I know, thanks to the decisions of our government.

Ah yes. The now endemic nature of the highly transmissible virus that emerged from China and has impacted every country in the globe can be attributed entirely to Boris and his cronies.

I know you’re desperate to dispense blame, but do you ever actually listen to your ridiculous self? 🤣

More flexibility regarding WFH, encouragement to wear masks when ill and during flu seasons, better company policies regarding sick leave, booking for leisure activities/days out, business travel replaced with Zoom meetings, more focus on spending time with family instead of foreign holidays, ....

Everyone will be happier and healthier.

RoseRedRoseBlue · 22/07/2021 00:14

Speak for yourself.

RosaMoline · 22/07/2021 07:11

@NannyAndJohn -

You also insisted that you were ‘right’
when you said we’d have 100k
cases by 19th July.
I can’t take anything you say seriously I’m afraid, and your ‘dream scenario’
sounds utterly miserable.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 22/07/2021 07:26

As someone with very little family left in the UK what do you suggest I do in your 'dream scenario' @NannyAndJohn, never go anywhere or see anyone?

Were you this miserable pre covid?

So you're happy with going in and out of lockdown, happy with millions getting Long Covid, happy with hundreds of thousands dying?

NannyAndJohn · 22/07/2021 07:30

@PinkSparklyPussyCat

As someone with very little family left in the UK what do you suggest I do in your 'dream scenario' *@NannyAndJohn*, never go anywhere or see anyone?

Were you this miserable pre covid?

In my "dream scenario" you would be able to go anywhere and see anyone.

Because there would be no Covid.

Unfortunately our government and Joe Public seem to be happy with the rolling lockdowns.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 22/07/2021 07:34

No, you're the one constantly calling for lockdowns and getting the figures wrong making predictions.

Our government has got a hell of a lot wrong but name me one government that has got it right.

Notforme22 · 22/07/2021 08:00

Yes @NannyAndJohn the public are soooo happy with 'rolling' lockdowns.

If you / we / anyone is convinced there will be more lockdowns then the options are:

A) get out there and enjoy things whilst they are open
B) spend your entire life on MN telling everyone how bad things will be which won't change the outcome anyway and miss out on things whilst you can actually do them

I don't know what the future holds and neither do you (100k daily cases by 21st June) so stop spending your whole life on here trying to convince people you do, it won't change the outcome. What are you trying to achieve by doing it?
