Will we be locking down again this year?

Sorry, I'm sure it's been done to death Blush

But do you think we will lock down again this year or are we done for now? Seems unlikely given the new blasé attitude of Boris etc - He seems to care less now

Why would we lock down again now that the vaccines have broken the link between cases and hospitalisations and death?

Homeontherangeuk · 13/07/2021 18:37

Literally just posted the same underneath! I think there will be, over 36,000 cases today & 50 deaths... What state will we be in in a fortnight after the euros?

TreaslakeandBack · 13/07/2021 18:38

No but I think restrictions will be back.
Probably rule of 6 etc.

Blessex · 13/07/2021 18:40

But why would we lockdown again if there hospitals are not full? There has to be a reason to lockdown.

Getyourarseofffthequattro · 13/07/2021 18:40

I seriously hope not.

Exactly! There may still be restrictions but no, I think we'll avoid another lockdown.
roarfeckingroarr · 13/07/2021 18:44

I won't obey if they do

It's NOT BROKEN. Don't spout misinformation. It is weakened but not broken.
rwalker · 13/07/2021 18:48

My biggest concern is what we are going to talk about criticise ,speculate and know what should of been done when this is over.

nancy75 · 13/07/2021 18:48

I don’t understand this. ok you can break the rules by going to someone’s house, what else are you going to do? Go in a pub that’s shut, eat in a restaurant that isn’t open, try on a frock in a shop that’s closed? If it happens it happens, saying we won’t do it is just daft - we have no say over whether we do most of it
PrincessNutNuts · 13/07/2021 18:48

That's up to the government.

But given their past form. I expect them to create the conditions where it is necessary.

RoseRedRoseBlue · 13/07/2021 18:49

I really really don’t want to but I can absolutely see an autumn/winter lockdown.

Blessex · 13/07/2021 18:50

@SonnetForSpring it’s weakened ENOUGH if you want to be pedantic

whatswithtodaytoday · 13/07/2021 18:50

It hasn't been broken. It has been significantly reduced - thank goodness - but if cases become completely ridiculous hospitals will still be overwhelmed.
Blessex · 13/07/2021 18:50

Can somebody please answer WHY we would need to lockdown again

Blessex · 13/07/2021 18:51

@whatswithtodaytoday I just don’t buy that the hospitals will be overwhelmed again. Enough people are protected now and boosters will start soon for the winter.

I think now Scotland has made their announcement Boris will change the mask ruling and possibly the WFH ruling he announced yesterday
nocoolnamesleft · 13/07/2021 18:55

Look what's happening in NE hospitals. And 20% of the people in ITU have had both jabs. Boris releasing all controls is insanity.

Heyelp · 13/07/2021 18:56

@nocoolnamesleft what is happening in NE hospitals?

KingdomScrolls · 13/07/2021 18:57

If we are I'm ignoring it. We've stuck by all the rules including Christmas when I know people didn't, and had to work throughout face to face with a section of the public with high Covid rates and little social responsibility. People are out in pubs, thousands at the football (I don't blame them) but I won't be not seeing my family again on my son's birthday or at Christmas.

PrincessNutNuts · 13/07/2021 19:05

@Blessex

Exactly the same reasons we had to before.
MiaMarshmallows · 13/07/2021 19:06

No. We won't.

Getyourarseofffthequattro · 13/07/2021 19:07

But surely @PrincessNutNuts the NHS is far far less likely to become overwhelmed now the majority of adults have been vaccinated?

MrsPsmalls · 13/07/2021 19:08

Yup we will. Boris might call it something else but it will be lockdown really.

GandP · 13/07/2021 19:11

I expect that Jan-March will be lockdown season for a few years, in my view.

We have to find ways to adapt to our brave new world. Sad
