Wait for euro final to be over and Boris with lock us down again. Are you going to follow the rules if he does?

there will be nobody to run and shop in those businesses when a huge number of people are ill/dead

Drama queen!

@PinkSparklyPussyCat

I sometimes feel as though I've gone back to April 2020 when I read some posts.
I know!

It's as thought a massively succesful vaccination programme never happened.

And yes yes I know. It 'doesn't stop you spreading it', 'not everyone has had both doses', and of course the vaaaaaariants.

But to listen to some here, you'd think the vaccine was about as useful as lemon juice.

TheVampiresWife · 14/07/2021 17:55

@NannyAndJohn time and time again you out yourself as someone who (despite your claims to the contrary) has absolutely no care for the health or wellbeing of others. It's astounding that somebody can be so heartless, uncaring and unaffected by the suffering of others and have so little empathy or understanding for what continued restrictions - to what end? - might mean for people.

The word selfish is bandied about a lot on this board. You, however, are the very definition of it.

It's getting well retro around here, unfortunately.

do people not see this? really?

Are you having a laugh? This isn't ebola you know.
Wellbythebloodyhell · 14/07/2021 18:52

@bizarreskull

yes, those places need to close, as shit as it is, and a lot of businesses will go bust, but we need to get on top of this properly, not a half assed attempt at lockdown again. Also the borders need closing properly, no holidays!
You realise that businesses closing leads to poverty and a crumbling economy, which then also leads to deaths, or is only covid deaths that matter? Seriously give your head a wobble and get in the real world.
chocolatesaltyballs22 · 14/07/2021 19:19

@Wellbythebloodyhell if I weren't way too old for nightclubs I'd be right there with you. But I agree with the sentiment!

Did you miss the bit where 99% of people who catch covid are perfectly fine, don't even need hospitalisation and don't die??

Ha ha I'm too old too tbh, but if time is limited I'll a enjoy reliving my youth for one more night before I croak it. Is it still acceptable to dance around your handbag these days? 🤔

RosaMoline · 14/07/2021 19:24

Some posters here have clearly lost of sense of proportion.
I saw one earlier (I forget which thread) saying that they enjoyed wfh, and were ‘not bothered’ about holidays and going to pubs and restaurants.
Now that’s selfish.
I am looking forward to the 19th to see what Nanny has to say when the mythical 100k a day doesn’t materialise.
It’s almost as if the vax doesn’t exist here.

IveGotASongThatllGetOnYNerves · 14/07/2021 19:29

Lockdown is always possible but tbh I think it's less likely to happen the longer we live with this. It will become like the flu as far as many people are concerned. Jab the vulnerable, business as usual for the rest and some will die.

I don't see much more being done long term unless it mutated into something where folks were dropping dead in the streets in their hundreds.

I think it's politically unpopular and I think governments are more concerned with what's going to win or lose the election than they are people dying. If enough people of voting age are saying no more lockdown, that's what they'll do. Call me cynical. 😁

Chillychangchoo · 15/07/2021 08:28

Less likely the more time goes on.

They can’t rule it out but we might just make it this winter without.

I know so many young people this week laid up in bed I’ll with covid (unvaccinated). It’s prompted a lot of their friends to get vaccinated. I think that’s what is going to happen. The more people you actually know in your circle falling ill with covid the more likely you are to get the vaccine as a young person, and I think that’s what it’s going to take.

@Wellbythebloodyhell

It's very clear that some people are very narrow minded where covid is concerned and cannot see beyond it. Only covid matters nothing else, it can only come from arrogance or privilege with absolutely zero idea about the real world
👍 spot on

Another lockdown would only suffice to destroy hospitality and non essential businesses. It would have no actual impact on hospital admissions or deaths but possibly on case numbers as atm people are testing regularly to be able to participate in normal activities. It will however cause alot of businesses to go underground, which is already happening and therefore allow people to resume their normal lives without paying into the tax or ni contributions whilst still being paid furlough. If you wanted to privatise the NHS lockdowns are definitely the way to do it!

TheVampiresWife · 15/07/2021 23:08

Furlough is ending. How does that square with another lockdown?

TheKeatingFive · 15/07/2021 23:09

Basically this.

No it won’t. After all the Politicians need their Summer break and won’t be concerned with what’s happening in the real world.

We’ll be back to square one come Sept I reckon 🤨
