Wait for euro final to be over and Boris with lock us down again. Are you going to follow the rules if he does?

Even if you could get your mate in to cut your hair or have a drink inside with your mates, it's really not living your best life exactly as the same way would would if restrictions wasnt there.

If that really feels like it is for so many then why even care? If hairdressers being shut, pubs cinema, etc can all be recreated at home then it's a non issue surely?

Personally I thought it sucked but I'm a family if six so if i did any of that in my house that's another rule broken.

Thewiseoneincognito · 12/07/2021 10:51

@TheVampiresWife Furlough will be back even if it’s not extended this time.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 12/07/2021 10:55
@Notsowise the public will be crying out to be locked down once this mess spills into the autumn, July 19th is the floodgates opening, the gov will start backtracking very soon.

@TheVampiresWife I think this because we’re just waiting for the vaccine resistant variants to rear their heads, no doubt out there already we just haven’t sequenced them enough yet.
Are you this miserable in all areas of your life or only when it comes to Covid?

I hate to sound like a 'source please' bellend, but - source, please?

Thewiseoneincognito · 12/07/2021 11:02

@PinkSparklyPussyCat

I appreciate what I’ve said may not be want you want to read or something you feel will happen but it is my opinion. In my view it is naive to assume we can simply live with Covid without some degree of compromise from ourselves. The situation changes daily around the world, it’s not me being ‘miserable’ that’s going to bestow another wave onto the UK, it will be the virus itself.

This article says if further restrictions are needed the government will have to reconsider ending furlough. Granted it’s not saying it will definitely be back but it’s also not saying it definitely won’t be back.

Yes, it says that if restrictions are reintroduced the government will come under pressure to reconsider extending furlough. Not that it will extend it, or even consider doing so.

So no evidence at all that it will be back at all.

If nothing else positive comes out of this, at least people will be forced to learn the names of more than the first four letters of the Greek alphabet.

I mourn the loss of the Classical Education...
@Thewiseoneincognito we haven’t even given any boosters yet, how could you possibly know that they aren’t an ‘adequate shield’?

The public (bar you, Nanny and Princess) will not favour another lockdown. As Chris Whitty said, you reach a stage where you have done what you can and now we need to get on with it and accept more people will die.
Polls have always come out strongly in favour of restrictions.

In the past, perhaps. When hospitalisations were through the roof and daily deaths over 1000 and the vaccine programme hadn't kicked in and there was a furlough scheme.

These days, I'm guessing not so much.

Kazzyhoward · 12/07/2021 14:56

@NannyAndJohn Polls have always come out strongly in favour of restrictions.

Probably because of all the people who get paid for not working, i.e. furlough etc. If furlough and the other support schemes were stopped, I'd imagine the polls would be very different.

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 12/07/2021 14:57

Oh I do love how someone always knows someone in the NHS on these threads who just knows this is coming. FFS.

Not to mention that most NHS staff won't have access to any "insider knowledge", so even if you do know someone in the NHS, they're just repeating hearsay from other people, who probably heard it as hearsay from someone else. It's basically just speculative gossip.
chocolatesaltyballs22 · 12/07/2021 15:26

Exactly @Kazzyhoward. I know people who work on the Covid wards and they have zero inside knowledge.

MareofBeasttown · 12/07/2021 16:05

This thread is so odd. If I am not wrong, people who haven't got the vaccine are predicting that the rest of us are crying out for lockdown? Huh?

Notsowise · 12/07/2021 16:21

Well I DO know someone who works for the NHS. He said last October - Covid is here forever, will put extra pressure on us for the next 5 winters or so but if there’s a vaccine we’ll cope.

In what capacity do they “work for the NHS”? That’s a wide range of occupations…
