Wait for euro final to be over and Boris with lock us down again. Are you going to follow the rules if he does?

OP posts:
Backofbeyond50 · 11/07/2021 23:03

He won't.

PaulaPetunia · 11/07/2021 23:04

It's hardly a normal summer.

Mummyoflittledragon · 11/07/2021 23:04

@irresistibleoverwhelm

I know an NHS consultant in lung medicine who is convinced we will be heading into another lockdown Sept/Oct time on the current case rates. Says it's likely to be "you had the summer you wanted, now look what happened " messaging.
He means the government will give this message. Well they’re arrogant enough, I give you that.
Doghead · 11/07/2021 23:05

OP, are you drunk?

FunMcCool · 11/07/2021 23:06

@irresistibleoverwhelm
How would a doctor have anymore insight into a lockdown than anyone else? There may be high death rates in the autumn it doesn’t mean Boris will lockdown again I think the vibe is we have to deal with this now. A doctor doesn’t have anymore insight than me or you.

CrunchyCarrot · 11/07/2021 23:06

This is a variant of Winter is Coming, isn't it.

Simbacatisback · 11/07/2021 23:07

@IncessantNameChanger

I always have a hollow laugh when people say they ignore the lockdown rules.

So they was getting there haircut, going out for meals, the pub, gym, cinema,holidays and theater was they? Lovely if you could. It was all shut in England

I have done all of those things legally in the past 17 months
covi · 11/07/2021 23:08

@Doghead

OP, are you drunk?
😂 not yet ... was going to do some shots but we lost to Italy so I'll go to bed instead.

I agree

This summer has more restrictions than last for us - certainly on travel

The scenes of people out and about it’s scary how fast is it going to spread

Arrowheart · 11/07/2021 23:11

Well aren't you cheerful OP

Bunnyfuller · 11/07/2021 23:14

There will be another lockdown, and Boris will blame the public (you) for not having enough personal responsibility. It’s a win win (if you don’t mind loads of illness and more deaths): he stops being the baddy, he wins the popular ‘yooman routes’ vote - again - and kicks another few bricks out of the NHS (whilst working towards a herd-immunity-by-stealth even though it is proving it is mutating more efficiently than our progress).

The irony of it decimating the lower socioeconomic groups (Tory stalwarts) seems to be lost on them.
Learn to live with it means yes lots more will die, oh dear. You had your summer though.

Bunnyfuller · 11/07/2021 23:15

Winter is coming 😂😂😂🙈

Bunnyfuller · 11/07/2021 23:16

If we get to variant W can we call it Wanker Variant?

A consultant in the frontline of treating and planning for coronavirus hasn’t got any better idea than you or I about at what point the NHS is likely to be so overwhelmed that a lockdown is inevitable?

I don’t know about you, but I work on nineteenth-century cultural history. I think my friend who has trained for twenty-five years and whose job is planning resources for lung admissions to ITU, and working in frontline coronavirus wards, probably knows more than I do about what NHS resources are like. I mean, I’m assuming so. Or maybe my expertise in 1860s philosophers gives me a better idea. It’s a thought. Hmm

FunMcCool · 11/07/2021 23:34

@irresistibleoverwhelm

You’re working on the assumption that the government give a crap about the NHS.

Bobholll · 11/07/2021 23:35

Euro2020 mutation. Actually happened in 2021 but no-one could be bothered to pay to change the branding 😂 is the Olympics still Tokyo2020?

Not sure what letter we are up to but here is one you can name

Agreed. Those that didn’t follow rules saying they lived a normal life must’ve had a different version of “normal” to me. I followed the rules. If I hadn’t it wouldn’t have made life normal for us. If anything i saw it as prolonging restrictions more. I couldn’t go to certain places without masks, when kids had symptoms had to isolate until negative pcr (Our local schools send kids home if they have any symptoms) Also had numerous periods of isolation for my kids who had to stay at home when bubbles burst. Couldn’t go to my fave restaurants or cinemas for absolutely ages, didn’t do holidays the “normal” way. It’s one thing going abroad and holidaying and it’s another having to travel under restrictions, obtain pcrs and undergo quarantine if I wanted to go to a county that wasn’t on the green list. The biggest one for me was DH not being able to spend more than a few hours when my baby was born last June. He was there for the birth and then that’s it. Baby and I ended up staying for 2 weeks. Even if chose not to follow rules that wouldn’t have helped my DH come and see us.
Bunnyfuller · 11/07/2021 23:40

@Jenasaurus so it must surely be the Why-aye variant?

Todaytomorrowyesterday · 11/07/2021 23:40

I’ve no idea whether another lockdown is coming - but I’m not sure the government has enough money for another full lockdown.

I’m not sure the government has enough money and I worry that no furlong will mean redundancy and poverty for the already people struggling.
