Wait for euro final to be over and Boris with lock us down again. Are you going to follow the rules if he does?

If people are literally dying on trolleys by the hundreds because there are no beds the government will start giving a crap about public opinion pretty quickly. Data extrapolation estimates of the next peak dwarf the last one (but no-one’s saying it openly - not yet)

PhilCornwall1 · 11/07/2021 23:47

@covi

Lockdown is coming home 😂
They think it's all over......
motogogo · 11/07/2021 23:48

I have dr friends who think it's the time just to throw in the towel and let it rip because it can't be contained,

Bunnyfuller · 11/07/2021 23:49

@PhilCornwall1 it would appear it IS all over.

Meanwhile, however…..Covid…

Omg the next letter is E? Will it be the EuroS variant?!

Sparklingbrook · 11/07/2021 23:54

Have we got 'let it rip' yet?

Or the England variant. 🤔

OP, are you drunk?
What a ridiculous response Hmm

@irresistibleoverwhelm

I know an NHS consultant in lung medicine who is convinced we will be heading into another lockdown Sept/Oct time on the current case rates. Says it's likely to be "you had the summer you wanted, now look what happened " messaging.
"Lung medicine" 😂 I mean, I know a toothiologist.
irresistibleoverwhelm · 12/07/2021 00:14

That’s what she refers to herself as, Pics!

Wellbythebloodyhell · 12/07/2021 04:40

Seriously, bore off!

NannyAndJohn · 12/07/2021 05:12

The fallout from yesterday is going to be carnage - the biggest superspreader event of the pandemic so far.

Lockdown may end up being our only option.

duffeldaisy · 12/07/2021 05:16

“ I’ve no idea whether another lockdown is coming - but I’m not sure the government has enough money for another full lockdown.”

They would have if they hadn’t siphoned billions off to their friends and family.

Looking at the crowds yesterday, alone, it seems inevitable. The government won’t want to lock down and will probably end up doing it months too late, but it will be a popular move if there is no room in hospitals, if more children die, etc. It’s just so upsetting that there will have to be so much suffering before we get protections, rather than them putting in mitigations like ventilation, or people wearing masks, which is so much less harmful than mass illness, lockdown, mass illness, lockdown.

alwayscrashinginthesamecar1 · 12/07/2021 05:24

'Oh I agree...however what are we to do? Australia...Covid free country... (or so they thought) with only 77 new cases today and one death is back in full lockdown."

No Australia isn't in lockdown. NSW is though. I am in WA, and we aren't even wearing masks as we have less than a dozen cases that are all in quarantine.

LightAsTheBreeze · 12/07/2021 06:22

It could come sometime in the future, who knows, bit of a daft question really. If it does I will follow the rules that I have to because things are not open but as I am retired and haven't got DC under 18 it is easier to do more as I want than someone who is restricted by work, having to earn an income and follow school rules

rwalker · 12/07/2021 06:52

Yawn off

It's not about infection rates it's about hospital admission and deaths now.

covi · 12/07/2021 06:55

Oh get over yourself. If Boris was so concerned and didn't want the crowds he wouldn't have allowed the euros matches to take place a Wembley. He wouldn't have allowed 2000 vips to come into the country and be exempt from quarantining. He wouldn't have extended the pub opening times to 11pm in case England won. I'm not even going to mention anything about Wimbledon... no masks no social distancing.,,,etc

People are fed up they need some excitement in their lives.

Not Australia, NSW is in lockdown.

This is so many colours of ridiculous I'm not sure where to begin. 'Lung medicine'?!

I'm amazed, constantly, by how many people on MN are friendly with high-ranking medics/NHS staff who are party to all NHS planning strategy. Curiously however we rarely seem to get the actual medics on here. Probably too busy planning for the next lockdown to fanny about on a forum, I suppose.

TheVampiresWife · 12/07/2021 07:41

Also, OP, the press conference later is to confirm lifting of restrictions on the 19th, so about as far from a lockdown as you can get.

I sure hope so but we will have to wait and see.

Some of Australia's states have re-implemented a hard border, others have not. Victoria is an example of one who has:

Victoria has slammed its border shut with NSW to keep the infection out, and will only let Victorian residents re-enter if they do a 14 day quarantine.

@TheVampiresWife that’s what she calls herself, it’s not my term!

Feel free to disbelieve me, but i’m not inventing it (or my friend). People seem to want so much to pretend it isn’t happening, but it’s all repeating just as before.
