Be honest, would you self isolate now?

If you got a message saying you had been in contact with someone who has tested positive and were asked to self isolate, would you?

No

Eyjafjallajokulldottir · 07/07/2021 22:00

Only if I or a family member had a positive test. If my kids school bubble close next week we'll still be going on holiday on the Saturday.

Pootle40 · 07/07/2021 22:01

@Zampa

All over 70s and vulnerable are double jabbed

Not true. There are plenty of vulnerable people, including children, who are not vaccinated.

The NHS is not overwhelmed

Also not true. My local hospital was overwhelmed this weekend and extra A&E doctors were called in to cover demand.

Probably through lack of staff due to self isolation!

I am at the moment as another household member (double vaccinated) tested positive after having what at any other time would have been a mild summer cold.

I’m finding it really hard, excruciating actually. The biggest challenge is making sure no one else in the house catches it. It’s been much worse than any of the lockdowns.

I’ve got contact tracing turned off on the app anyway and I’ve had to block the T & T number on our landline as they’ve been relentless.

newusername2009 · 07/07/2021 22:02

No

spinningspaniels · 07/07/2021 22:03

Nope.

Too busy trying to rescue my business from the pit of despair thanks all the same.

Katie517 · 07/07/2021 22:05

No I would take tests instead like Michael Gove and the trial he was in! The only way I would isolate is if I actually had covid. Mentally I couldn’t cope with being stuck inside with no run/ walk for 10 days on the off chance I might have it from a fleeting contact with someone else, nor would I want to subject my 10 month old to 10 days in the house unnecessarily, it would be hell and I’m not prepared to do it. Would be more than happy to take tests though

Kanaloa · 07/07/2021 22:05

I wish people would stop saying it’s ‘just’ ten days. And what if you isolate for ten days then the next week get asked to isolate again? Not everyone can afford to be constantly isolating.

Cockadoodles · 07/07/2021 22:05

Of course! Can’t believe the people saying no! You’re what’s wrong with this country - and the world to be honest

Darbs76 · 07/07/2021 22:06

Yes

OnTheBrink1 · 07/07/2021 22:06

No. I’m not going to self isolate for any reason any more and neither are my kids. Won’t be going in crowded indoor places but no way am I not leaving my house for a walk under any circumstances. I won’t be not seeing family and friends again either no matter what.

godmum56 · 07/07/2021 22:08

yes

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 07/07/2021 22:08

Call from T&T? Yes.

App notification? No.

NewallKnowall · 07/07/2021 22:08

Well, we have and are. We knew we had been in close contact with someone who tested positive so we isolated from then. Am really glad we did as we have had a cascade of infections through the household since.

That said, I'm not sure I would again now we've had it...

I've never had the app so it wouldn't be through it.

LazyDaisy22 · 07/07/2021 22:09

Yes

TitsInAbsentia · 07/07/2021 22:09

Looking at the current infected numbers it's just a question of days before we all get pinged again. I've had covid (in Jan) and been double jabbed so I'd probably stay at home for a few days and then effectively test to release.

IdblowJonSnow · 07/07/2021 22:10

I wouldn't completely isolate but I wouldn't go inside anywhere and I'd test daily.

moynomore · 07/07/2021 22:10

No way

OvertiredandConfused · 07/07/2021 22:10

Yes.

We have double vaccinated staff testing positive

Confusedandshaken · 07/07/2021 22:11

Hell yeah

Nettleskeins · 07/07/2021 22:12

Yes if it's test and trace.
I've just done a 5 day stint (they only contacted me 5 days in from supposed contact)
However I'm not self isolating from those in my household as it is pointless, they are all jabbed or have had it. Negative PCR 7 days from contact and 2 lateral flows negative before and after.
The idea that I would sit in my bedroom and not mingle with my family on a spurious contact when they were all out and about 24/7 (quite frankly they are the ones who would give it to me, not the other way round).
Self isolation is a very blunt instrument

BlackeyedSusan · 07/07/2021 22:13

Yes, but I would be a bit pissed off because the end of isolation is nearly here for double vaccinated. I would not go anywhere crowded even after the end of isolations.

PattyPan · 07/07/2021 22:18

Yes of course

chaosrabbitland · 07/07/2021 22:19

no and i havent even when dd has been sent home to isolate because her schools bubble has burst ,she hasnt isolated either , iv got no faith in the realiablity of lateral flow tests and even less since i read a positve result can be obtained by putting fruit juice on them

Nettleskeins · 07/07/2021 22:19

Tbh self isolation feels like a punishment inflicted on us to remind us to "be good". I feel the govt should have a taste of its own medicine in this...do they repeatedly obey the pinging or have they too deleted the app???
