Be honest, would you self isolate now?

If you got a message saying you had been in contact with someone who has tested positive and were asked to self isolate, would you?

From the app no.

HarryLimeFoxtrot · 07/07/2021 21:27

No.

But then I’ve had both doses of the vaccine and covid (delta variant - confirmed by PHE) in the past 90 days.

LightAsTheBreeze · 07/07/2021 21:27

@Biffsboys

No .. I’m sitting looking at Wembley tonight ? WTF
Yes I think our dear PM and his wife are there according to the DM
rookiemere · 07/07/2021 21:27

If I was officially contacted then yes, but to a degree. I'd still walk the dog, but just do it super early or late and I'd also go for runs. I may continue to meet a friend for a walk - but I'd keep my distance. Wouldn't go to restaurants and supermarkets during the period though.

BigPyjamas · 07/07/2021 21:29

Maybe

Muchtoomuchtodo · 07/07/2021 21:30

The app?! No.

If I was contacted by T+T yes.

I’d actually quite like 10 days alone at home before the kids break up! I feel slightly cheated that I’ve not had this opportunity yet, I have worked all the way through this (NHS), taken lots of extra hours to make up for DH not working and not once have I been asked to stay at home Wink

BiscuitsNoMore · 07/07/2021 21:31

No one would be able to contact me. For 3 reasons.
1 I never got the app in the 1st place
2 I always give a random number /address
3 I don't answer calls from numbers I don't know /withheld.

sociallydistained · 07/07/2021 21:31

Yes. I’ve not had the luxury yet and I’m very much a homebod 🙈

Bonkerz · 07/07/2021 21:32

Not unless I knew who it was.

For example a neighbour went bowling last weekend. Stayed with her 2 kids in their lane. Had no close contact with anyone. Drinks delivered to a shelf 2m away.
She got a text to isolate. It was the only place she had been and scanned.

How is that logical that a single mum should miss out on a weeks work because someone in that bowling alley who she had never seen or touched or talked to now has covid!!!!

Lemons1571 · 07/07/2021 21:32

We are at the moment. One positive case and another testing tomorrow. Will be a total of 2 weeks of isolating if tomorrow’s test is positive.

Alliseaisyou · 07/07/2021 21:32

Yes because I'm not a selfish twat who would be happy to pass covid on to someone vulnerable.

cheeseismydownfall · 07/07/2021 21:33

I would adjust my behaviour but I wouldn't go as far as fully isolating e.g. I would avoid supermarkets but would leave to house to do outside activities.

PicklesTheCat · 07/07/2021 21:33

Yes, I would.

Justmuddlingalong · 07/07/2021 21:34

I'm swaying between being a selfish twat and being taken for a bloody mug.

sanityisamyth · 07/07/2021 21:34

Yes. Definitely.

itsgettingwierd · 07/07/2021 21:35

I believe I have to by law.

So it would be test and trace or via PHE via my school.

If I'd scanned into somewhere and it came via the app - no! I'm double jabbed and so is DS and it's not legally binding.

Until they said about rule changes I would have done.

littlepeas · 07/07/2021 21:35

I’ve never used the app, so an obvious no to that. My dc have broken up now, so no to that too. I would of track and trace called me, but only because I know they check up on you. If they didn’t I’d stay away from people/out of shops/etc but still go out for walks, etc (live in countryside, so can easily avoid people).

PumpkinKlNG · 07/07/2021 21:37

No

I was going to say the same. It isn't necessarily a binary yes or no situation. There are degrees of 'isolation' so yes, I'd avoid shops, restaurants, my workplace etc. I would still walk my dog though.

This is how I've treated the last two isolations... I've just walked somewhere quiet.

Randomgal28 · 07/07/2021 21:40

Yes.. I did daily lateral flows when I isolated and tested positive on day 10 of isolation and I’d had 1 jab at the time. The isolation period is there for a reason

It’s logical as covid is airborne, for 30mins to 3 hours in ideal conditions. So unfortunately she is a contact as walking through shared spaces/the toilet etc she has been exposed. The 2m thing is the ideal, but one person can aersolise and infect and entire office or restaurant, far over 2m away.

Op. Yes is would.

But then everyone I know has deleted the app and fake scans in it seems.

To add, I ended up doing 20 days isolating but at least I know I didn’t pass it on to anyone
herecomesthsun · 07/07/2021 21:42

yes

LadyDanburysCane · 07/07/2021 21:46

Yes

MrsJBaptiste · 07/07/2021 21:48

Unfortunately DS has made it to the last 3 weeks of term and has now got to isolate until the end of next week. I've told him that if he does a LFT on Friday then we can still go out on Saturday as he clearly won't have it. FFS.
