@JaniieJones

'Good for you. I'm CV too and I'm still capable of understanding the concept of being part of a human community though.'

Yes. For me non mask wearers (anecdotally obviously) have gone out at busy times, 2pm at tescos on a Sat afternoon? I could guarantee there'd be 2 non mask wearers invading my space at the fridge aisle. No, they shouldn't stay locked up but they should have consideration for others.

If you are adamant you won't wear one fine (we have to say) but just maybe go at quieter times and give us mask wearers a bit of consideration?

How about you go at a quieter time so you avoid non-mask wearers?

No chance.

I agree with pp if you want this choose your quieter time.

MarshaBradyo · 04/07/2021 18:54

I don’t even feel that strongly about masks but those who want to keep wearing them will just have to accept others won’t be.

Chillychangchoo · 04/07/2021 18:56

@luckylavender

I don’t care if the language is much loved by the far right. As I am not far right, not one fuck is remotely given. I have to laugh though that at potentially being judged as a far right, tory voting wanker just because I’m ecstatic I’m binning my mask.

Mumsnet never fails to amuse Grin.

IcedPurple · 04/07/2021 18:56
@IcedPurple - as if no one went out for months during lockdown! There was still some interaction. Some of us worked in offices.
Complete strawman argument. I never said 'noone went out for months'. I said there were many other restrictions in place aside from mask wearing, so your argument that masks were the reason for low flu rates is silly.

Perhaps it's the only time they can go?

I love how you always caveat your 'tolerance' for mask exempt people, by the way. It really does show how extremely tolerant you are.

BlueBlancmange · 04/07/2021 18:57

I will continue wearing one in indoor public spaces for the time being.

SueSaid · 04/07/2021 18:58

'How about you go at a quieter time so you avoid non-mask wearers?'

Omg. What should I when I'm doing what I should Confused

'What's really sad is that this has become such a political, anger inducing subject'

True. It's because we all know so many aren't exempt. It's been a horrible year and trying to do the right thing then seeing so many waltzing about brazenly without is really irritating. Anyway. Hopefully it is ending.

MarshaBradyo · 04/07/2021 18:59

They won’t be as soon it will be be optional.

If that is too much to bear go at a quieter time.

MRex · 04/07/2021 19:00

We wore masks in public indoor spaces since last March, but are double jabbed now. Half of people at least don't wear them properly and pull them down to chat, so the level of protection for others is not very high. We wore masks with filters to add protection for us as well as protecting others. I'd like to stop wearing one at times when I perceive it to be unnecessary; outside at nursery, in large airy shops, walking round a pub beer garden etc. I'll still wear one in lifts on the tube or shops, crowded till queues and other very confined spaces. Anyone particularly vulnerable should consider higher quality masks especially while cases are high, but again they might not care about wearing one for daft reasons outside. I don't care what anyone else does and think it's right once every adult has had a chance to have at least one jab that we move towards individual risk management.

Yutes · 04/07/2021 19:05

In Sweden they're not mandatory and actually advised against and their death rates are lower than ours, mumsnet still swears it's because of population density and masks still save grann tho

But aren’t Sweden / Swedish people less inclined to invade other peoples space.

Besides, I thought wear a mask was trending on Twitter in light of the guidance changing to mask wearing not being mandatory in Britain shortly?

RainbowANDThunder · 04/07/2021 19:07

It saddens you that people want to protect themselves?

How odd

After ‘freedom day’ if its announced you dont have to wear a mask, dont

But dont interfere with people who still want to wear one
None of your business!

SueSaid · 04/07/2021 19:07

'If that is too much to bear go at a quieter time'

Well the thing is we don't need to wear them from the 19th, the risk is reducing so no need y'see.

I'm on about the last year, whole families or groups of non wearers blocking the aisles at tescos. They should have had a mask free slot at 7am or something.

You seem incredibly preoccupied with exempt people not actually being exempt (because their conditions aren't 'extreme' enough to warrant exemption, or they're not on meds).

Why don't you just get on with your life and let others get on with theirs, free from judgement?

We’ll that’s over soon. So we get to move on from judging isn’t that good for everyone.

I didn’t see many non wearers and I’m sure it will increase from 19th. More like last year when they were optional.

Musication · 04/07/2021 19:11

Why does it sadden you? For those without exemption it is a very simple measure to take in crowded places such as supermarkets and public transport. I'm from Asia and in my country we've always worn masks when we have coughs and colds in order to protect the rest of the community. I find it mind-boggling what an issue it seems to be in the UK.
Face nappies?!

It's sad because the judgement of those who can't wear masks or no longer wish to has already begun in earnest.

People wishing to protect themselves by wearing a mask* isn't sad and the OP never suggested it was.

*Although we've been told constantly that masks protect others, not ourselves.

And what about the supermarket staff? Don't you care about protecting them from the hordes of unmasked?

' don't you just get on with your life and let others get on with theirs, free from judgement'

It's a chat forum I'm sharing my views just like you are. I don't stand outside supermarkets with a placard or anything so I do infact 'get on with my life', but I do judge, of course if do and why shouldn't I. I know from an anatomy and physiology point of view respiration is not restricted by them. Extreme or significant mh issues/dementia of course should be exempt.

At least you admit you're judgemental. Sadly your medical knowledge is incredibly flawed, however. How 'severe' do MH issues/dementia have to be to warrant exemption, in your view? What about TN and other neurological conditions? Some people with epilepsy have issues wearing masks. Is that severe enough? A rape survivor who was gagged during their ordeal - is that extreme enough for you?

And no, you shouldn't judge people with disabilities or health conditions, in answer to your question. You absolutely shouldn't. At all.

NannyAndJohn · 04/07/2021 19:22

Of course I'll still be wearing a mask.

25000 cases a day and rising exponentially. Set to be around 100000 by "freedom day".

Remember: just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

Againstmachine · 04/07/2021 19:23

Says the person who said over and over again, on any number of different threads, that it would be that number 2 weeks ago.

This is going to be my only reply to you as I don't want to let you derail yet another thread with your wildly false predictions and obsessive repetitive hysteria.

ilovesooty · 04/07/2021 19:26

Once the restrictions have given way to personal choice no one has any business judging what people should be doing, one way or the other.

Imnothereforthedrama · 04/07/2021 19:26

If masks make any real difference why are cases going up? .
