Anti-Vax - what is the source?

Two of my good friends have become anti- Vax

We don't discuss it (barely seen each other) but they post a lot on social media about pharmaceutical companies being evil etc

They also attend freedom marches together and post photos of them hugging strangers

I also think they're distancing themselves from the rest of the group. Making plans together and declining invitations to meet with feeble excuse. Maybe I'm just paranoid

But I find myself wondering, where are they getting this info from?

We're all 40s with busy jobs and families. Sensible, educated and (relatively) clean living people. What's gotten into them?

HPV is an increasingly endemic, cancer causing sexually transmitted virus, that causes death in affected women. You can’t prevent transmission with condoms or birth control (if you are lucky enough to have access to contraception). How could you prevent HPV endemic spread? In the UK we now vaccinate our young 15 yr olds girls. So we are very lucky because they won’t die of cancer. Phew 🙂

This is exactly what people in public health did not want to happen - complacency because people think the vaccine guarantees that their daughter won’t get cervical cancer. Please do not think this. Ensure your daughter has regular smear tests.

Someone earlier talked about the selfish people 'running to get their vccinations in January, so they could go on holiday.' Very misleading and factually wromg! In the UK, the people who had their vaccinations in January were either very old, very vulnerable or looking after such people, There wasn't any invitation for peole to chose to get it then for another reason.

The misinformation, jealousy, hatred, confusion and division infiltrating our internet, social media and UK/western corporations/influential people is truly scary. We are lucky to have freedom of speech, but some loons really do need silencing now as a matter of national security. Global security even. We are in a “crisis” stage. I've seen some crazy shit about Bill Gates. Obviously most is untrue like being an alien or bloody robot or a mass murderer who created a vaccine to kill people off.

However it is entirely possible he gave those people an untested vaccine to see how it worked. I mean he isn't the first man to experiment on people with no voice is he? The problem is they are not white and people don't give a shit

Bill Gates went from computers in to biotech both which yield incredible sums of money. When you get this rich you do become untouchable.

I'm not a professional in the field actually but thank you :o Just have an interest in human behaviour and also am quite close to some people who have been sucked into it and observed the trust issues etc for a long time so being able to put the pieces together is quite satisfying.

BonnieDundee but do you trust them enough to believe the vaccine is a safe (ish) option? I also probably wouldn't say that I overly trust this government, but I trust the WHO and I believe that the government is at least trying to do the right thing. I don't have concerns on a massive scale about the vaccine. I understand that it's higher risk than say the childhood vaccines which have been around much longer, but I'm not sick with worry over people having it, which some people I know really are.

I would argue that not bothering offering a vaccine that can save lives to children in the developing world, whilst rich white children access it for free is the problem here @steakandcheeseplease

ps - these rumours started due to deaths of children who took part in the trial. The fact that these deaths were due to things that could not be related to the vaccine (e.g., accidents, snakebites) and it's reflective of the upsettingly high child mortality rate (as discussed in this thread), doesn't stop the anti-vaxxers from repeating it

You joined the conversation about Bill gates. You think he is revolutionary, I think he is possibly a psychopath.

I don't care about viruses and economics - I don't care about he did in India though. Shame its so unbelievable though - wonder why that is
