So angry. How far can they push this 'test/research events' bullshit? Why is everything in my child's life being cancelled and yet this gets to go ahead?

I think they're taking the piss with this one.

I dont mind venues running at half capacity, but if they can have a crowd this size then I want parkrun back!

Arcadia · 22/06/2021 16:14

I know, it's going to be for the semi and the final so not even a one off. Plus the fans will mingle before and after, and will all need to travel there and back. Apparently it's 75% capacity.

This is the most ridiculous thing I've read in ages. So many people in one space, loads from abroad. How are they getting to the stadium and back? Are they been quarantined ? I dread to see the figures in and around Wembley afterwards

Stupid government. Let UEFA take the games back to Hungary. Proms, transition days etc are being cancelled so this shouldn't be going ahead

Ridcully82 · 22/06/2021 16:16

It's certainly not helping:60,000 in a crowd for a football match does not fit with the pandemic thinking of the last year. Maybe it's trying to send that message in time for July 19th?and less compliance before then?

QueenStromba · 22/06/2021 16:16

Not as bad as three days moshpitting at download festival.

motogogo · 22/06/2021 16:17

It's why I'm not sticking to the rules anymore. I'm double vaccinated and do lateral flow tests twice a week. We are for both thoroughly fed up that our planned trip has been cancelled this weekend due to there being 120 double vaccinated middle aged people in a field but football fans can attend!

Arcadia · 22/06/2021 16:17

@Ridcully82 it's terrible timing as lots of us dealing with fallout of our children missing out on school trips, end of term treats etc

OP posts:
Arcadia · 22/06/2021 16:18

@motogogo but we have no choice about sticking to the rules when everything we want to do is cancelled!

I can imagine that's horrible,op. To be honest,I'm just trying to process the decision,as it just seems like an insult to go ahead with this whilst other restrictions in place.

ComDummings · 22/06/2021 16:21

It’s fucking bollocks

Arcadia · 22/06/2021 16:23

I think the anger I'm feeling nowadays is worse than the fear I had early on, and boredom and frustration at other stages. And you can't escape it as it touches every aspect of our lives.

Everyone just feels hacked off atm.

Wilkolampshade · 22/06/2021 16:27

.. Meanwhile on another thread someone is worried about booking two play sessions to run at the same time for a party isn't legal....
God this is such a piss-take. So awful.

3cats2kids · 22/06/2021 16:28

I’m wondering if we will even get to the end of the summer term at this rate. Agree, our kids are being let down, yet again.

Bootskates · 22/06/2021 16:28

So annoying. Like PPs have said this is such a slap in the face for kids. Sports days, end of year prize giving, summer fair and end of year trips all cancelled and then this.

Absolute joke.

Nymo · 22/06/2021 16:31

It is ridiculous. I’ve just reduced a guest list for my son’s baptism in 2 weeks to 30. No longer having a celebration afterwards. We had to cancel his first birthday party due to lockdown (and yes I know that he won’t remember the day but my family and friends will. Many of whom haven’t met him yet because of lockdown and distances between us all.) The majority for guests have had two doses of vaccine, all adults have had at least one. There isn’t consistency and it just feels like a ridiculous guise to call it a test event- it feels more of a way to get the big organisations their money while the rest of us, including many smaller event type businesses, have to lump it. Don’t even get me started on the none isolation of the Scottish team following the positive test of one of their players while school children’s education continues to be disrupted for isolation periods for much less contact.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 22/06/2021 16:33

I'm furious about this. I can't go to sports day, we've had to book two separate tables in a restaurant for my dads 80th birthday as we can't all sit together and my industry is dying. I work in travel and the mood this afternoon among colleagues is not happy. We've gone past being disappointed and frustrated, we are angry now.

choosername1234 · 22/06/2021 16:54

It's pure fucking misogyny I'm so cross. What the men want, then men get and fuck what happens about the women and children. We're also missing sports day and the end of term play has been cancelled at sons school.

On the tube in London on Sunday, I counted 18 people either wearing masks incorrectly (under nose) or not wearing one at all. 17 of those were men. Don't believe they all were exempt

Arcadia · 22/06/2021 17:04

At least they've managed to keep schools open this time but I remember at one point the car show rooms, pubs and golf clubs were open before schools were.

What the men want, then men get and fuck what happens about the women and children.

They want to keep the men sedated with football (bread and circuses) because if there's public disorder it'll be men causing it.

The Euros is the perfect distraction during the month that 'freedom' has been delayed.

poshme · 22/06/2021 17:24

And yet if I went to the biggest cathedral in the country, only 6 people could sing...

lurker101 · 22/06/2021 17:25

Attendees need either proof of negative test or full vaccination at least two weeks before entry, so it’s not directly comparable to kids events where those attending are largely unvaccinated

poshme · 22/06/2021 17:26

Like Liverpool. It's the 8th largest cathedral in the world. It has a capacity of 3500.

Only 6 people permitted to sing in it. Even if they stand in different corners of the building, have been double jabbed & tested.

newnortherner111 · 22/06/2021 17:26

It is wrong and UEFA should have moved the final to Hungary.

England won't be there, Wales probably won't be there, so it will be 60,000 people not knowing who to cheer on.

newnortherner111 · 22/06/2021 17:27

@lurker101 they will not all be checked, as with most Covid 19 requirements, little more than a polite request.
