So angry. How far can they push this 'test/research events' bullshit? Why is everything in my child's life being cancelled and yet this gets to go ahead?

@Bitofachinwag you have seen how on top of each other you have to be to sit on centre court right? At full capacity too.

Delatron · 22/06/2021 19:49

Yer boots!

Againstmachine · 22/06/2021 19:50

But will there be 60 000 people watching the same match? Will they be singing, getting drunk afterwards and crowd together in pubs and streets?

That's also a problem a number a football fans, do not know how to behave, drink too much , let flares off ECT. Its rarely seen in other sports.

bigbluebus · 22/06/2021 19:50

My only thought when I saw that headline was "they have absolutely lost the plot now". 60,000 excitable alcohol fuelled football fans all being funnelled into one area whilst the rest of us are still following the rule of 6 indoors or 30 outdoors.

BoredatHome321 · 22/06/2021 19:51

@Delatron I get that. Scotland fans were told not to come without a ticket but took it upon themselves to do so. What can we actually do to stop it? Same with ignorant football fans at the pubs all over each other, what can we actually do to stop it?

No I haven't actually...do Wimbledon attendees get closer to eachother than Wembley attendees?

BoredatHome321 · 22/06/2021 19:52

@Bitofachinwag considering it's full capacity, yeah.

Lucidas · 22/06/2021 19:53

Keep the men appeased. Women don’t riot.

Plus all the pent up aggression. Hartlepool won the play offs at the weekend in a lower league and their fans celebrated by running on the pitch and being generally unruly.
BoredatHome321 · 22/06/2021 19:54

Look, I'm not saying it's right, it's not. It's ridiculous, it's frustrating and quite frankly wrong. I just don't like the how football is always the sport that gets pulled down when it's clear other sports are doing it too. That's literally it.

Baileysforchristmas · 22/06/2021 19:56

@BoredatHome321 they could have stopped train travel to London, they could have threatened fines if they left Scotland, there are many things they could’ve done but it’s easier to pick on school children

Sillyduckseverywhere · 22/06/2021 19:56

@QueenStromba

Not as bad as three days moshpitting at download festival.
The guys at download had to provide a negative test upon entry and are required to follow up with another test afterwards. Only 10k people and the pit isn't for everyone. People weren't crammed into public transport. It's a very different scenario.
SecondCityShark · 22/06/2021 20:00

Surely covid is going to explode post-euros. The stadium in Copenhagen looked rammed the other day.

Football has pissed me off during this whole pandemic. The way the players have been hugging and kissing and rolling around together on the pitch while we’ve not even been allowed within 2 metres of anyone. But now this has been taken to a whole new level of pure hypocrisy and double standards. Scottish footballers not self isolating, and 60,000 fans packed inside Wembley. I’ve told my dc we’re done. No more complying with covid rules, no more tests. This has finished me off.

Or maybe drag them into police vans, except they may fight back unlike the women who were protesting the murder of a woman by a police officer

I’m listening now and it sounds great

I’m still massively annoyed dc are stuck at home

Have euros and fix student situation

Yep they even made up excuses when challenged about it previously, the Scotland player is laughable about no close contacts.

SummerSaladsAreBack · 22/06/2021 20:19

My Y13 leaves school shortly after a really crappy last year. Prize day is now an hour with no parents allowed. Leavers' ball is cancelled. Not surprisingly lots of kids will not be attending the last days fo school so no proper goodbyes.

But it's OK to have football and tennis and car racing? Something is very strange.

Delatron · 22/06/2021 20:26

I don’t know what can be done? Email MPs? They may not listen. More chance if a woman.

UnsolicitedDickPic · 22/06/2021 20:27

I was thinking the same. Our local MP is actually pretty decent so will give it a go. I'm increasingly angry about this, and I've complied with the rules thus far because it genuinely seemed the best way forward.
Againstmachine · 22/06/2021 20:30

More chance if a woman.

Stop along this plan you are making yourself sound stupid, make it about disparity between the restrictins

Firefly2021 · 22/06/2021 20:30

I was going to ask this - I don’t know who to complain to. I will write to my mp but he’s worse than useless sadly. If this double standard is continued in the new school year I swear I’ll lead some sort of rebellion.

MarshaBradyo · 22/06/2021 20:30

I’m more reluctant as MP is Labour
Whatever they say Cons do opposite

BarefootHippieChick · 22/06/2021 20:47

SecondCityShark if cases aren't currently rising in Europe, they soon will be. And its nice to think after Wembley we'll be sharing the Delta variant with them too.

Delatron · 22/06/2021 20:51

I’ll ignore @Againstmachine as I don’t understand his/her point. Maybe I’m just stupid!

I’ll write about the hypocrisy with regards to the restrictions. I’m not afraid to bring up the disproportionate way this has affected women and children. Whether this makes me look stupid or not!
