Was it wise to have a football match in a pandemic?

Why all the fuss about a few thousand Scots when probably hundreds of thousands will be marauding through London next week with their anti-vax placards?

MercyBooth · 19/06/2021 14:34

Will be interesting to see what happens to accommodate the unveiling of the Princess Diana tribute statue at Kensington Palace on 1st July.

I think you've answered your own question. My guess is these same posters will have no problems with any other event. This one ticked the 'prejudice' boxes in so many different ways, they just couldn't help themselves.

Well no. People on here have been crystal clear about their views on the rent a mob. Those ranting about Freeedoommm, whilst holding up placards decorated with badly drawn ramblings - mixed with the obligatory far right imagery, shuffling down London's streets.

People have been very vocal on this board about that.

Not only the deliberate (no masks, mass gathering etc) attempts to spread Covid in a racially diverse area (London) - done in the knowledge that some ethnic minority groups have been harder hit by Covid. People on here have absolutely called that out.

People have also rounded condemned the 'Freedom' rabble's aggression. Their violence towards police, criminal damage and vandalism including on public transport (so taking away other people's freedom to get to work, visit family and friends, or go to hospital), and their harassment and intimidation of shoppers (taking away their freedom to shop without being abused).

Definitely people have condemned that lot.

Yes commuters soon sorted it out themselves when they pulled the member of Extinction Rebellion from the top of the train at Canning Town

Tealightsandd · 19/06/2021 16:32

Extinction Rebellion. Yes don't get me started on them. I'm not heard much from them about our wide open borders (polluting flights) during a pandemic. They seem more interested in stopping people getting to work and delaying ambulances.

IrmaFayLear · 19/06/2021 17:00

Extinction Rebellion Angry . I would join them if they did something worthwhile - like blocking containers full of plastic crap entering the country. But they just want to engage in anarchist stunts. And it’s the usual participants who don’t give a flying wotsit about the environment - just having a good day out messing up the lives of ordinary schmucks who have to earn a crust.

IrmaFayLear · 19/06/2021 17:04

These threads are always the same. Some people hate football - therefore football spreads the virus. Some people hate theme parks - those queueing at Alton Towers spread the virus. Some people hate eating out, therefore a pub lunch spreads the virus. Ditto covidiots at the beach, or people touching a gate on a country walk etc etc.

Now, what don’t I like….. cyclists. Mamils definitely spread the virus….

What about all the BLM mass gatherings during the first lockdown, pre-vaccines?

Runners. Damned runners and their breathing.

That event won't be open to the public, will it?

Not sure what 'accommodation' will be required, especially as it's going to be outdoors.

Anti-vaxx and anti mandatory vaxx are two different things, stop feigning ignorance and pretending it's the same, it's not a good look
Honey12346 · 19/06/2021 17:29

As for BLM, it's already been established that protesting when you have the right opinions doesn't spread the virus, only when you have the wrong ones. Do keep up!

The most toothless bill in history? There's still a giant protest in London every other week.

Hate to disagree with you but it's hardly a crowd drawer.
