Was it wise to have a football match in a pandemic?

Delatron we know that children don't count. That has been clear throughout.

And now they are talking about double jagged people being able to return to the UK without self isolation, despite the fact that the youngsters have given up so much to protect those who are already double jagged.

AbsolutelyPatsy · 18/06/2021 22:51

it was an excellent football result, all round

mrshoho · 18/06/2021 22:54

I hear you on the hypocrisy. We go around following the arrows and crazy one way systems snaking this way and that way at the bank and supermarket yet football fans get to party and block up the pavements. Losing the will to continue with it now.

canary1 · 18/06/2021 23:04

A good way to avoid a positive test and sending you and your class mates home is to stop testing. Such hypocrisy . Sickened by a society that doesn’t care for the kids. Primarily it’s just us mums that do.

MercyBooth · 18/06/2021 23:15

Seems to me its the children protecting adults

MercyBooth · 18/06/2021 23:18

@user1471448866

MN Covid board "if you are doubly vaccinated you still have to wear a mask"

Also MN Covid board. "what has G7 got to do with it. They dont have to wear masks/socially distance, they have been doubly vaccinated.

Tealightsandd · 18/06/2021 23:19

Well children do tend to care about the adults... their parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins, older brothers and sisters. Families.

But definitely it's time that our most vulnerable children were protected.

Tealightsandd · 18/06/2021 23:21

I know I already posted the link upthread but it's such a huge issue - the still worrying position for vulnerable children (and their parents) that it's worth reposting.

MercyBooth · 18/06/2021 23:22

@Tealightsandd I think you misunderstood. The nations children are protecting the adult elite. By being put through all the crap described on this thread. THATS what i meant. Its sickening.

Osrie · 18/06/2021 23:27

The government have no shame. Throughout this pandemic and still today it just shows again and again how they enjoy their power over people.

Workyticket · 18/06/2021 23:31

It's pissed me right off today.

Chewing through the fucking restrictions for our wedding in 4 weeks whilst Kier whatshisface stands having a drink with someone (on the banned at weddings list)

Wow the crowds in London
Tealightsandd · 18/06/2021 23:33

@MercyBooth

My point was slightly off topic but its so important it's worth making. No one (or very few) is thinking of the nation's disabled children. The CEV and CV children. 53,000 of them.

Other countries have started vaccinating children (over 12). We might not yet have enough supply to do all our children but we should try to at least prioritise the vulnerable children. And people might like to think of those children when they wear masks. Masks protect people around us - particularly the vulnerable... including vulnerable children.

AlmostSummer21 · 18/06/2021 23:37
@AlmostSummer21 look at my thread and you will see why. I’m not testing or my daughter again unless I have symptoms and only a pcr test.
I've read the thread. I still don't understand why you're not testing?

I agree with you. I think we should be vaccinating vulnerable children. Assuming all the licensing is done, which is seems it is. They should be prioritised.

Wakeupin2022 · 18/06/2021 23:50

I think they are going to start vaccinating vulnerable children over 12? Or that was the impression I got on Monday. I know its still not been formalised.

But children who are not vulnerable have given up so much. And it's time they were recognised.

I really hope so.

That's brilliant news if true. Obviously that still leaves vulnerable children under 12 to protect (vaccines not licenced for younger ones yet) but it's a positive move forwards.

Mathshelpme · 19/06/2021 00:40

Absolutely lovely to see young people having fun in London for the football. It’s about time we started living again.

Haven’t the JCVI advised against vaccinating children?
Villanelle17 · 19/06/2021 00:54

They can get lost. Allowing football throughout and talk of vips not having to self isolate. Yet we still have restrictions and can't travel to a country that has low infection rates without tests and isolation.
If the delta variant is such a threat then why would the government do this? They are such hypocrites. Sick of one rule for the "elite" and one for the rest of us.

Villanelle17 · 19/06/2021 00:56

@MsFogi

There has been a very clear exemption for football throughout the pandemic - can't deprive the men of their football!

To be fair, 26 arrests for mostly non-violent crimes from an estimated 20,000 strong crowd is pretty tame!

The bloody mess they've left behind though and the "booing and jeering" of passing England fans is pathetic. These folk are an embarrassment to our nation!

Baileysforchristmas · 19/06/2021 07:14

It was actually good humoured and not a lot of trouble, in normal times I would’ve said good luck to them but it’s the hypocrisy of the whole thing. We are being played for fools. Luckily there is no Covid cases in my daughters school, if her school was closed and she was self isolating I would be more than livid,

OP posts:
DoucheCanoe · 19/06/2021 07:20

I'm the same, definitely ready for normality to resume but we need the same rules across the board rather than exceptions for this and that.
