Bored of Boris-bashing

I'm not a massive fan or anything, nor do I think the government have made all the right decisions during the pandemic. But I'm just getting bored of the fuckwit Boris letting the delta variant in, fucking moron, etc narrative. I'm too bored of this to waste energy being angry! Like, honestly, it would have got in anyway. All it takes is one case. And if they had "closed the fucking border" and refused to let ANYONE or ANYTHING in from India (which is impractical) it would be branded discriminatory, racist, etc. And meh, New Zealand managed it, whatever - smaller population than London in a larger group of islands than GB&NI. Cannot understand how anyone thinks it's comparable.

I'm just fed up of all the wrath and anger. Honestly, I think the government bashing is making them go freaky-cautious. So it's detrimental to businesses, wellbeing, etc. Yeah, I get this isn't how things work in an ideal world. But the world is not ideal! I just can't bring myself to be pissed off about it.

@thecatsatonthewall

I really don't understand why Tory supporters seem to always want to point to Labour and their failings.

But they don’t hardly do this. That’s the point. They didn’t do this throughout the whole of Brexit or Covid. They quietly got on with it and knew they were right and would win. Labour do this very loudly, constantly, it floods every corner of the internet and TV. Politics for them, has become, well, it’s not good politics! I think they call it “identity politics” where you have to ‘appear’ to be certain things on social media, because “how dare you be” not like them (cool and liberal 😂). You don’t hear it (as much) from tories because it’s not worth the argument and exhausting style of retaliation from Labour. Which are insults, name calling, incorrect accusations and baseless. It’s abusive behaviour and hissy fits. Social media has a lot to do with it, promoting individuals into thinking they are campaigning or something! So it becomes one-sided because you can’t argue with idiots.

“Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with pigeons. They will knock over all of the pieces, shit all over the board and then strut around acting like they won anyway.”

And before anyone mentions this thread or my comments (such predictable tactics). Like i’ve said, I’ve kept quiet, this is 5 years worth of frustration with Labour, coming out all over someone else’s thread. (Sorry OP)

@Cornettoninja

don’t particularly disagree with you but that’s largely because I can’t quite figure out what your perspective/stance actually is.

Which part? I don’t think you clarify your points very well. You’re not very specific. You say things that don’t make much sense, prompting some sort of question. Just ask the question if you’ve got something you want to say? Be more direct. What? I answered your previous (vague) questiony thing because you struggle to understand stuff?

Cornettoninja · 14/06/2021 14:18

@WuhanClanAintNothingToFuckWith - any of it if I’m honest. Your posts are streams of consciousness peppered with digressions into rants about anything but the subject of the thread and thinly veiled insults at posters (read me) you’ve decided are a bit simple.

We clearly don’t understand each other at all. Probably best leave it there eh?

Unsure33 · 14/06/2021 14:27

Unless you banned travel and every import by road into this country you would still get variants .the Indian one was already in many countries .

I too am fed up with Boris bashing . He is not perfect but by heart he is a libertarian and today he will be fighting against his instincts . Why would any conservative government shut down business and reduce profits and taxes unless they had to . It’s totally illogical .

The Kent variant should have been worse would that have been his fault as well .

A lot of countries don’t have genome testing / furlough/ vaccines and investment in research to the level we do .

I seriously think that some people can not resist using a worldwide pandemic to try and make a political point .
And it quite frankly is just boring .
If he is making so many mistakes where are the alternative answers ? Why is not starmer screaming from the rooftop about a magical strategy ? His silence is deafening .

Re: PPE, The private company under investigation.

I’m aware, I don’t trust it will amount to much until I see it. Let’s note this is happening despite current events though so your implication that there’s no resources for this right now isn’t quite correct is it?

I said it is happening. It’s a private company. There’s policy and procedures in place for these types of things and contractual law and courts. It’s happening. That’s just everyday business.

There’s no other issues with any private companies that need investigation! So your waffled point is invalid. That’s all bad political spin that you’re obsessing over. Your distrust or paranoia (or blind support for Labour) is not the Tories problem and shouldn’t be anyone else’s problem. Move forward you are stuck in the mud! It’s not a good look. Who cares about harping back to that every 5 mins!

See you’re just obsessed with doing it - bad backwards politics- in a pandemic!

Not reading the rest of your post, there’s no point, your exhausting.

WuhanClanAintNothingToFuckWith · 14/06/2021 14:35

@Cornettoninja

In short you are the problem. You are the reason this thread was created. You listen to the crap politicians who Kier needs to sack.

Cornettoninja · 14/06/2021 14:40

I’m exhausting?!? You’re addressing posts in a compartmentalised, back to front way that completely ignore any normal flow of a normal conversation but yes, it must be me who struggles with comprehension and communication.

Carry on talking to yourself, you seem to be enjoying it.

Lol

PracticingPerson · 14/06/2021 14:41

Well, no, this is silly. There is a big grey area between 'hermetically sealed borders' and 'fuck it why bother'.

WuhanClanAintNothingToFuckWith · 14/06/2021 14:44

@Cornettoninja

You’re just insulting and rude. You’re style of debate and ‘comebacks’ are typical and daft with little substance. You’re party is just like you and won’t be winning anything until it’s completely reformed.

Cornettoninja · 14/06/2021 14:55

Ok then 👍

WuhanClanAintNothingToFuckWith · 14/06/2021 15:05

Yes it will be if they sort themselves out 👍

ShatnersWig · 14/06/2021 15:08

Deserves every bit of bashing he gets. He's the chief incompetent in a cabinet of incompetents most of whom would have been sacked within the last 12 months had they worked in industry or for a charity.

toolatetooearly · 14/06/2021 15:08

Jeez, if I can't slag off useless politicians on the internet, what's the point of it?

AmIPeriOrAreYouJustAnnoying · 14/06/2021 15:32

He's a fuckwit. Stop voting for him & we won't bash him 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

Vivana · 14/06/2021 15:56

The way he has treated social care staff is disgusting. I can't stand him or the Conservatives

Are you Dominic Cummings, or do you just happen to share the same complete lack of coherence?

When I read the thread yesterday you seem to have had several of your posts deleted so I imagine you have little room to talk in describing others as insulting and rude.

@AmIPeriOrAreYouJustAnnoying

He's a fuckwit. Stop voting for him & we won't bash him 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️
I didn't vote for him!

As PP said, there is much to be grateful for. Furlough etc. In my home country the scheme was far more limited and people have endured worse financial suffering as a result. (I'm speaking generally, obviously.) Again, in my home country there has been easily as much chopping and changing and people are just as fed up with it. But it's a fluid situation.

The footage coming out of India was a humbling experience. Whatever the faults of how this has been handled in the UK, at least we weren't enduring a situation like that (and again, I'm speaking generally).

I get that "others have it worse" does not equal "suck it up and don't complain". But I just think it's so easy to bash those making the decisions when one isn't in the position of having to weigh up data, priorities, possibilities, knows, unknowns... And I don't see that endless negativity really achieves that much.

Unsure33 · 14/06/2021 17:48

Oh and he will be bashed for being late today , even though flying back from Brussels from another meeting .

And I don’t appreciate anyone telling me who to vote for.

I have voted for several different parties in the past and surprisingly don’t use mumsnet threads as my guide .

Just the opposite.

thecatsatonthewall · 14/06/2021 17:59

@WuhanClanAintNothingToFuckWith

Just to help make my point on tory suppoerters "what about Labour....."
f he is making so many mistakes where are the alternative answers ? Why is not starmer screaming from the rooftop about a magical strategy ? His silence is deafening

@Unsure33

Whilst no one would expect Johnson to be perfect, i feel he is more of a CV denier (Modi, Trump, Bolsarano) than a libertarian.

I base this on his failure to act quickly on lockdowns and borders, his dithering over schools and Christmas.

However, as he heads up the Govt, then he must also be praised for the vaccine rollouts - whether he had much to do with it, time will tell but he deserves the accolade

traumatisednoodle · 14/06/2021 18:21

Just totally fumbled the vaccine roll out.

traumatisednoodle · 14/06/2021 18:21

Question on vaccine roll out

november90 · 14/06/2021 18:55

A lot of the Boris vocal haters on Twitter etc are anti lockdown, and I think of Boris had his own way and the decision was purely his then "the bodies would've piled high" and there would've been no lockdown! So really, aren't they the same??

Unsure33 · 14/06/2021 19:42

@thecatsatonthewall

Actually someone who worked with him for years said yes he is a libertarian which is why he did do lockdowns too late sometimes , he was fighting not to close down business .

And actually you are right , I watched the programme about how the vaccination programme happened and it was fascinating and something to be proud of . As is genome testing and the information we have to work with . There has been a lot of money going into research from early on .

Of course there were some mistakes and I lost family members through those mistakes . But as a business we have been saved by furlough so it’s important to look at the overall picture .

InOutandidontmind · 14/06/2021 20:35

Actually someone who worked with him for years said yes he is a libertarian which is why he did do lockdowns too late sometimes , he was fighting not to close down business

Even if you go for that, it was a huge mistake, one that not only cost a hell of a lot of lives but also wrecked the economy worse than it would have been.

Agree furlough is great for us all but its not unique to the UK, its been adopted world wide, isn't it a word from the USA ?
