Bored of Boris-bashing

I'm not a massive fan or anything, nor do I think the government have made all the right decisions during the pandemic. But I'm just getting bored of the fuckwit Boris letting the delta variant in, fucking moron, etc narrative. I'm too bored of this to waste energy being angry! Like, honestly, it would have got in anyway. All it takes is one case. And if they had "closed the fucking border" and refused to let ANYONE or ANYTHING in from India (which is impractical) it would be branded discriminatory, racist, etc. And meh, New Zealand managed it, whatever - smaller population than London in a larger group of islands than GB&NI. Cannot understand how anyone thinks it's comparable.

I'm just fed up of all the wrath and anger. Honestly, I think the government bashing is making them go freaky-cautious. So it's detrimental to businesses, wellbeing, etc. Yeah, I get this isn't how things work in an ideal world. But the world is not ideal! I just can't bring myself to be pissed off about it.

You are bored that the PM is being called out because they exploited a pandemic to give contracts to their friends and families? You are bored that people are complaining that he gave contracts and titles to people who donated to the Tory party?

Okay, if that doesn't bother you, fine but I'm afraid I will not be silenced about the subject. Dont read my posts if it bores you

PrimulaPrimrose · 13/06/2021 19:37

So no I'll bash as I see fit.

Miaowmi · 13/06/2021 19:39

It is wearing. Fucking fuckwit, endlessly, repeat X 1,000. What's the point? Sure, you can vote against his party in [insert year of next election] but it isn't going to change things now.

OP posts:
Miaowmi · 13/06/2021 19:43

It was ridiculously weak leadership that was searching for gratification from popularity.

Alternatively, it was crap decision making by a PM who was tortured by the knowledge that whatever choice he made, it would hurt someone.

It did make them look like idiots, but I could actually understand why that decision was hard to make.

LadyWithLapdog · 13/06/2021 19:53

OP unfortunately he is a fucking moron. So there’s that.

Cornettoninja · 13/06/2021 19:58

I agree decisions have been hard, they’ve also been time sensitive and the the dithering has been painful to witness; I appreciate your point of view but I can’t pretend that we’ve had a year of particularly strong, or even good, leadership. BJ and co weren’t thrust into their positions by fate they actively worked themselves into the most senior positions a public servant can and with that comes public opinion. This is their job description.

For someone who fancies himself as the next Churchill I would have at least expected a strong direction even if it wasn’t one I supported. It’s been weak and ultimately the general public have and will continue to (economically and health) pay the price. Their flaccid attempts at pleasing everyone has just fucked everyone.

grapewine · 13/06/2021 20:01

I am actually amazed at how little political blowback Johnson gets for some of his decisions.

Watching from the outside this is my take. He's the Teflon Man. It was the same when he was mayor (at which time I still lived in London.)

newnortherner111 · 13/06/2021 20:02

Mr Johnson's inactions have probably killed more people than Hitler's bombs on London did in World War 2.

We should be angry. He should be in prison, indeed it is only my lifelong opposition to the death penalty that means I don't wish to see him hang.

You are aware that the man of which you talk has built a career on winding people up to be angry about people who are different from them. It is therefore a little rich complaining that people are angry that the Prime Minister is dangerously incompetent.
traumatisednoodle · 13/06/2021 20:05

I have to agree. I'm not a fan, but jeez I'd like to see some of the people on here doing any better. It's an impossible situation, he's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't

OFGS I honestly can't think of anyone who would have done a worse job. I could have done better (it was clear in Febuary with papers published about the Diamond Princess that there had to be both asymptomatic and aerosal spread). He waited a futher 2 weeks after the situation in Bergamo became clear to lock down. Let the Universities open despite rising cases in August. Kept the London schools open in December. He has tens of thousands of deaths on his hands. Yet he is still indecisive, late and generally lazy. I have said many times this type of sloppiness wouldn't be tolerated in medicine or law.

the80sweregreat · 13/06/2021 20:05

I'm not a Tory and only ever read any Boris bashing on Mumsnet or the Guardian.
Most people I know think he is doing a good job.
I don't, personally , but I tend to not get involved with politics with my friends or family as my views are not their one.
If there was an election this year they would still be voted in.
I won't forget the problems with the pandemic or the cronyism but Labour need to get their act together and they can't seem to do it yet. They just dont seem to be able to speak to the ones who are not conservatives.
Boris does have some unusual views. It could be be his undoing as leader , but I doubt he is going anywhere for a while. Not while the polls are in his favour.
The only thing I will say is to thank the NHS for a great vaccine roll out. It's saved their bacon and been a success.

nancy75 · 13/06/2021 20:06

On these threads people always say it’s an impossible situation, other people wouldn’t have done any better. That would be fine, apart from other leaders in other countries did do a far better job

Let the bodies pile high?

I’m bored of Boris bashing too, he needs to go.

He has no compassion, humility or self doubt. He’s dangerous and does not have the intellectual capacity to lead us out of this. And won’t listen to those who do.

And no I don’t want his job and accept my own limitations. Just wish we had the sort of political system that would send someone like Jacinda to the top.

Exactly!
traumatisednoodle · 13/06/2021 20:08

and now once again when it has been obvious for at least 2 weeks that going ahead with fucking freedom day was dangerously reckless he won't commit.

You are not wrong that deciding to take schools to court who wanted to close for the safety of their pupils and staff was a carp decision. I am not sure though who would have been hurt if those schools that needed to would have been allowed to shut a week early for Christmas?
readwhatiactuallysay · 13/06/2021 20:09

If you can't get angry about 10s of thousands of lives being lost, and the incredibly incompetent government failing to minimise that risk, what the hell in life should we be getting angry at?.

If you can't get angry because the people who make all the fundamental decisions regarding our way of life and the lives of children are showing their incompetence, corruption and not slightly being held to account, what the hell do you get angry about?

What matters more than our way of life and that of our children and grandchildren ?

He manages to be all those things whilst treating everyone with contempt.

A bully.

But I think he probably still bigs himself up internally. A deluded narcissist.

Exactly this!! He needs to go! Peoples mental state after 15 months is so fragile which is probably part of the problem now. Little fight left.
Miaowmi · 13/06/2021 20:12

The "let the bodies pile high" thing is a classic example.

Did he actually say it? Probably. But it was more likely a "I'll see the bodies pile high before I put this country back into lockdown" statement. Tasteful? Absolutely not. Offensive? Yes (since it's been spread more widely than intended). Rhetorical flourish? Also yes. Has no one else ever said anything mildly distasteful in private to make a point?

If you want to argue that he made some very poor decisions, fair enough. But I couldn't get worked up over that comment.

Or anyone else? What would you have done with the thousands of recovered elderly patients who, as usual, were waiting to be discharged to their care homes?

Are you pleased that Boris' indecision and lack of leadership in the autumn meant that the bodies both pilled up and we had a lengthy lockdown?

Should we be angry about that?
