AZ yesterday. Have to say I think I’ve just had the illest night of my life. The bed is literally sodden. Chills are an understatement. OH was the same. Headache now but getting better. Don’t want to put anyone off. Delighted to have got it. Just wondered how many were the same? And what the reaction is likely to be after the 2nd jab?

Makes sense. Thank you @MummyPop00

provencegal · 17/04/2021 20:33

I had AZ 3 1/2 weeks ago. I had a fever, chills and nausea. I felt tired for at least a week later.
But it’s the low level constant headache that worries me. I’ve had a constant headache, feel sick on and off and have a pain behind my left eye on and off.
I haven’t seen the GP I am not sure whether its a waste of their time. I wound still have it again. The relief I felt was substantial.

I was sick the morning after. Followed by shiver fever, tiredness and headache for 3 days. Still getting some headaches now, 11 days later. I'm worried but I am quite a headachey person so trying not to over react.

mustlovegin · 17/04/2021 22:47

You should see your GP provencegal

I had my 1st AZ jab yesterday afternoon (Saturday).
Went to bed about midnight with a slight headache. Woke up at 2.30am (12 hours after the jab) feeling absolutely awful - hence why I’m still awake now.
Fever of 39.4 but shivering cold, feel achy all over and my skin hurts.
Took more paracetamol and temp has gone down a bit but now I am boiling hot and sweating. I’m sat in the spare room so as not to wake DH with the window open.
The only time I have felt this poorly is when I had proper flu 10 years ago.

Having said all this, I’m still glad I had the jab. Even though I feel awful, at least I know why and the reason for it. Just gotta ride it out and hopefully feel better in a day or so.
I’m not trying to put anyone off getting the vaccine - this has got to be better than not being vaccinated and catching Covid.

MiaRoma · 18/04/2021 07:16

Same and I'm not sure what to do about the 2nd jab

MiaRoma · 18/04/2021 07:19

Sorry. The quote disappeared. I meant same with prolonged headache. Doctor thinks I'm fine. I don't think I'm fine and i don't know whether to have 2nd jab.

SophieB100 · 18/04/2021 07:28

I had AZ a month ago, and had most of the symptoms many of you have described - chills/fever/headache/feeling sick, etc. Started 12 hours after the jab (so midnight), was like flicking a switch, fine one minute, then bang - lousy.
The symptom that worried me most though, was I felt sort of wired. Like I'd had loads of caffeine? I literally felt exhausted for 4 days, but couldn't sleep a wink for 3 whole nights. Really agitated and restless. Did anyone else have this?

FlyingBurrito · 18/04/2021 07:29

Before I had my jab I was nervous as every day there were multiple threads on here about side effects (I know I shouldn't have kept on reading them but they were always at the top of the list) so I think I was the opposite of most people are assumed that it was just part of the deal that there are many different side effects and you have to prepare for them. I was then very surprised to feel fine as did most people I know who've now had it.

My point I think is that the more research you do beforehand the less you are surprised by any after effects and more aware of the ones that are out of the ordinary and need a GP visit

Now that so many millions have been given people having the jab now are quite lucky to have so much reliable data out there an all the types

fresiaboquet · 18/04/2021 07:39

I've had both doses of AZ (NHS clinician)
first dose - no real temp/chills/headache etc, but did feel sort of non specifally unwell for about 12 hours. Arm VV sore for a good 2 weeks. And I just felt sort of fuzzy and lethargic for around 2 weeks, not so much it stopped me working, but for example when I went running I was struggling ore than usual etc...
Second dose - had it 10 am, worked through the day fine. Woke up in the night with chills, shivering, headache. Didn't get much sleep as felt rough. Still felt rough next Morning but was able to sleep in for a couple of hours and felt better by lunch time. no pain in arm this time. No real lingering symptoms.
So both quite different for me! I dont think I have had COVID - I have had 2 antibody tests (June and Oct last yr) both negative. BUT DD (14) had covid over christmas and we were in very close contact - I had no symptoms and my leteral flow tests remained negative - so who knows!

Chosennone · 18/04/2021 07:45

I'm 21 hours post jab and just have a fuzzy head. I kept on top of paracetamol and plenty of water. I do have a slightly sore arm where the injection site is. I slept well and no issues with shivering etc. Its very similar to a mild hangover at the minute.

Meredusoleil · 18/04/2021 07:47

Dh is booked in for Tuesday and me for Friday but after reading lk this I'm thinking if refusing if we get offered the AZ and only agreeing if it's Moderna by some miracle! Does anyone know what would happen if I/we do that please?

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 18/04/2021 07:48

GrinGrinGrinGrinSecond AZ Vaccination yesterday morning - no side effects this timeGrinGrinGrinGrin

Really unpleasant with first dose - chills/fever/fluey cane on in the night, lasted 24 hours, and wiped out for a further day after that.
Second dose, woke up this morning and feel fine Smile

BunsyGirl · 18/04/2021 07:49

I had my jab yesterday afternoon and have had a terrible night. High temp, sweating, chills, nausea, aching all over, headache, dizinesss...I seem to have every side effect listed on the leaflet they gave me Hmm

MarshaBradyo · 18/04/2021 07:51

Had it on Friday

Woke with a temperature and low level nausea

Took paracetamol was fine to do things all day, but a bit out of it

Today nearly normal on waking, now feel fine

Very happy I’ve had it, worth it, will take second no issue

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 18/04/2021 07:52

@SophieB100 - had exactly that, although I don't think the not sleeping went on as long - but I took nytol on second night to overcome sleep issues.
But see happy post above - I did take Nytol and Paracetamol last night 'just in case'

sandgrown · 18/04/2021 08:01

After first dose of AZ I felt rough and tired for 24 hours then back to normal. I had second dose yesterday and though my arm is a bit sore and I was tired last night no other side effects so far. I took paracetamol before bed.

provencegal · 18/04/2021 08:01

mustlovegin I have been waiting for the headache to pass, and feel abit strange going to the GP about a headache of all things. I will give them a call.

PiggyPlumPie · 18/04/2021 08:03

Same side effects as you first time.

Had second jab on Friday and only have a sore arm. Granted it is a lot more painful than last time but none of the other symptoms at all.

My mum was exactly the same as me.

CurlySnout · 18/04/2021 08:09

Same! AZ yesterday, shivers all night and woke up with a temp of 38.5 feeling a bit sorry for myself Thanks to everyone else who's experiencing side effects. I also am so glad to have had the vaccine.

CurlySnout · 18/04/2021 08:10

@Meredusoleil

Dh is booked in for Tuesday and me for Friday but after reading lk this I'm thinking if refusing if we get offered the AZ and only agreeing if it's Moderna by some miracle! Does anyone know what would happen if I/we do that please?
I personally wouldn't do that. Imagine how much worse actual Covid might feel if you caught it having rejected the vaccine.
Meredusoleil · 18/04/2021 08:12

I'm impressed with everyone suffering through the side effects but still saying they are glad they had the jab! Not sure I would feel the sane way tbh.

Does anyone regret having the first dose and/or been advised not to have the second one?

whataballbag · 18/04/2021 08:12

I'm 29 and had the AZ back in feb. Felt ropey as hell the day after, weird shooting pains down legs, flu symptoms, very hot and sweaty. Day after that was fine.

Hoping to not feel quite as crap for the second!

Meredusoleil · 18/04/2021 08:14

Thanks, but my question was more along the lines of could we book again somewhere else? Especially as dh had a severe reaction to the flu jab years ago and has allergies 🤔 Think I will ring the helpline to discuss later on.
