AZ side effects

AZ yesterday. Have to say I think I’ve just had the illest night of my life. The bed is literally sodden. Chills are an understatement. OH was the same. Headache now but getting better. Don’t want to put anyone off. Delighted to have got it. Just wondered how many were the same? And what the reaction is likely to be after the 2nd jab?

My DH has it Wednesday morning and zero effects. Not even sore arm.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 16/04/2021 21:15

Had mine yesterday, felt fine until this morning when I felt like I have a really heavy cold. Tired and stuffy, arm very tender. Feel a bit better after paracetamol but did need a nana nap! Had covid last year (mild)

MarshaBradyo · 16/04/2021 21:16

Has mine today

Nothing yet will see how I feel tomorrow!

MarshaBradyo · 16/04/2021 21:16

Had

actiongirl1978 · 16/04/2021 21:21

I got ill exactly 12 hrs after my jab. I haven't been so ill since I had flu 20yrs ago.

Temp 39, ached all over and my head was actually throbbing. I took paracetemol every 4hrs from just after the jab for 36 hrs. I was actually counting the minutes until I could have my next drugs! I dont normally take painkillers and never get headaches.

Would do it again but it was horrible.

actiongirl1978 · 16/04/2021 21:22

Oh I have had low level nausea all week plus occasional woozy moments

HarrietM87 · 16/04/2021 21:28

This is actually reassuring me. Had mine on
Monday and one of the worst nights of my life with fever >40, chills and uncontrollable shaking. I’ve had headaches, stiff neck and nausea ever since, 5 days in now. Headaches are mild and controlled with paracetamol so 111 said to just keep an eye for now but I’ve been really worried.

I had mine yesterday morning, and haven't had any side effects. Except possibly feeling chilly today, but in fairness I was outdoors all day and it was cold when the sun went in.

halfthesun · 16/04/2021 22:06

My first AZ this morning. All ok - sore arm but this was expected. Lots of work on tomorrow so hope stays this way!

HarrietM87 · 16/04/2021 22:11

Thanks @BuggerBognor - reassuring but sorry about your DH! I’ve reported on yellow card. Meant to say I’m 34, healthy and haven’t had covid before.

AnnaSW1 · 16/04/2021 22:29

I was the same. Full of chills and shakes and pains and I felt very ill. I'm on the younger side, and female, and suspect I had Covid very early on in the pandemic, which I have heard can cause more of a reaction to the vaccine.

Also am very grateful to have received the vaccine. I love Science

Babyroobs · 17/04/2021 00:23

@MummyPop00

Does anyone know if there is a difference in reactions in people who have previously had Covid

Can only speak for myself, still having low level headaches 6wks after AZ, waiting on bloods. Very likely I won’t be having the 2nd jab.

Same here - low level headaches still after a month and after 4 days of having the AZ, I had a really scary episode with my eye, extreme pain, almost like a focal seizure. Not sure I am comfortable having a second dose.
amicissimma · 17/04/2021 00:41

last time I looked the Zoe app was suggesting that side effects were more common after the first dose of AZ and the second dose of Pfizer.

fluffyatemycake · 17/04/2021 01:12

I had the same side effects. About 3 hours after the jab I got chills and then had a fever through the night. I was over it in 2 days though and now feel fine. I've got my next one booked for June. My husband recently had it and same side effects. It is just the bodies natural response. It means the antibodies are working.

I had the same as you. 6 hours after the jab the uncontrollable shaking started then felt really cold, then temperature and the worst headache I’ve ever had. I felt very ill and it lasted for days. I also had aches and pains and a very painful arm. I went to see my gp earlier this week due to the headaches coming back but with bad sinus pain too. She gave me a steroid nasal spray and that’s been helping. I’ve still got a slight headache now 13 days later but it’s getting better. My gp did wonder if I could have had Covid before and that might be why I reacted to the vaccine so badly.
AreTurnipsReal · 17/04/2021 01:21

I am lying with lots of layers n blankets. So cold. Feeling sorry for myself as alone.

I am jab plus 11 hrs.

Thank you for sharing your experiences, pps.

ApplesinmyPocket · 17/04/2021 01:26

Two of us in my family have had the AZ (the other two had Pfizer)

Me (64) - no side effects beyond a mildly sore arm

DD2 (32) - one night of fever and mild headache, she thought it might be the start of worse side-effects but got up as usual and saw to the horses (physical work involved) and felt better later in the day; perhaps a little tired since but overall no problems.

Everything fine, both keen to have our next dose.

Silkiescats · 17/04/2021 01:51

DH had his about 10am then c11pm that night he got very shakey and all night until midday the next day he was the illest I've ever seen him and I was very worried but then around lunchtime he got up and seemed OK to carry on with things. He's rarely ill and normally quite heroic abput carrying on. Was like a severe flu and headache, shaking with him.

@MummyPop00mmy if this happens or if you think you are experiencing symptoms related to blood clots:

a) Do you need to contact your GP or go to A&E?
b) What treatment/tests were you or should you be given?

starfish4 · 17/04/2021 07:44

OP, hope you feel better today. The only side effect I had following the second dose was feeling a bit chilly for about a hour. Didn't need heating on or particularly struggle with it. It's five days later and I've been fine.

FOJN · 17/04/2021 07:45

My side effects lasted for 24 hours during which I felt so ill I stayed in bed. I've woken up this morning relieved to be feeling much better. My arm still hurts like hell.

AreTurnipsReal Hope you feel better soon. I was on my own too and it's miserable. Paracetamol helped a little bit. Drink plenty and stay in bed if that's possible, it will pass.

Interested in this too- day 6 for me.
MummyPop00 · 17/04/2021 09:11

@mustlovegin

Depends on severity of symptoms I guess.

Mine have been mild but persistent but never severe so I went via GP who referred me for bloods & not directly to A&E.

“Symptoms of concern include persistent or severe headaches, seizures, or focal neurology; shortness of breath, persistent chest, or abdominal pain; and swelling, redness, pallor, or cold lower limbs”
